My overall thoughts on Fall 2020 release of Watch bands:
I think Apple actually did a really a good job here and it shows when I've already bought three bands from this season just a week after release. To compare from other recent seasons, Summer 2020, 0, Spring 2020, 0, Winter 2019, 0, Fall 2019, 1 (Pine Green Sport Band). Summer 2019, 4 (Canary Yellow Sport band and loop, same for Cornflower), Spring 2019, 0.
ALSO, good news fellow Aussies, you probably noticed already but several Watch bands got cheaper, Sport Band/Loop is $10 cheaper, Leather Loop is $20 cheaper, anyways, my thoughts:
-Three new styles of Watch Bands to keep things interesting - Three. That is a record number of new bands in a single release and will definitely set an interesting precedent for the future here.
-Sport Loops ditch the controversial two-tone look for something much more subtle is great. I just felt last years design clashed too much. Charcoal is my favourite, Cream close second.
-Braided Loop is actually a really good idea. It's a really snuggly looking Watch band that has a soft, yet enticing look. It's also very comfortable, up there with the Sport Loop. I hope it ages well (ie doesn't become significantly more loose over time). It's price however unfortunately prevents it from becoming a more easy collectible.
-Pride Sport Band from Summer 2020 is retained in the lineup and is still a great option.
-Solo (Sport) Loop I can't say I'm too keen on, for the no-attaching mechanism watches, Braided Loop would be my go to. Sport Bands have long served their purpose, have worked, and don't see why i need to change that for me.
-Sport Band Colors themselves not the best, but not the worst I've seen. Ginger looks more like a summer colour, Stone has been killed off again, Cyprus Green, meh, Pine Green at least was visibly green, Cyprus is just a tad bit too dark for my liking, but honestly its way better than getting a handful of clones of previous colours again
-Leather Link it's great that Apple has finally given 40mm Watch owners the choice for a decent looking leather band again after killing off the Classic Buckle in 2018, even better is unlike CB, the lack of lugs means it wont clash with any Watch. It's also pretty close to the Leather Loop, which today still remains restricted to 44mm for some unknown bureactatic reason. However, it's pretty awkward and disappointing that this is the only watch band that is delayed indefinitely, Apple Stores don't even have demo's of the thing to try on.
Overall, I'm happy. There's a lot to keep the collectors on their toes. I look forward to especially seeing the new band options introduced get new colour options in upcoming seasons (especially Braided Loop and Leather Link).
