OK, I'm pacified for now. I called and finally spoke with a reasonable person. SHe didn't know much more (told me it should be shipping today, arriving between 9th - 11th as per my bill) so I said please send me a return box... so she said sure I can do that, or i can give you a free accessory if you would like...
So I looked, looked, and ended up asking her to put me on hold (that's got to be a first) so that I could find what I wanted. She suggested some headphones. After looking for a while, I settled on the Sennheiser PX100 Headphones as she suggested.
So, now I have to live with my decision to "sell out" and wait a little bit more patiently. Apple should know they're on very, very thin ice though

Since when? I didn't even know about my corporate discount until a week after I bought a mac mini for my daughter, and all I did was flash my company badge and they handed me back a refund and a re-worked receipt. This was at Sherway Gardens which is a 5 minute drive from home.
And yes, I am a W308, also in Prepared since Monday, Order Date: Sep 5, 2007 at 12:36 PM PDT, 16G engraved. It is annoying that it hasn't shipped yet, especially when you go to apple.ca and it has a big splash about the Now Shipping ipod touch, but what're you going to do? I'm sure there's a huge amount of logistics involved in rolling out an international launch like this, and someone's always going to get their's before you. That said, I will likely try to get through to Apple and ask them what's up if it doesn't change by tomorrow.
Got my 8gb this morning. Ordered from vistek with over night shipping to Nova Scotia. I believe they had 5-6 8gb's and more 16gb's in stock.
The thing that bugs me, is prepared for shipping they lock you into the order, its been 4 days my credit card is still not charged but there's no way to cancel it which is horrible.
Funny how my order said not yet shipped for weeks, and the day it says prepared for shipping im here the apple store at yorkdale and eaton centre has them in stock.

For those looking in BC I picked up a 16gb touch this morning at my local(Kelowna) Simply Computing store, they have a few locations around BC.
They only had the 16gb model but they had like 8 of them in stock. Mine seems to be a week 38, I tried a video and no screen issues.

Simply Computing (Broadway) Vancouver and West World Computing (Broadway) vancouver have them in stock now. I would caution on buying from West World because they won't let you return or exchange your ipod if there is problem with the screen, because it's not "officially" admitted by Apple.
I already got dinged 15% restock fee from West World because they won't let me exchange the problem ipod.
I don't know about Simply computing though...
I agree our dollar is almost the same it is robbery what they are doing to us and mine has not even been shipped yet.

Me to, I ordered on sept 7 and it still has not shipped. Do you think it will ship tonight?
Ugh. I did just call Apple though, and he said they ARE shipping today(I'm obviously taking that with a grain of salt). But he did knock off the 2-3 day shipping charge for me. It'll have to do.

Just got off the phone with both the Eatons apple store and Apple itself. They said sending back my engraved ipod will be fine and are sending me labels and such to do so... I just have to wait for that refund money. (Don't worry -- I also recorded the name of the person I talked to and their extention, just in case).
Also, called the apple store, who said they had TONS of both the 8 and 16 gig ipods (I reserved one anyways), so I'll be headed down there tonight and picking one up.
It's a real shame apple has to screw people around like this. I would be more upset, but I'm getting a touch in an hour!

I really think it depends more on who you talk to (luck), rather than what you say.
Be VERY nice (if you yell at people, they will not want to help you!)
I just gave her my order #, she checked, said it should be shipping 28th which is today, and i said Im really tired of waiting and I would rather just get one in the store here. Can you please send me the return box thing so I can send the iPod back when I get it? She said sure I can do that, but what if I gave you a complementary accessory would that change your mind?
BTW I reconsidered headphones since I am ok with the plain apple ones...although COME ON give us black head phones with black Touch PLEASE lol. Anyway, I traded that for a $60 (same value) Component AV set that has a charger in it I think. Will be much more useful.

And so my story ends. Called the local Best Buy. They were nice enough to hold one of the last two 16 GB touches for me. My call with Apple also went well. I asked if I could cancel. He said no (obviously) but told me he could send me by e-mail something to put on the package I'll receive so I can return it, free of charge, and get a refund of the price + taxes. Can't wait to play with my new touch; it's syncing right now.

Yeah, if mine still says Prepared for Shipment tomorrow I'll be tempted to swing by Sherway and see if they have any, take one home, and then return it when mine finally shows up (engraved). It seems kind of petty and an abuse of the Apple store to buy something you know you'll take back, but they should have treated the pre-order people better. I mean, if some place like California gets them before we do thats understandable, but not getting them to people in the same area is a bit much. Even if it would finally move into shipping state I wouldn't be so annoyed.
