I'm guessing that people who are complaining about the streaming selection may just be really bad at finding good things to watch. Here is a sampling from my Instant Watch queue. If you can't find things on this list to watch, I don't know what to tell you...and this is just a drop in the bucket compared to what they have available. Hope it helps.

i am sure this is in the works at Netflix. because it wouldn't take much more than the iphone programming.

but.... ITS APRIL FOOLS DAY. so i bet it isn't even close for this program

Netflix really wants to get away from shipping DVDs in a bad way! I've never streamed one thing and yet my default page automatically is set to the watch now section.

Netflix will be thrilled to get rid of shipping mailers and postage.

Also this screenshot from appshopper has a link in it that says "play on computer". Would the link not say "Play on iPad" or maybe even just "Play" if this was an iPad App?

It just might say that if you watch it on an iPad. It doesn't say watch on your Blu Ray Player, your XBOX360, your PS3 or your Wii either, but you can use Netflix on all those devices as well.

No I won't link yet another batman comic, but for me, this is the most important addition to the app store for the iPad there could be. Kudos to Netflix for keeping it silent for so long.

It's going to be very hard not to get one now...

Will it work over 3G!!!

Almost certainly. There has been no mention of limiting application use over 3G. In fact that would sort of defeat the purpose.

Netflix and the Ipad

Just watching those that got an Ipad early for review had me hyped and ready. Now with netflix too, OMG! This better not be an April fools joke, or I'll feel like such a noob.

If its an April fools joke then its a cruel one. Especially with its multi-site orchestration. I wish they announced it yesterday or even tomorrow. Don't know people would be skeptical.

wait wait wait

Does this mean that Apple will now allow competition to its Movie business, holy sh*t hell has frozen over, hahahaha.

I wonder what else they will allow?
Playboy app with full nudity streaming video?

haha, how fast Apple has changed the game plan again. :)

April Fools. Unless Netflix has a press-release... like they did with the PS3 and the Wii, no dice.

Makes me wonder if they may reverse engineer this one and make it work on the iPhone. At the very least I would love a Netflix App I could use the add things to my List.

This is really cool but I too wish it could be adapted to my iPhone. As for adding to your list, you can try the itv app.

Does this really exist? Given that this is what their stance was, two months back —
I hope it is not Fool's day gimmick – how on earth did they manage to migrate from 'silverlight' based player which took them so many months to develop and release for the Mac?

PS: Never mind, I guess Microsoft's Silverlight transcoding tool works really well!

Those screenshots are literally coming directly from Apple, their servers, so unless Apple is pulling some sort of joke the Netflix app is legit.

Im sure many would disagree with you. You either have bad vision or a poor quality internet connection because I watch their instant movies often and the quality is just fine.

It is Fine, HD is about what you get on the Cable Services, maybe a notch below if you have good bandwith, but seriously it's a 10inch screen.

Yesssssss!
Every day I'm more glad I preordered my 3G!
The reviews are out today and they are glowing.
Can't wait to hear what real people think, check one out at the store, and finally find out for myself later this month.

OK, that does it. Give me a basic $499 iPad, low-end DSL and Netflix plans, and a glucose drip. I will never need to get out of bed. I can lie in my own filth for the rest of my life and accomplish nothing ever again! :) Just give me a jar to spit my teeth into as vitamin deficiency takes hold.

P.S. Nice icon from MR: :apple:

Amen.

April Fools. Unless Netflix has a press-release... like they did with the PS3 and the Wii, no dice.

I'm tending to wait until netflix itself actually announces, but I'm about 95% sure its real, considering the links people have posted and that fact macrumors is putting it up on the front page.

If its not real, and just a joke, its a pretty awful joke, since its getting people so excited. I think if it isn't real though, the outpouring of excited people must show to netflix it needs an app quickly.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Am I the only one who thinks this is an April Fool's joke? You really think the application interface would just be the website?

this is an elaborate april fools trick....let me tell you how it works.

a paid developer makes screen shots on xcode using the ipad simulator.
then he uploads the screenshots but not the binary..
now the screen shots are on apples "servers"...
he gets the links to the shots and post them..
no u have a netflix app with "legit" pics from their "servers"
and no press from netflix...really...something this big...a more portable and profitable solution for netflix and ur not publishing a release?
april fools guys...

Fail. You can already get Netflix for Windows on a netbook. Why would I want to watch it on a device that has half the functionality?
