Most people in tech don’t have such a bad reputation.

He just encourages everyone, especially VCs, to be really terrible people.

It’s this simple.

When the wealthiest people in society become too wealthy they buy up every means of controlling populations otherwise their fraud and their lies will catch up with them.

And then they wouldn’t be the wealthiest anymore.

They would be in prison.
That escalated quickly. Please tell us what Musk belongs in prison for.

You have to admit, this is fun to watch new all the changes in Twitter by Musk. Maybe a sub model for Vine videos over 6 secs- both viewers and creators? Why not, more money. Oh, and you lazy 9-5 developers, I want this out by Thanksgiving or you are fired. LOL

Is Twitter a means of controlling the population?

If so wasn't it already being used to control the population?

And if so their pattern of censorship is cause of great concern. Maybe the social media sites should be regulated to be free speech platforms if they are really a means of population control without any restrictions other than those imposed on public free speech. If they are a means of controlling the public maximum freedom in a free society seems the obvious response.

That is actually good news. TikTok has become insufferable. As long as they stick to the traditional 6 second rule I can see this being a hit.

This would be great. I don’t understand TikTok but I still watch Vine compilations on YouTube. It do go down…

i'm not sure how to fix twitter in 2022 but it was my favorite mobile app at one time.
i barely use it now so pushing change is not a bad thing, there is potential there.

I personally know more C-level executives without LinkedIn profiles than I do those with them. And those who do have them have staff members who own and update them. No actual executives truly use the platform themselves. My source on this is a c-level executive with Microsoft.

I understand and respect your experience. Not EVERY executive in the world has one. But as a C-level executive with over 25 years experience in the tech industry and having used the platform to network and “communicate” with other C-level executives I can tell you that your experience is in the minority.

Some executives have staff that manage their LinkedIn like any other social media. Absolutely. But it does not mean all of them do. Anyway I’m not advocating for the platform. It’s taken a large nose dive from what it once was. But like I said. It’s a necessary evil. Just like Twitter and many other social mediums.

Every stupid, batsh!t crazy suggestion he has for Twitter, please, everyone, just vote for it. Just click "Yes".

The idea that he can push his developers and testers to implement massive changes within weeks is laughable. Either he doesn't care about testing and he's fine with releasing trash (oh yeah, Tesla), or he has absolute faith in a team of people who have been demoralised by his actions since April. Either way, it'll be fun to watch this 'genius' burn away $44bn of his money.

Unlike Zuckerberg I’m fairly agnostic when it comes to Musk. Overall, all things considered, I think he’s a been more of a force for but obviously he’s far from perfect and I don’t agree with him on everything. Far from it on many occasions.

I’m glad to hear this news. It’s probably too little too late given the proliferation of Snapchat, TikToc and others like it but Vine was cool back in its day. Having a limitation on content length forces you to be short, sweet and to the point but I think the ship has probably sailed for Vine. A lot of older teenagers probably don’t even remember when it was a thing. My nieces were both in high school then and both have graduated from college degrees now with four year degrees. That’s how long it’s been since I can remember seeing posts from a Vine user.

I thought the reason he ended up purchasing Twitter was that he didn’t want to face the lawsuit. Had he not bought it it? He may have to pay back billions or possibly double the amount that was originally offered. So he didn’t have a choice left and ended up buying it to avoid a lawsuit or possibly jail time.

Maybe that's why he hired the top high-level exec's right away because he was mad. They cashed out!
I have a feeling the delay was just to buy time. He wouldn’t have made a legitimate offer without knowing the repercussions of backing out. He had to have seen a return on the investment.

I assume you meant “fired” and not “hired”. He fired the execs because they were incompetent and were destroying the platform. There was no significant attempt to leverage the prevalence and brand recognition of Twitter.

Misinformation is combatted with more correct information. Bad ideas are combatted with good ideas. Not censorship. This was a lesson we learned as a species around 1770s but somehow the digital age made us lose our minds. Censors of information are almost always the bad guys. Adults can handle it and figure it out.
I used to think this, too. It is a fairy tale. Unfortunately, there is ample evidence over the past decade or so that it really does not work that way in the real world. If it did, no one would be bothering about misinformation. It would take care of itself.

One of the biggest flaws with that theory is the unfortunate number of people that believe the misinformation because it is what they actually want to believe. Bad ideas are embraced and the good ideas that are supposed to push them out are dismissed and ignored at best and treated with hostility at worst.
