What I’d like to know is whether it would support landscape Face ID like my iPad Pro
No, it’s the same FaceID sensor as the iPhone 11...What I’d like to know is whether it would support landscape Face ID like my iPad Pro
Same. I’m waiting this out until 2024 when Apple is rumored to release their first iPhones with Apple-built modems after acquiring Intel’s modem division. I’m sure these new Apple built modems will be way more power efficient than anything Qualcomm can provide to Apple...No one cares. 5G is going to be a thing in 3 years the earliest, until then its just marketing. Also, this Qualcomm chip inside is a powerhog. I'll wait this out as there is no point getting 5G now.
Lol they do. And every year it’s false. Initial launch phones have a warmer tint. And then The good screens return in 6 weeks. Same since iphone 3g.“iPhone 12 Pro has a warmer display than iPhone 11 Pro Max". Seems like people say this every year comparing to the previous device. 🤷♂️
Another couple of reasons why I’m not upgrading:
So yeah, nice try Apple, I’m not upgrading my iPhone this year. Maybe next year?
- I have the iPhone X. It still works perfectly fine and it is almost in mint condition. No cracks and just minor scratches due to wear and tear.
- There is obviously no must-have feature, for me at least, that has convinced me to upgrade from the iPhone X to the 12. All of the upgraded features announced for the 12, compared to the X, seem minor to me.
- I’m not that much into photography, so the camera improvements on the 12 versus the X, also don’t seem that
significant.- 5G is, as everyone else here has already concluded, snake oil this year. You shouldn’t upgrade just because these phones have 5G.
Now, if instead Apple was talking about those rumored AS Macs? I’m hooked and I will be there day 1! 4 hours to a hypothetical double-digit battery life on a laptop? I’m in!
I just turn true tone off. No harm done.Pacific Blue remains absolutely stunning!
Uh oh, warmer displays... here we go...
Personally, I don’t think I will mind a warmer display (in reason). With increased time in front of monitors, I’ve purchased blue light blockers to avoid eye strain. Yes, I get up and walk around and look away. It’s still a cumulative affect over time.
To each their own, my friend. If I were in your shoes, it feels like the perfect time to upgrade from an X. The iPhone X was the first "new re-design" and stayed that way for the next 3 years. This iPhone 12 is also the first "new re-design" for likely the next 3 years. You'd get a new re-design for the outside, making it feel new. Plus, a better camera system, night mode camera, more ram, double the storage, a larger screen, magsafe tech, and 5G (even if you don't activate it, it's an upgrade)... I do wonder what else they can possibly improve upon that's more towards you. There will always be more efficient chips, modems, batteries, cameras, etc.. Considering the new outside casing, next year will be an even more incremental update.
Of course, this is me on an enthusiast website saying this. For those that want or need to make their phone as long as they can, the X is an awesome phone, and your plan to wait until 2024 (from your other posts) is doable. Cheers.
Some will be warm some won’t.I’m looking forward to getting my Pro tomorrow, but not gonna lie, the “warmer” comments have me seriously worried. I’m hoping they had true-tone and night shift on. If not.....ugh.
It doesn't sound like anyone who has received their new iPhone 12 Pro has ANY High-Perf Apps to test out.
Both new "Pro" models have ~5.6 GB of DRAM !
That should make a BIG difference with certain apps !

It's a PHONE not a computer or even an iPad. What kind of "high performance" apps are there on a phone? And for what?It doesn't sound like anyone who has received their new iPhone 12 Pro has ANY High-Perf Apps to test out.

yeah the main reasons to upgrade from the X is likely photography otherwise the x is still an amazing phone ! I’m pretty much going to get the 12 pro max for the photography reason aloneAnother couple of reasons why I’m not upgrading:

Reviewers get hand-picked non yellow screens every year. Apple display phones are also usually pristine examples. It’s the consumer that doesn’t compare they get screwedInteresting that none of the early reviewers/“influencers”(gag) mentioned anything about warm displays. Well, none that I read or watched.

I don't want to hear another person here complaining that the U.S gets Apple stuff first. It's not even Friday here in the U.S in any time zone so other than a big YouTuber the rest of us in the U.S have to wait until tomorrow. SMH.
