It's not "hating" if it's true. This is embarrassing, and it was evident by CF's stammering delivery that he is embarrassed presenting this.
Subjective and vague. What are you talking about? Craig seemed energetic and excited to me, as usual.

With the new feature already buggy, there is no telling what could happen with it running this beta. I can see people getting mad that their messages suddenly disappeared as if they were erased etc.

Just want people to be cautious and think about the importance of what could happen. If nothing bad happens, that is great.
Seriously? Post facts, not FUD.

I’m actually interested to try Memoji. Especially if it’s actually realistic. Apple should just buy Bitmoji and integrate it into messages or camera app.

It looked pretty damn good when Tim Cook was on the group FaceTime. Like creepy good.

Better performance is literally the only thing in iOS 12 that holds ANY interest for me. Perhaps the most underwhelming iOS update ever. Oh well, iOS 11 doesn’t need much anyway.

Group notifications and shortcuts are nice, but I agree. Then again the OS is good it just needs refinement. It is still buggy and craps out on my X too often.

Was really hoping for 2 features I know many wanted, Dark Mode and Always On Display for the X.

I had assumed iOS would get a dark mode since a) Mac OS is getting one and b) with the new OLED display devices, a dark mode doesn't just look cool, it'a also functional (it saves battery life). I was disappointed that they would add it to Mac OS where it doesn't serve much of a purpose except eye candy and not iOS where it would actually help me out.

Maybe it's not ready yet. I"m guessing it'll be on one of the 12.X updates.

You can now just swipe up to close an application from app switcher, instead of long pressing first.

I know it's weird, but the little things like this are what add up to make iOS a pleasure to use. There will be those one step back two forward moments, like here, but still it is progressing forward.

My wifi calling has gone. No switch to turn it it on or off.

The release notes with this beta are long and list a dozen or more apps (all EA games, e.g.) that will have issues. You may not lose iMessages, but if you did Apple is not going to have much sympathy.

I've installed these early preview betas before and usually regretted it due to instability and app incompatibilities. I went a month last year without access to my main banking app.

Also, FYI, a *bunch* of the highlighted features are not yet shipping on iPads. Like multi-user FaceTime.

I really look forward to hearing reports back from you brave souls installing today, so thank you guys for taking one for us and telling about your impressions!

Rumours has it that a large update / re-design to springboard was planned for iOS 12 but got pushed back to iOS 13 due to the massively increased focus on refinement, performance and stability. I guess dark theme was a part of the update/re-design to springboard and therefore got pushed back to iOS 13.

When someone gets this installed, can you take a look at the music app and report back? I was really hoping for a Music app revamp and Music wasn't mentioned at all today. I'm hoping for something more like the iOS 9 music app with the Loved icons being on the now playing and lock screen ... not buried.

Nope. The major design’s changes will definitely come only on iOS 13

Feel stable so far.

Not much in the visual department..
- frosted glass effect is back while sliding the notification center down
- the music notification is now frosted black glass (which looks weird and out of place)
- new Books application which looks totally different than other apps (sadly)
- redesigned album section of Photos app
- redesigned app bar in iMessage
- there is a new menu in iMessage when you click a contact
- grouped notifications
- Apple Maps dark mode works again when in the dark

This must be the most boring iOS update ever when it comes to UI

There honestly isn't a whole lot that I want my iPhone to do that it can't do already. I'm glad they are taking the time to optimize the OS to run as efficiently as possible. Stability, battery life, and ease of use are always good things and contribute to the longevity of Apple's installed device base and the value of their products.

Now if they would finally get rid of the "grid of icons" and introduce variable display apps that can be customized by the user I would be very happy. I would like a quick glance at the weather with changing background colors to indicate temperature, news headlines, and email & text summaries. Everything else can go onto a secondary launch page. Other people would prioritize differently, like wanting to see new social media posts. The widget screen and notifications are OK, but I know Apple could do so much better.
