Yeah, this used to be a fun place where we could chat and hype about our Apple products. The last few launches have turned dark. But oddly enough, the phones keep selling in record numbers. I think that people expect constant WOWs from Apple, and the constant leaks also contribute to the lack of enthusiasm.

I don't think you had a point to make.

And you shouldn't be dumbfounded by the Apple hate. Just as you shouldn't be gobsmacked by the Apple love.

Again, it's a discussion forum. Discuss away.
My point was made and well received by many. It just didn’t fit your liking. Have a nice day!

Hate, more like frustration is what i sense and why shouldn't owners be critical of things that are not what they are wanting to buy? While details were known in advance, i'd "guess" many were hoping for "evolution" still rather than just a copy paste from a 3-4 year old samsung spec sheet.

Putting R&D effort and time into talking alien heads rather than fixing the bugs and other short comings doesn't help apples cause...! People may or may not come to accept the ears, but some of the comments around usage in landscape mode are valid.

You’re not an owner of a device that isn’t even available to purchase yet. By all means enjoy your right to rant away, just respect my right to post about all the ranting.

I don't view these posts as hateful. I think people are genuinely disappointed, upset and angry. $1500 for an iPhone, including case, charging device, apple care +, etc. is truthfully obscene. It's not just Apple, it's Samsung also. The only way to stop this corporate greed is to stop buying, period. Keep that 2 year old phone that is still chugging along. If they can't sell their ridiculously overpriced piece of hardware, prices will be lowered.

But, in the meantime, we all have the right to voice our thoughts and feelings on this forum. You want to see true hatred???? Turn on the news.
Well said mate. :)

"We're" owners of apple devices, that's all the "right" people believe they need to have an opinion on a device they are considering changing/upgrading to. I'm certainly not having a rant. I don't think apple have done anything exciting for around 3 years - so this was no surprise to me and I'm certainly not going to get over emotional on a forum about it either.

Not sure how you believe people are not respecting your right to post about something - not that I've read the whole thread but at least direct or vent in the right direction..

People are mad because:

$1000 price tag
no 128 GB option
no pro motion
only 2 colors
screen resolution still not good as samsung galaxies
no touch ID
wireless charging but sold separately

so basically if you want one most will go for 256 GB which they don't need + wireless charger + case + tax thats over $1300 FOR A ****** PHONE.

all these things add up to make it not such a great upgrade overall...and this is the 10th anniversary iPhone everyone's expectations were high.

I'll be pre-ordering the iPhone X at 3 AM and I'm excited for it.
Having said that, I do think Apple has lost some magic from when Steve was around. The biggest example of that is the lack of Touch ID.
I'm reminded of the story of the iPhone's conception when the Apple engineers told Steve they simply couldn't get the glass touchscreen to work in time for release. Steve told them it would get done and walked away. That sort of leadership would've resulted in Touch ID being built into the screen, possibly in addition to Face ID, with Apple thrilling through their innovation. Apple and its products still excite me, but I miss that extra bit of magic provided by an extraordinary man.

So $1529 for the phone (here in Canada for the 256GB model) and a $100 for another cable to actually charge it fast. $1629 before taxes and no Apple Care. Hmmm...hardly seems worth it huh?
Way too expensive and why many will not be upgrading. Add Apple Care, GST, PST and a case, it’s around $2000. No thanks.

It’s about how YOU feel about the product YOU own. External factors (in agreement or disagreement) are irrelevant. If they are THAT relevant, that indicates to me iPhone is more of a status symbol than a tool for YOU.

Thats like being upset not everyone wants to marry your girlfriend. It’s YOUR girlfriend and YOUR life. What difference does it make what other people think, one way or another? Are you that easily swayed by group thought?

Plenty of people are dumbfounded how i continue to jailbreak in light of how many features have been added to iOS over the years and think jailbreak is beyond useless/unstable to the point of detrimental, but I still do and i still see tremendous utility in it and i never get resprings despite piling on the tweaks, and it doesn’t bother me one bit, all the skepticism..

Ever heard of beauty is in the eye of the beholder?

Much respect man. Haven't seen a post that deep, yet accurate, in quite some time. And I'm on here all the time.

That’s great and all, and your perspective is noted, but that doesn’t change the fact that there are indeed others in here that are straight up spitting nasty hate. Not saying that you are, but it is definitely here. It’s crazy when you can come online to a forum and almost feeling the negative energy pulsing through your device.

