i am sure they tried out their prototype cases on their iphones to make sure of everything. I'm pretty sure one of those on the checklist was to make sure the phone works with the case....

I would hope so or they would be getting thousands of returns lol

Thanks all for the replies.

vsedey, I would think so. However this still does not make sense as to how it would not impede the signal. Radomes (think radar and domes - a blend of the two words aka portmanteau) on aircraft and ships expressly forbid the use of certain paints as they often contain aluminum or other metals.

Here is an article I read from the bbc last year about anti-wifi paint. What does the paint contain? Aluminum-iron oxide.

I would make a friendly bet and say that this case has never been tested on the iphone.

Carbon fiber? It is not radio transparent either. Remember the DRO Concepts iphone case? that lost signal strength.

Want something more recent? How about a couple of hours ago? Have a look at this thread - very current - the OP was very excited with his beautiful case at first but now he sees that it drops 1, sometimes 2 bars.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/971860/

Someone else in that thread is told by the manufacturer that this is an "isolated case".

Do you believe this?

There would be quite an uproar if it turns out that the vapor degrades the iPhone signal. Originally Element made explicit claims to the contrary, claiming they had tested it etc. But everything you say makes sense.

Presumably we will find out soon enough! Well, soon at least, maybe not soon enough!

Labrat thank you for your well wishes! I hope your daughter gets well soon!
What's up with a summer sinus infection anyway? What weird bugs are going around now that can survive all this heat?

You would think another case company would come up with a product at a better price point. Lets say $50, for a case that is sturdier and more reliable than a plastic bumper or bumperlike case, for one that is cleaner than the Vapor case in terms of graphics and logos, yet just as strong.

I'm beginning to consider another case, but I'm still waiting for actual shots of the damn case. Methinks the Vapor case needs a new thread.

Way late to the game... but the ad says its machined aircraft aluminum. The Iphone has hellicopter glass. All I'm saying is the ip4 forum is full of 'my ****'s broke' threads. 80 bucks is pretty high.

So all that is missing is a turbine engine and a couple of guns, and my phone is ready to deploy to afghanistan

Just cancelled my order.

I think I finally realized how much this costs....combined with all the unknowns...

I'll let some others "do the testing". Enjoying my Bumper just fine for now.

vapor 4 case

I've only deal with one scam company. They were great at getting the phone and returning calls. They responded to emails in no time. They even sent out fake shipping notices with tracking numbers. The tracking numbers didn't work but it gave them more time to collect money . They hired a team of people so you always spoke to someone different giving the illusion that they were a legit outfit. By the end everyone on the forum thought something was fishy and got the media and the police involved before they were able to skip town. We were ordering phones that cost 850 bucks each so the concern was even more intense than here. I got a full refund from visa so at the end it just cost me a lot of stress and time.

The point is that the level of communication that Element is putting out there
is less that ideal, but it doesn't mean they aren't the real deal. Most likely they are bogged down trying to get cases made.

If I may, I don't think we need to worry so much about the payment these days since it is easy enough to stop and request charge back with Paypal and CC company as long as we are not receiving the case within a week after they claim they shipped. Based on this thread, I am sure we will have plenty of members let us know if they received it or not VERY soon.

Regarding the quality, it is different story. But I trust that we will know soon enough from some early adopter here. Since they claim they will take it back if it is not satisfy, see below, I am not too worry. They might take our money a ride for a week, but that is the most they can be. Last but not least, the reception will be the most important factor of this case IMO. I know it is not the same but any 3G or 3Gs Element case user can provide us some feedback? If it is not degrade and it looks as good as in the Photoshop pictures in their web site, I will keep it. Otherwise I will send back in a heartbeat.

Q:
What is your guaranty?
A:
We have a full money back guaranty as long as you arrange shipping back to us and the Vapor is in new condition when we receive it.

Q:
Will the Vapor case improve my signal?
A:
It may or it may not. We don't make claims that it does.

Right. Many ppl in this thread are forgetting that Element Case are the makers of the joule stand for iPad which has gotten really good reviews from reputable review sites.

I'm not doubting the legitimacy of the company itself, but rather the way they conduct business, especially at this stage of the game. I also am doubting that your order number equates to the number of people that have ordered or your place in line. Most order numbers don't start with 1.

I sent in my pre-order request and I got the "we have secured your place in line" email...but I am going to hold out on sending anything until I see a physical case. This vapor case and my grove case were going to be my only two, but so far Element has disappointed. I think I am getting spoiled by grove, who provide pictures of their case even going thorough the production process.

We will see what happens

At least some people should be receiving them today if they were truly shipping yesterday according to the guy who answered the phone at their company / house / basement or whatever it is... They are located in California so people in that relative area should get them today or tomorrow at the latest (if they were early on the preorder list).

I just got my Vapor case yesterday and seems to work fine for me so far. Still have not done the software update and get 5 bars in my house.

I got the black case and think it looks sick.

It was hard to get a hold of Element but when I finally got hold of them, the guy that answered the phone seemed a bit rude and stressed.

Thanks for posting that picture! It looks great! I was starting to wonder if we would ever see it. Send some more pictures along if you get time.
