Had the crash on load on my first-gen iPad, and dumped me to the Springboard. Deleted and reinstalled the app, and it loads now.

If only it made Facebook less a waste of time. :D

just curious, to the people who's phones crashed and had to do a restore, what version os were you on, and were you jailbroken?

I was on 4.2.1, Jailbroken.
4.1 jailbroken.

I removed the app from my phone but I didn't update the one on my Mac. But now it's taking forever to backup.

My iPhone 4 just crashed installing the new facebook. Non-jailbroken :( I haven't synced in 5 days. :'( gonna cry.

Worked fine on my iPad

but when i updated it on my iPhone 4, it just hung on the Facebook loading splash screen, and when it finally loaded my screen had already dimmed (which i have set to do after 3 minutes) so just give it a while on its first load up, works fine afterwards.

UGH I'm ready to throw my phone out the window!:mad:

I updated the Facebook app on my iPhone 4, and it sat there "loading" forever, so I went back to the home screen, deleted it, and reinstalled it from the app store. But then as it was in the "installing" phase, the phone stalled, and became unresponsive. So after ~5 minutes, I forced restart (hold down both power and home buttons for a few seconds). NOW I'm getting the freaking "Wire ==> Itunes" picture! WTF!! Its been so long since I backed up to my laptop, I really don't want to restore if I don't have to. Is this happening to anyone else?? I saw others were having issues on the iPhone 4... What gives?

Any suggestions or solutions?

This happened to me, minus the connect to iTunes part. Pretty frustrating. Hope you get it figured out.

same boat, iphone bricked, restore time. not ****ing happy

Killed my phone, i had to restore it from backup :( same old quality from the Facebook team

WAIT! YOU DONT NEED TO RESTORE!!!

If your iPod / iPhone is frozen, hold the power button and the home button down at the same time until the phone reboots. Now, this is where it will take a long time (10-20 minutes). You will see the Apple logo come up, and it will be stuck here for about 10-20 minutes until the device decides to start up.

At least this is what happened to me. I was about to do a restore until I decided to wait it out, and it worked.

Hope this helps.

This happened to me on an iPod Touch 4th Gen jailbroken.

It actually happened to a BUNCH of people. Just go thru the past few pages of this thread. I didn't "freak out and put my phone into recovery mode." Something went awry with the installation, and it prevents the phone from booting up normally.

I started to panic a bit, but, like itisme said, after a while, the phone comes back.

Steps I took
  1. Downloaded update on iPhone (4 Verizon with 4.2.10 / NOT Jailbroken)
  2. Launched App - Stuck on load screen
  3. Force Quit App
  4. Powered iPhone off and back on
  5. Tried App again - nothing
  6. Deleted App
  7. Downloaded from the App Store
  8. App hung on install
  9. Couldn't Delete App
  10. Restarted iPhone
  11. Stuck on Apple Logo (bricked)
  12. Momentary panic
  13. Connected to iTunes
  14. Pulled up Apple Support and looked for ways to resolve "stuck on apple logo"
  15. Heard my phone chirp
  16. iTunes showed it was syncing
  17. iTunes finished syncing/Facebook app shown on the Apps tab as being installed
  18. Checked iPhone - no Facebook App
  19. Tryed re-syncing with iTunes - still showed as there, but it wasn't
  20. Tried reinstalling from App Store on iPhone - Told me it had a problem installing and would be available in iTunes and to sync
  21. Synced iPhone and app installed and was able to launch properly.

Okay, so since I didn't update the facebook app through iTunes i was able to delete the one off my phone and install the previous version, so everything seems normal.

Will wait until this is sorted out before updating again.

DO NOT UPDATE FOR IPHONE

this POS bricked my phone. First the garbage app wouldn't even load after numerous times. Then I deleted it. After that the phone was freezing up hardcore, not responding to any home button presses or touches. Then I turned it off and turned it back on. Its been stuck at the boot up apple logo. After the 4th try of turning it back on/off its been sitting in my room on the boot up for 10 minutes.

For the record:

iPad 1, 16GB, stock software, v4.3.5

Everything done directly from the device (no iTunes involved)

Updated around 6pm EST, app start-stops

Deleted app

Installed from App Store, using the iPhone version

Logged in, app runs very solid, checked image upload, posting, chat, maps, and security/privacy area.

Unbelievable. Some part of me is thinking this is some attempt by facebook to sabotage the iPhone. This is the first time ever that installing an app completely ****ed my phone. I finally got it back up and running, after restoring, as it was going into an infinite reboot cycle. From the looks of it, I'm not alone. How can facebook be THIS incompetent? Unbelievable. I hardly touch facebook so God knows why I bothered in the first place.

Notifications don't work for me AT ALL. But at least it doesn't freeze/crash anymore.

it's funny because this **** works smooth as butter for me I don't even know what your all talking about lol. I don't mean to troll or nothing but its awesome.

Looks like this is an issue unique to the iPhone 4 guys - everyone who updates the app on their iPhone 4 appears to be having the exact same issue with their phones ending up on endless reboot cycles.

Can anyone confirm they have had no issues on an iPhone 4 after updating this app?

no issues at all on my verizon iPhone 4 and using iOS 4.2.10. Also works excellent on my iPad 2 wifi with iOS 4.3.5

Facebook?.. who cares?

Only about 300 million people around the world!

Arn, please, moderate already. The forum is, frankly, crap these days, and tolerating posts that are, I believe, against board policy only encourages people to keep pushing the limits.

Arn, please moderate the total number of comma's allowed in one sentence while your at it. :D Just kiddn'

Same exact thing happened to me. I'm not even jail broken. I was about to set it to restore and go to bed, but after about 10 minutes of the apple logo it did boot up. It works now but the phone itself does not run as smooth. I may restore anyway.

What a piece of garbage. Their app dev team are useless.