First and foremost this is the internet, you get to see how people truly are, with no social barriers to prevent bad behavior.

Second, not everyone goes to church.

Third, macrumors is worse than usual because Apple bred us based on high standards, and so when apple slips up, we notice.

Fourth, you sound very sensitive. Maybe the internet isn't the best place for you.

First, clearly.

Second, who said anything about church?

Third, you’re very presumptuous of someone you know nothing about.

Fourth, you know what they say about making ASSumptions right?

I’m considering trying out the new Google Pixel when it comes out. But of all the many times I’ve tried Android I always come back to iOS simply because it is so much smoother and streamlined of a UE. That and my entire ecosystem is Apple. I’ve tried to love Android too, but there’s just something about it that I can’t get there. I will say however of all the Android devices I’ve tried out that the Pixel was the best. The Samsung devices are too bloated. Interested to see what Google does with the next Pixel coming in October.

It's not hatred it's disappointment from people who enjoy Apple products, like myself.

I was underwhelmed by the launch especially after all the hype.

Exactly!

You're on an Apple site where so many are complaining about Apple. You're right, these aren't Apple haters. These are Apple fans.

This tells me maybe Apple messed up.
I too miss Steve’s leadership and the magic it inspired.
Yes, unfortunately his soul isn't there anymore. And discovering that at the opening of ApplePark and 1st event ever at SteveJobs Theatre was the total underwhelming to me.

I will still buy  products when & if I like them. I live in their eco-system, but lot of things syncs with it today.
My expectations just went down dramatically as to what I've discovered happening with Apple.
Not surprisingly, Steve's not there, different values & leadership (or lack of it actually).

My title says it all. I am literally dumbfounded by all the hatred for Apple I see on here. What’s most mind numbing to me is where the hate is being posted. I would understand if I were on a Android forum or something, but of all the places I’m on macrumors. It’s truly saddening to me, and I’m not a fanboy, but rather just a fan and longtime user of Apple products. With all the visceral energy here spewing of hatred you would think that Apple had kidnapped your first born. I just don’t get it. We all pretty much know what’s coming now days with most every new product release since the rumors are more or less spot on. As far as the iPhone X goes, did any of us really expect Apple not to continue down the path they have always taken? Their path as I see it has always been one of doing things in such a way that their users adapt and end up loving their products. I could be off on this, but I suspect many will fall in love with the iPhone X. I will admit that the two things I’m scratching my head over are the asymmetrical screen with the notch at the top and of course the reliability of Face ID. But I suspect in time just as with all Apple products that they will nail it and all the apprehension will fade into the background. Thoughts?

It's utterly predictable. After every major announcement, especially WWDC and the iPhone event, there's a certain set of people that feel compelled to come to places like this and whine/troll/spew/etc.

It happens all the time. "Blahblah sucks because of <some stupid reason>. It'll never sell. I'm not getting one. hahahaha, dooooom on Apple", etc. And then, the items sells like crazy, every other company tries to emulate Apple, and the cycle repeats.

If you can, it's best to just ignore them (something I still fail at from time to time, alas).

Oh I'm quite used to this. I've been on MacRumors since 2008. Apple and their products have always been controversial. And with sales of 170M or more iPhones a year, they are bound to generate a wide range of opinions about every design decision they make. The enthusiasts who are most upset will be loudest on forums like these. And you'll find a pattern. Apple is damned if they do, and damned if they don't. Don't put LTE in the Watch, and people will complain. Do put LTE in, and they will complain about that. Apple can't win. Except at the bank. There, they are winning big. Oh, and also in customer satisfaction surveys. They are winning big there too.

Agreed!

Don't forget kids.

Bad publicity is still publicity.

That's why Apple is still no.1
They know how to keep it cool.

So don't worry buddy. Haters come and go.

I'm not particularly bothered how much Apple make in regards to profit and don't use that as the benchmark for how happy I am with their products. It's irrelevant. Apple produce very nice products but they are very complacent too and when people do flock to stores to buy iPhones that don't really push the boundaries of innovation, they don't need to really try that hard. I'm very happy with my iPhone, I just wish Apple hadn't started ripping us off at the retailer. The prices have shot up and it's becoming unaffordable to upgrade and this wasn't the case just 2 years ago. This is where most of the criticism has come from from those of us who enjoy their products.
