I'm an Apple fan but I can't relate to 2/3 of the people posting here....the Apple fundamentalists. Like other forms of fundamentalism prevalent today: Islamic fundamentalism... liberal fundamentalism....It is extremely unbecoming.

Musk has risked his private reputation and own financial well-being to make electric cars. If you want to point out his flaws...go for it. But to slam the guy for making cool cars before Apple has even started trying...is small of mind and spirit.

Typical backtracking from people who are jealous and/or scared of what Apple is capable of and their incredible brand power that has yet to be matched by any other company.

We see this happen all the time, especially recently.
Are you kidding? Do you know who Elon Musk is? I'm guessing from your comment that the answer is no. The man has nothing to be "jealous" of. If you're someone who idolized Steve Jobs, you should know that Elon Musk is cut out of exactly the same mold.

I absolutely could not agree with you more. What bothers me the most is that if the shoe were on the other foot, and this were Jobs a couple years ago ragging on Microsoft or Oracle or any other large company that has shown itself to be good in some areas but has no expertise in others...well, I think we know that the "Apple fundamentalists" as you called them would be cheering loudly and proudly.

Why wouldn't Musk have the right to say whatever he wants? What you can't take away is people's right to react to what he says. Why do you want to celebrate his rights, but take away mine? Do only billionaires have rights?

A cat can look at a king. If you can call Apple fans delusional, they can call Musk classless. And that's okay. It means they care about things, and so do you.

People will react to things Musk says. He's a billionaire, so a few bad reactions are not going to break him. On the other hand, he seems to like his affable image, and it's up to him how much he wants to tarnish it. If he starts to climb the steps to one of his events and hears a few boos mixed in with the cheers, and those boos are coming from people who otherwise would be cheering he may decide to stop doing whatever he was doing that caused those supporters to turn against him.

I never "took away your rights" to say whatever you want. But if you say something incorrect expect to be called out on it. If you say something hypocritical, expect to be called out on it.

Classless? Get out of here. Take a look at any interview this guy has done. He's full of class. Classless compared to who? Steve Jobs? Who's had mixed reviews as to what type of person he was in business? Am I saying that takes away from Steve's accomplishments, no. But he certainly wasn't "classy" by any definition of the word. So why are you trying to use that against Musk? He's not classless, he's visibly and understandably upset. And even if he were. What do you define as "classy" -- unethically approaching another company's employees and enticing them to quit their jobs there and come work for you? Yeah, real classy move by Apple.

Get a freaking clue.

If comments here slamming Musk are representative of the Apple community...where is the door for those of us with class to leave?

Some of you smell rancid.

Tesla's biggest issue is a entry level car, just as every high end car company has. BMW sells the 3 series in huge numbers, It finances the 5,6,7 series. The other issue is their showrooms in malls. The one here in the Boca Towne Center is almost across from a Apple store. They look to busy and overwhelming in design. They are ok but not the detail that you would see in a normal Apple store. Those two issues fixed would definitely would bring up sales an possibly a profit. I see two or three Model S's every day. They seem to sell well here. But flagships are not always the profit centers in automobiles. The profit in the car industry is not as high as companies like Apple.

What are you talking about? First of all the Apple Watch has outsold it's nearest competitor by at least 5x, and that's as a FIRST GENERATION PRODUCT. Only on these forums can something like that not be considered a success or a game changer.

Second, the value of Apple has risen in multiples since Tim Cook has taken over. In fact under his watch (no pun intended) the company is more valuable than it's ever been. Each of his product releases face massive sales expectations, and they exceed those expectations every time. If that doesn't make him, arguably, the best CEO alive today then you have to seriously re-evaluate your criteria.

What... Apple watch is a ok product in a world of crappy products. And re-read my post, I said it wasn't a game changer, but that doesn't mean it isn't successful. And sorry, Apple's revenue growth has come from taking an amazing product line and focusing on new markets like China.

And BEST CEO? What has he done? Rose gold? I guess that is innovation that deserves best CEO. Sorry, I agree with Musk and the plethora of people on here who are open to critique Apple. If anything, Apple's products have played the same game plan they always have... incremental enhancements (which is what makes OSX so awesome and stable). But this incremental strategy has allowed other companies to gamble and leap frog ahead. To be honest, I think 3d touch has lots of potential, but I think think Apple has become quite conservative.

I think Nardella or Musk have done much more then Tim, given Tim took over a golden egg. Anyways.. to each there own. I've jumped to Roku, Chrome Cast, and now looking at Android phones after being in the Apple Ecosystem for 15 years. I'm open to whoever provides the best product....

I think China was inevitable. I like the fact that Tim is using his influence to encourage more tolerance of people's differences and I like the fact that he seems smart enough to surround himself with very smart people who do good work. He unlike Steve doesn't seem to want to be the end all be all decision maker. He seems to understand that guys like Jony are better at design than he is.

Touché, that's fair!

I didn't call Musk classless. I just said people have the right to do it. Nothing he said offends me. I'm a fan of both Apple and Tesla.

And you can call people fanboys if you like, but it certainly isn't a very classy thing for you to do.

Apple acquires Musk and makes him their new ceo

No, I think Apple and many on MacRumors believe Dr Dre is the answer.

Who needs a guy with a weird name like Elon whose only accomplishments have been to leave South Africa after high school without his family's help and broke. Then to only eventually end up at U Penn after immigrating to Canada. Then he drops out of his physics PhD program at Stanford. What a moron. He then starts an internet business at age 24 that he then sells for $22 million then creates PayPal, SpaceX, and Tesla. He then makes his Tesla patents public domain to let others get a head start in making electric vehicles.

If all that isn't strange enough, he's actually trying to figure out how to achieve terraforming of other planets like Mars. What an idiot.

Elon said "Regarding the watch, Jony & his team created a beautiful design, but the functionality isn't compelling yet. By version 3, it will be."

What an idiotic and placating statement. I now know for sure that he is a jerk. A wealthy jerk to be sure. But still a jerk.

Funny thing is he's right about the Apple Watch (regardless of context).
I don't think it'll ever be relevant even by version 3. It's one of those google glass type products, they sound good on paper and geeks think it's the second coming but the reality is you look like you need to go and are rude looking at your watch all the time, that will never change. It's the social context of using an smart watch that makes it fail. Google glass failed because sticking a camera on your face is intrusive on others, it's compounded by glasses being uncool!

There would need to be a fundamental shift in the way people perceive the watch for it to become a social norm. I promise you in 5 gens, apple will drop the apple watch all together.

If you look at the history of Elon Musk he is only a board chaser, looking for a CEO position to secure stock, he's a leech and a hustler, he's not actually done anything himself and most of his fortune came from paypal, which he was essentially fired from because he wanted to get in bed with Microsoft! His Space X company makes a good rocket motor but that is IT! He didn't have anything to do with that. Tesla is only an EV car, not even a particularly great one.

This guy has zero basis for dumping his opinions on any other company especially the most valuable company on the planet. He wishes he was on the board of... Sorry he's a douche.

Elon is a Jobs type of guy.
What is a Jobs type of guy? Almost everything Apple is selling today was initially created under Jobs. Jobs wasn't building rockets or electric vehicles or high-speed rail he was building premium priced consumer electronics.
