It would be cool if it supports multiple accounts, a la Friendly. That's a great feature on a shared household iPad.

Someone has probably answered this wish (I haven't read all of the posts yet), but.....

I doubt Facebook will ever provide that functionality, because it flies in the face of their assumption/wish that all accounts are created with real names. And since no one has two names there is no need for anyone to have more than one FB account.

Someone ratted me out to FB, and they suspended my account due to suspicion that my name wasn't real (I guess Zuckerberg Playswithhimself didn't fly). I was told that if I wanted it reinstated I needed to scan my I.D. and email it to them. They're that serious about it.

Bottom line: Friendly is the app to use if you want multiple account access. Or, resign yourself to logging out and back in all the time.

UGH I'm ready to throw my phone out the window!:mad:

I updated the Facebook app on my iPhone 4, and it sat there "loading" forever, so I went back to the home screen, deleted it, and reinstalled it from the app store. But then as it was in the "installing" phase, the phone stalled, and became unresponsive. So after ~5 minutes, I forced restart (hold down both power and home buttons for a few seconds). NOW I'm getting the freaking "Wire ==> Itunes" picture! WTF!! Its been so long since I backed up to my laptop, I really don't want to restore if I don't have to. Is this happening to anyone else?? I saw others were having issues on the iPhone 4... What gives?

Any suggestions or solutions?

Wow. If they had only introduced this 2 months ago when I still cared about Facebook then I'd be excited. No ...nevermind...I still wouldn't have been.

This happened to me, minus the connect to iTunes part. Pretty frustrating. Hope you get it figured out.

Same thing that happened to me, had to do a full restore as I mentioned a few pages back. I left my phone for 15-20 mins to try and sort itself out to no avail before admitting defeat and restoring.. Luckily I've only lost a weeks worth of data. Did a fresh install of FB after that, and its worked ok now.

Right after installing the update the app would not open...after about a 5 minute loading screen it started and it works fine so far...much faster and better looking than previous versions

same boat, iphone bricked, restore time. not ****ing happy

I had a similar experience as everyone else here, when installing it on the iPhone 4 running the latest iOS 4 version.

It installed, then would just hang when it was opening. I deleted it, re-downloaded, and then it hung on install. I had to do a hard reset, at which point my phone took about 10 minutes to boot past the apple logo.

I re-downloaded and re-installed again, at which point it finally worked.

Bad QA from Facebook. I bet they only tested on iOS 5 or something weird like that.

Edited for spelling.

This is ridiculous! I went back through this thread a few pages to see others' situations, and if anyone had a solution. It looks like restore is the only option right now... WTF stupid facebook! I really wish I read thru the thread before updating. Who would've thought it would crash EVERYTHING!?!

Is it possible that the phone somehow went into DFU or recovery mode? I tried holding down both buttons again, to get it out of DFU mode if it went into it, but its not working so far... GAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!:mad:

OMG me too, I had to restore it. Ugh.

I deleted the app from both of my iPhone 4s, and then loaded new app. Also loaded it on both my iPad and my iPad 2. Working well on all devices! I like the update much better than the old phone version... That thing hung up on me all the time.

just curious, to the people who's phones crashed and had to do a restore, what version os were you on, and were you jailbroken?

I was on 4.2.1, Jailbroken.

WAIT! YOU DONT NEED TO RESTORE!!!

If your iPod / iPhone is frozen, hold the power button and the home button down at the same time until the phone reboots. Now, this is where it will take a long time (10-20 minutes). You will see the Apple logo come up, and it will be stuck here for about 10-20 minutes until the device decides to start up.

At least this is what happened to me. I was about to do a restore until I decided to wait it out, and it worked.

Hope this helps.

This happened to me on an iPod Touch 4th Gen jailbroken.

Okay, so I'm having SOME progress. According to iTunes, my iPhone is stuck in recovery mode. So I installed tinyumbrella, which is a program that can force your phone out of recovery mode. It does come out of recovery mode, and sits at the apple logo for a couple minutes, as if its restarting like normal, but then it drops back into recovery mode. I think there's something preventing iOS from loading properly.

Like I said, restore is a last resort for me, so I'll keep trying things, and post an update if I figure it out.

They need to find a way to play those flash games.

No its not happening to anyone else because no one else freaked out and put their phone into recovery mode.

It actually happened to a BUNCH of people. Just go thru the past few pages of this thread. I didn't "freak out and put my phone into recovery mode." Something went awry with the installation, and it prevents the phone from booting up normally.
