I materials and labor are considered factors of production and thus fall in the supply category. Demand, and therefore the price of it, is what's being discussed. What did I miss?

lol, you obviously have never taken an econ class in your life. i'm not even sure how to respond. i have no rebuttal...you win.

stay in school kids.

I have taken an econ class, hence how I explained my post. I think you got so worked up in trying to make me seem wrong, that you didn't expect yourself to be wrong. If you were right, you'd have a rebuttal. Perhaps you're not the one to tell people to stay in school, hmm?

supply - as in the supply curve...as in the manufacturer's ability to produce X qty

Demand - as in demand curve...as in consumers' willingness to buy at a given price.

they cross at equilibrium.

as of now, supply doesn't meet demand, in which case the equilibrium price should even be higher than it is.

what econ class did you say you took? this should be the first thing you learn. i'm not sure what your ramblings of supply, demand, price, materials & labor was all about.

Perhaps you should just go sit down somewhere, hmm?

How do you think that these manufacturer's make these goods? Wave their magic want and "Pop!" they're there? Materials, labor, means of manufacturing, etc = ability to supply

I'm not denying that the equilibrium, and current supply issues are not true. I never disagreed with you, I actually asked in my post where we differed. You went further than just supply and demand and justified the price. Good job.

right, we went off on tangents. you asked why it's worth 80 bucks. fair question.

it might not be worth 80 bucks to you, but in a capitalistic market, worth is defined by consumers' willingness to pay....not by cost of goods. there seem to be plenty of people here that value it at 80 bucks. I'm sure this company's cost is higher than if a multimillion dollar conglomerate were to outsource this design and buy by the palette from China.

when it comes down to it...it's pretty much an opinion thing. i may value my gf a 10...you may value her a 3. different strokes.

I work (15 years) for a small machine shop that has 3 Haas CNC machines and we do a lot of proto-type work for the aero space industry as well as custom gun parts. From what I can tell from the renderings, the machining, materials and anodizing required to make these here in America (I assume), is well worth the $80.00 asking price I.M.H.O. I asked my boss (the owner of the shop) what his thoughts were and he told me that we would have to charge an estimated $110.00 ea. for a run of 3000 to make it worth doing in our shop here in America. He did not mention nor did I ask what the profit margin would be after overhead is figured in.

When I called them to ask some questions they told me they had sold 5,000 of these cases (sight unseen, of course!) within 3 days.

Therefore by definition these cases are worth $80 if not a lot more! Value is a function of what consumers are willing to pay.

Not impressed with Element case

I ordered a stand for my ipad ( The Joule) that said in their heading ready to ship, no delay or anything. This was on the 3 of July. Today still says awaiting fulfillment and they took my money on my CC that day. I emailed them to ask for an update 2 times and no response thus far. I wasn't expecting it over night but at least an answer to an email would have been nice. Im on pre order for the Vapor but have to admit, rethinking it right now.

Just saying, I hope this is not a preview of the service you can expect once they have your money. They seem to answer just fine about potential sales.

Wishing you luck.
That Vapor seems over hyped and over priced IMHO.
Still, I wish you the best.

Yea...service seems to be sheer *****...

Pity really! Their product is so popular they've adapted the couldn't care less attitude!

If you check out their FAQ, they sort of indicate that they don't answer all emails. Also indicates that the "no logo" option is currently unavailable.

They need to get the CS part of the company in gear. They should just outsource it if they need to.

When I read the title I was thinking that you somehow already had the case...I see from reading your post that the customer service is sub-par and it doesn't have anything to do with the case.

Your point is well taken but any product purchase does indeed have a lot to do with the quality of customer service IMHO.

Well its the name of the company, guess should have not used a space in the title, sorry about that.

This FAQ section must be new, because if you check out the main vapor thread people who ordered were able to call up and request a "no logo" as an option. Their was also an option of inputing "stealth mode" in the notes section?? During the checkout process to also have a "no logo" option. I guess they got tired of all the phone calls.

They are supposed to start shipping these this coming Monday, hopefully I'm in the first batch

Again, I apologize. I was just trying to let people know about the possible problems of this company before they gave them money like I did. There was no bad intention intended. No where in my title do I say vapor or bumper.

Some of you make trying to be helpful, though maybe not perfect, least I was trying to aid.

It's not misleading at all. "Element Case" is a company. He never said he was specific of one particular case. He said he was not impressed with the company, what about it is misleading? And he already apologized, twice. Ridiculous. Give him a break.

I may just get an otterbox for a little cheaper, the commuter model fits my needs. May still consider this case though.
