noise cancelling mic

I'm concerned that the top of the case does not seem to leave an open space for the noise cancelling mic. My iFrogs case has an elongated headphone jack to open up for the mic. Anyone have any info or pics that show this is left exposed? if not, I'd be concerned it will reduce the call quality.

the renders show there is an opening for the noise cancelling mic

The opening is pretty easy to see on the renders

I think the Vapor case looks incredibly sexy. However.... wrap the stainless steel antenna bands in another metal (even one insulated by rubber) and they say it's not going to have any effect on reception?

*face palm*

if there is indeed a rubber cushion inside it will not affect reception...

Does the outer surface have any type of grip or texture to prevent it from sliding out of my pocket when sittiing down? That's my only concern

It has to cause some degradation in the reception even though there is a rubber barrier. You are still putting a faraday cage around the phone. With the 3GS the antennas are in the back insulated by the plastic back of the phone. Ive read tons of comments that adding the battery pack backs dropped the reception because of the metals in the pack. I am waiting to the jury is out before dropping 80 on one of these. If there is absolutely no reception drop compared tothe bumper, I will get one.

Their selling point is it improves the reception because you don't touch the antennas so yes it may be better then holding it bare but I bet worse then a bumper.

yes, and it is well worth the money if you knew anything about the process that goes into making an aluminum case...

What... like setting it up on a CNC machine to be cut? Or designing it in Solidworks like everything else? There is plastic out there that has as much detail and hours spent in design as this case if not more.

Don't get me wrong, I think the case looks sweet as hell. Personally I'm holding out for your early adopters to tell me how it works with the reception "issues" along with the price dropping a lil.

$50 shipped and I would be sold.

Do inform me of the process of making an aluminum case. Skip to the middle, because I already know that aluminum is a cheap material, and is very easy to mold. Tell me where I get my $80 worth.

The cost may be figured by electricity usage for the machines too.. 3 phase electricity for CNC machines isn't cheap. Also figure in the money for tooling (End mills, roughers, and drill bits) which is very expensive. Don't be so narrow minded lol, some bike parts that are much smaller and made out of the same material are 5 times more expensive.

And some tennis and golf equipment are made out of the same material are material and 10x cheaper. I don't see how narrow minded fits into anything, seems like you just wanted to throw a word around to seem like you have an intellectual grasp on this stuff.

...because a product's value is strictly dependent on materials and labor, yeah?

you're in a mac forum complaining about price for god's sake.

What else do you want it to be dependent on? How many blue cars going 57 MPH that pass the factory's left window at 3:12?

i guess a consumer's willingness to pay...supply (or lack of)....demand? econ 101? it's worth 80 bucks because people are willing to pay that much for it, obviously. this is america. this is how capitalism works. With your logic, i sure hope you NEVER buy anything from brick & mortar stores. ever.

i didn't realize i fell into some sort of interwebz wormhole and teleported into a slickdeals thread.

and for the record, i did not buy this nor would i do i value this thing at 80 bucks.

I materials and labor are considered factors of production and thus fall in the supply category. Demand, and therefore the price of it, is what's being discussed. What did I miss?
