I agree with 99% of your post. I actually don't feel that they "owe" me anything extra, all I paid for was a case. But I paid for that case to be delivered in a timely manner...

True, they only owe you the case you paid for. Awhile back I ordered an iSkin Vue for my iPad. There were some delays and they did send out a couple of emails letting me know. As an act of goodwill, they added a small accessory case and some microfiber cloths to my order to make up for the inconvenience. They didn't owe me the extra stuff, they were just trying to give a little extra customer satisfaction. Element Case could take a lesson here.

I would never order from them again, nor will i rec them to any of my friends.:(

In sales myself, i have had a very very bad deal... however i sent an email to every customer 3 times a week (mon wed and fri) i had not one cxl on me. yes there were times i could not get an update out on Wed due to co meetings, however i did a quick email out... "sry for the lack of updates but there is nothing new at this time. nxt update will be on Fri...."

I even had cust place more orders due to the fact that i was being up front with everyone else. they in turn told there friends who called me saying " i know your on backorder however i would still like to order based off of my friends rec.

Jeff---

This is all we are asking, just give us REAL updates, shoot you could tell us they will not ship till Sept! but just tell us whats going on!

Amen
It's clear by the post here we were really expecting something in the way of a shipping notice by today and people are really starting to feel let down after being told on a few occasions that shipping has started or will start at a certain time. I for one was totally expecting half of the members on this post to be jumping up and down today because they had gotten an email saying that their case has shipped.
I'm not mad, I just want to see some sort of progress.

That's all people want (besides the case!) is some communication. How hard is it to post an update on a site or Twitter for crying out loud? It drives me crazy when people say they are too busy. Everyone is busy. Take two minutes, post an update and people will be mollified for awhile.

Funny, that's very similar to the discussions we were having more than two weeks ago. You know, after the "first batch" was dispatched (in a parallel universe, presumably!).

This is the way I see it:

- People who would happily pay +80 USD for nothing but a bunch of ambiguous renders are less likely to cancel their orders. PayPal/credit card dispute deadlines won't change anything. I haven't placed an order yet and won't until I read some detailed reviews. But that's just me. I'm not going to worry about other people's money!

- Element Case people simply don't care. They won't be updating or changing the way they've been dealing with this mess. They will continue to give false hope and act unprofessional for reasons nobody understands. As you said it yourself, the damage of telling the truth from the get go would have been much less. Too late now. So, whatever! Takes literally two minutes to update their twitter feed or facebook page. Can be done on the phone while taking a crap (what? as if none of you have done it before! :p). What's causing this ridiculous hesitation is beyond me. And to be honest, I couldn't care less any more. Visiting this thread has become a nasty habit of mine and many others. I lost my interest in the main topic after I found out they were deliberately misinforming people about shipments. Just visiting every 30 minutes because if I don't, I get a horrible rash!

- Two weeks from now, well... There is a very good chance that it'll be business as usual over here. People speculating, making fun, letting off steam, daydreaming and so on...

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I just wonder if a bunch of unnecessary disputes would hurt Elements credibility with PP when it could just be avoided by calling them up and getting an instant credit on their PP acc.
Seems like overkill, ya know.

I don't think PP works like Better Business Bureau (or something similar) where people can file/post grievances about a company. Besides, despite all the negativity here regarding Elementcase, if they started pushing cases out tomorrow, everyone would be in love with them again. Personally I'm amazed that one little case garnered this much attention from people. Nice case but way too overpriced for me.

I'm wondering exactly how many people on here are all different for instance if there is only 100 different people on this forum commenting then perhaps it's just a small number of people who have yet to receive the item, doesn't mean that none of them have got sent out. Just trying to give you guys some hope :)

Nobody from any of the forums, facebook and theres no reviews by major tech / mac blogs.

Here is another big thread about 35 pages and not one person there got one either....

Their Facebook, none either...

Out of all these people, none have received any notices or cases.

You spell out exactly what I feel. Thank you.

Also, as they mentioned they are small shop and I bet they might need some of our money to fund the materials/machining/parts... for this project. I've no problem with that BUT at the minimum, we should have some sort of open/honest update communications with us while we wait, right? But all we got is some new member came out and said "I got the case today" It is not open not to mention it is honest or not, agree?

imo they took money in early to fund the manufacturing of the actual products hence the delays.....

I understand what your saying but they do only have 125 friends and if it's true there are thousands of orders out there then perhaps it's just one of those things. Remember that a lot of people don't get on to forums, also Cnet did a July giveaway of a Vapor 4 case, I don't think they would be promoting it if it didn't exist.

That is not good.

I can't find ANY reference to Element Case's Vapor 4 on CNET's website. I seriously doubt they've seen it, let alone given one away.

Here is the link to the CNET Vapor Giveaway:

They just used the same renders that everyone has seen though. This case was posted pretty much everywhere once they released the renders and started preordering. It was the first cool iPhone 4 case and promised the infamous "antenna fix". Ironically it was announced with IvySkin's case which turned out to be delivered late and total crap (see the huge IvySkin thread).

Also, from what the article says, it doesn't look like CNET had one in hand or were able to review it. They were just pushing information given to them by Element Case.

Lots of companies use Twitter and Facebook buddy, infact Element Case used it up until July 8th to promote this very "Vapor" case. Jeff Sasaki the owner of Element Case had time to sign into his Facebook to delete it, but not time to post a simple message about whats going on / wrong?

How many companies go out there and tell the consumers there are issues? Did Toyota admit the problem of the stuck gas pedals until the NHTSA got involved and did an investigation? Did Apple come out and tell everyone that there are antenna/proximity sensor problems right away? Did Apple tell everyone the white Iphone will be delayed before everyone started ordering them? Thats the way it works. Sometimes its better to keep quiet rather than have people have a run on canceling orders.

Nobody, I mean nobody has one yet, period!

1. No reviews yet by the 20 plus review sites who have mentioned the case on their site since the start of July.

2. There isn't one pic out there on the net of this case. Zero, including Element's website.

3. The type of person who will spend this much on a case would Google it after they got it to see what others though of their's and would have come across us bitching about not having ours and posted just to gloat.

4. We can't even find a person who has gotten a shipping notice yet.

It is quintessential for a startup or small business to be transparent with their customers. Toyota and Apple are not in the same situation, they are sitting on seemingly limitless funds to help them mitigate whatever situation they get themselves into. Apple gave out free bumpers, Toyota dropped prices all because they can both afford to do it. Element cannot, if they started sending out free cases to alleviate the position they put themselves into, they might as well close their doors.

someone who is reg with c.net should post under ther contest forum... let them all know that its not real.. amd/or contact the main guy about a follow up story....

i got a huge kick out of this post:

"by THogan28 July 23, 2010 1:55 PM PDT
This case looks cool but takes away all of your service. I went from 5 bars to 3 the moment I put it on and my speed test was 1880kbps download and 837 kbps upload with out the case. With the case is 976 kbps download and 86 kbps upload. Save your money. "

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I dodnt know a rendering could make your signal drop!!!

Just Got Shipping Notice!

Just wanted to mention that I just received my shipping notice from elementcases.
I chose priority mail and since I live on the east coast that means 3 days.
If nothing else they picked me to give them 3 more days.
My order was #26xx and bought and paid for on July 1st.
Hopefully this is a good sign for all!

Keep the faith!
