iPod touch FOR CANADIANS: Online order status / Store stock

I agree 100% with the post above... Others have said that we are impatient, but it's the pure lack of respect from Apple as a company that is disappointing.

Again I feel they are locking us in by putting us in Prepared for Shipment status, knowing damn well it hasn't shipped and isn't prepared, but they don't want us all to cancel.

$50 is $50, and yeah I got that back, but beleive me, if this unit has not shipped by the 28th, as it said, I will be on the phone, and I will demand either they cancel my order or additional compensation (Free applecare anyone?)

They did offer to let me return it when it gets here -- but I don't have $1000 to spend on 2 ipod's and then wait a month for the refund. Not to mention that corporate and acedemic discounts are not available in the Apple Store so I am forced to purchase online. It's a joke.

Best Buy Canada sale

I was at Best Buy in Vancouver and asking them about whether the new iPods will go on sale before Xmas. They mentioned they'll be rotating their usual $20 off discount on the new models. I was surprised to hear that since the new models were just released.

The 80GB Classic is now on sale

Keeping fingers crossed the Touch has same discount.

Phew - I thought I was the only one that felt that way, and that I was going to be flamed. Wouldn't be the first or the last time.

This is my problem as well. Although, if you ordered by credit card, perhaps you could call visa/MC/amex and tell them the store refuses to cancel the order, and see if they can do anything to resolve the issue.I haven't called apple and fought to cancel the order yet, just in case there isn't an abundant supply in local stores - I don't want to have to come crawling back to Apple's online store, and I don't want to wait forever for BB to get them.

Having said that, if my iPod doesn't ship by tomorrow, I am going to stop playing "mr nice guy" with apple. I have been very nice and polite every time I've called, but tomorrow, that will certainly stop.

I got a week 37 16gb touch from yorkdale 2 days ago, and there are no screen issues at all. checked with multiple sources, and it seems that all the week 37's in the stores are good. There were 2 week 37's on display as well and they were both good. if you havent already...go pick one up from yorkdale! i had 2 preorders going and cancelled both cause they took too long.

i ll be going to yorkdale today to check them out if i like them(which i am sure i wil) im going to wait until the weekend when i ll be going to buffalo anyways and i ll be getting one, there with the price of the dollar exchange it ll be cheaper to buy it there than here i d save even more because taxes there are 7% i believe and at yordale it d be 14% soooo yeah but great finally we have them at yorkdale...:D

But then, when going back home, don't you have anything to "declare"? ;)

IMPORTANT

I just called apple again, and finally got someone who was at least willing to talk to me. rather than say 28th and goodbye.

For one thing, if you return your iPod to Apple.ca you will pay shipping. That's what he told me.

Second, he said since I'm "prepared for shipping" he said he could NOT do anything ie change your shipping method. This puts into question all the people who said their methods were changed for them. I'm not saying the posters were not being truthful. What I'm saying is the Apple employees probably told them they were doing something when in fact they had no control. Maybe Apple Inc. made the decision / changes on their own before the products shipped.

Either that, or the guy I spoke with was an idiot...

I'm not exactly sure what everyone's situation is, but just to confirm, you CAN return your Ipod even if it is in the "Prepared for Shipping" Stage. Heck, Apple told me you can return it even if it has been delivered. And I know this because I did it myself. It was in the prepared for shipment stage for 6 whole days when I told the Apple rep that I just want to cancel it and go to the Apple store (in Toronto) and get one myself. So what she did was put in a cancelation order for me (even if it is engraved) and said when I recieve the item, to put it in a return package (which they will send) and return it back. You OTHER option is to not accept the item at all from Fedex. And your last option is to accept the item, and then send it back yourself. But I will guarantee, you CAN return it regardless if it already has been shipped. Make sure you get Apple to send you the return packages.

Except with my now $75 discount -- walking into an apple store isn't worth it.

I want the damn thing shipped... The fact it's sitting in a prepared state STILL is BS... Apple would have been better off (monitarily) to cancel my order completly and let me go get one at the Apple Store.

I am not giving them the extra $$$ and then have to wait for the refund.

Well, I felt the same as you, but it does say ship by the 28th. And I know that it isn't fair that other people have recieved theirs already, but Apple didn't guarantee that yours would be shipped before everyone elses. It's like this. Apple is saying, we have a product that will ship by September 28th. If you want it, buy it. If you don't, don't buy it.

I'm not saying you can't return it - I'm saying you pay the return shipping. That's what the Apple guy told me when I called.

I haven't fought to cancel the order because maybe by some miracle, apple will get me the pre-order before i can find one at bestbuy. as with nintendo wii, you couldn't get one in the store for several weeks even though it was released. if i get one in hand here, i will then fight with apple. Alternative is to buy one at bb and return the bb one when the apple.ca one comes.

was my guy just BSing me, or what? (with regard to changing shipping etc during "prepared for shipping)

btw, the fact that she cancelled while it was in prepared shipping, and the fact that it still came to you, shows that she in effect did NOTHING. You had to ship the order back (ie "cancel" it) after you got it

Yeah that's the unfortunate part. It has to still come to your home because there is no way of getting the FedEx guy to search for the single item considering he or she probably has a ton of things to ship. It would also not be cost effective to search for the item in the middle of shipment because the other items need to be delivered on time. However, Apple should send you a return package which basically pays for the item to be returned at any FedEx location. Apple (I think) has a deal with Fedex to be their 3rd party logistics so I don't think they charge per item; it's probably on a contract basis.

I understand it's suppose to ship BY tomorrow. The problem is that "Prepared for shipment" implies the product is ready to be given off to a shipping company. This doesn't make sense since, in my case, since Monday they could have shipped my touch. Some believe it's to lock down your order. I would think so too but you can simply ship it back for a full refund. So there must be some problem somewhere in their chain of production/delivery and they aren't saying anything. In any case, if my touch doesn't ship tomorrow, I will find a way to get some form of compensation. They promised by the 28th.

... And I'll make sure to no longer buy my iPods direct from Apple. Apparently, pre-ordering from them or buying it from their stores or from other stores doesn't make a difference. I'll still get my iPod at about the same time.

WTF do you work for apple? You sure are making excuses like them...

Don't give me that Sept 28th, BS... Bottom line, people who ordered a week after myself and many others have their product IN HAND. That's a huge slap in the face.

I'm with you on that one... still haven't shipped and ordered on the 8th... bull****....

just picked up a 16gig touch at westworld in vancouver
5 left as of 2:00. no problems, works like a charm

I can't believe you guys! Come on, it's a new product launch for crying out loud! It's to be expected you're gonna have to wait a little. Besides, Apple said they will ship it by the 28th at least give them til that before complaining. No one promised it to you any sooner. Sure, I expect to get flamed for this but who cares, grow up people! You all sound like you're 5 years old with your Mom and Daddy at Toy's R Us throwing a temper tantrum in the middle of the aisle. Geez!

HUGE BREAKING NEWS

Inspired by the WestWorld Vancouver sightings, I just called the Edmonton store.

I was told HAD several 16G this week, and sold out (don't know when more are coming)

but the other thing he said was that they did not receive any 8G units because THEY HAVE BEEN HALTED BY APPLE. He said something is wrong with them, and they have no ETA on when they will have any of these.

Simple anger has now turned into white rage.

Can you guys call to other WestWorld stores and see if they give you the same kind of info? I told the guy thanks because he has told me more in 2 seconds than talking to 10 different 1-800-MYAPPLE people have been able to tell me

Edit: now my VOIP phone isn't working...are they all conspiring to make me go postal today? lol
