I'm also new and a lurker here but love the chat on the bands. I can't afford to buy a lot of them, so I'll be watching for ebay says and such, and I don't think I'm after any rare finds. Happy to see the excitement when someone here gets one though. Now I'm going to go wander through other threads to see how you lot store them all.

Welcome!

Nothing wrong with holding out for some deals!

Check that thread, they come in hot & fast:

This proves my fear that the blue and red cases aren’t anything more than novelty. It would be cool to have one as a special occasion watch, but not as your main device. They clash with so many bands.
I liked how it looked on the blue band, but you are correct. From my collection only the blue and blue horizon pairs well (I guess deep navy too), all my other bands look weird.

Then again, the rose gold watch in Series 1 and 2 didn’t pair well with most bands too, so Apple probably isn’t afraid to release striking colors for the watch bodies. Many people only use the single band that comes with the watch after all.

My overall thoughts on Fall 2020 release of Watch bands:

I think Apple actually did a really a good job here and it shows when I've already bought three bands from this season just a week after release. To compare from other recent seasons, Summer 2020, 0, Spring 2020, 0, Winter 2019, 0, Fall 2019, 1 (Pine Green Sport Band). Summer 2019, 4 (Canary Yellow Sport band and loop, same for Cornflower), Spring 2019, 0.

ALSO, good news fellow Aussies, you probably noticed already but several Watch bands got cheaper, Sport Band/Loop is $10 cheaper, Leather Loop is $20 cheaper, anyways, my thoughts:

-Three new styles of Watch Bands to keep things interesting - Three. That is a record number of new bands in a single release and will definitely set an interesting precedent for the future here.

-Sport Loops ditch the controversial two-tone look for something much more subtle is great. I just felt last years design clashed too much. Charcoal is my favourite, Cream close second.

-Braided Loop is actually a really good idea. It's a really snuggly looking Watch band that has a soft, yet enticing look. It's also very comfortable, up there with the Sport Loop. I hope it ages well (ie doesn't become significantly more loose over time). It's price however unfortunately prevents it from becoming a more easy collectible.

-Pride Sport Band from Summer 2020 is retained in the lineup and is still a great option.

-Solo (Sport) Loop I can't say I'm too keen on, for the no-attaching mechanism watches, Braided Loop would be my go to. Sport Bands have long served their purpose, have worked, and don't see why i need to change that for me.

-Sport Band Colors themselves not the best, but not the worst I've seen. Ginger looks more like a summer colour, Stone has been killed off again, Cyprus Green, meh, Pine Green at least was visibly green, Cyprus is just a tad bit too dark for my liking, but honestly its way better than getting a handful of clones of previous colours again

-Leather Link it's great that Apple has finally given 40mm Watch owners the choice for a decent looking leather band again after killing off the Classic Buckle in 2018, even better is unlike CB, the lack of lugs means it wont clash with any Watch. It's also pretty close to the Leather Loop, which today still remains restricted to 44mm for some unknown bureactatic reason. However, it's pretty awkward and disappointing that this is the only watch band that is delayed indefinitely, Apple Stores don't even have demo's of the thing to try on.

Overall, I'm happy. There's a lot to keep the collectors on their toes. I look forward to especially seeing the new band options introduced get new colour options in upcoming seasons (especially Braided Loop and Leather Link).

CYR 2019 is somehow my longest loop

I just took some comparison pics of Ginger, Deep Navy, Cyprus Green, Obsidian Mist and Spruce Aura. They were all taken inside a window on a bright overcast day with an 11 Pro Max and are untouched. The background is a space grey iPad Pro. The darker bands show their colour strongly in that light.

First up is a gratuitous shot of the complete collection as it sits today (my bands only, the ones my wife has are not shown). It’s in a corridor where lighting isn’t great, unfortunately. There are a fair few new bands since the last one a few weeks ago - I think 14.

Trying to show the difference between the 2 Midnight Blues of @MostlyARMless. They actually look more different to the naked eye.

Apparently I wasn’t nearly as consistent with the way I stuck my labels on as I thought I was, especially with the yellow family.

Got all the little tiny buckle screws out, seven of the eight taller lug screws...and the last sunset one stripped and wouldn’t come out. So I have two Halloween/Philadelphia Flyers bicolor modern buckles now. Could be worse! One day I will let a sunset MB keep its silver hardware fully...but today was not that day.

Gaaahh! You've just reminded me that there are two Midnight Blues... I'm now one further away from completion than I thought... off we go to eBay...

In the spirit of the same thing, I just realised I don't have White 2 in my collection. At least that's easy to rectify and Apple dropped the price by NZ$10 with the latest releases so I even saved money with my oversight.
