The S8, with its dock that turns it into a DESKTOP PC, has been tested to even provide sufficient compute power to run it as a portable/mobile desktop platform -- and unlike iOS, Android CAN multi-task and PROPERLY run multiple applications simultaneously (what you would expect from a true desktop). Try doing that with an iPhone.

Is this really a tentpole feature of the Galaxy S8 now?

As I said in an earlier comment... I think it's a cool idea. I'm not sure it will ever take off and be used by a large population... but it's cool nonetheless.

But don't forget... Apple has been able to sell a billion iPhones without this sort of feature.

So I think Apple will be OK :D

Seems rushed when the S8 is launched without Bixby. But then again, the iPhone 7+ was released without portrait mode. And it's still in beta. Lets just hope both companies aren't rushing out their products nowadays before they're 100% ready to go.

Apple should note that if you miss a cycle fanboys really want the next one.
Apple should note that if you are honest and open people like that.

Can you imagine the publicity damage Samsung will take if these phones turn out to be faulty and start exploding... just saying

Wish a third competitor gets in the game...competition is good

Better file management is #1 for me, I just drag/drop photos and videos, no need to sync through iTunes.

I also barely found out about launchers and have a new love for android. You can truly make it your own phone. Managed to whip up the home screen below and I'm a total newbie!

I don't know, I haven't used iTunes for syncing in years and iCloud works well for file management, along with many other cloud services. I suppose skinning and such can be cool, but I find it degrades the system over time.

Well.... where do I start?
I will give you one small example (this is one of many)
Secure Folder! This is like having a secondary account on your phone. One personal and one work! Any app can be added to secure folder and secure folder can only be unlocked by iris scanner or fingerprint scanner. I can't believe Apple themselves have not implemented a touch ID on apps like photo gallery for example! Is not uncommon for a person to hand their device to someone, to look at apps like maps for directions and all the sudden they are in the photo apps.

That's a fine example. I think Apple did this with Notes, but I agree, you should be able to do it with a folder. I am not sure if there are 3rd party options at this point. Still pretty minimal to me, no reason to question a platform over it.

And yet more people buy iPhones every year than any Samsung phone. I think their design, services, and OS are doing just fine.

This is my opinion about that company.
If you don't agree its your problem.
No need to insult everyone who thinks differenlty.
Show some respect if you are more than 5 yourself.
but what adult uses sucksung? kind of thing an immature kid would say. Nothing about samsung suck either they are a quailty company with a real threat to apple and believe it or not the phone apple are bringing out this year is due to what samsung has brought out they are being made to respond.

They deserve the sales, I saw the S8 in person and it blows away the iPhone 7 in terms of hardware and design makes my phone look antiquated
How does keeping the side frame design and the back the same for two generations make the S8 futuristic. The only thing that changed was the screen size, how does that make the design futuristic? And people complain that iPhone design hasn't changed, but don't hold Samsung to the same standard. The design is the same, with the exception of a new screen.

The downside for me is that the screen aspect ratio does not seem ergonomical, holding the phone will cause fingers to cover some of the screen, which will render some parts of the screen obscured and will most likely result in inadvertent inputs. There will be black side bars when video is being watched, apps designed for the 16:9 aspect ratio will look terrible.

But hey, the phone should look cool, which is all the matters, even if it's ergonomics are diminished, and form doesn't follow function.

Phone looks nice, but only if Samsung kept Android unmodified and didn't share the bed with the carriers, it would be a compelling phone.

Maybe I am lost then? You said the iPhone doesn't outsell Samsung phones. The data shows exactly that. And to your article, I am not talking market share. Samsung can put out 10-15 cheap phones a year on buy one get one deals and get that number up. Means nothing.
I gave you an article which clearly shows Samsung outsells Apple, and from THIS site nonetheless. And you STILL argue about it.

You do realize what marketshare is? Right? I highly doubt it as you and others like to dismiss it as if it's meaningless. It's not. Unless it comes to Apple of course.

Point is, Samsung outsells Apple by a large margin YEARLY which is what my original reply was refuting.

And I'm not going to respond to you any further, in fact, I won't see your posts. You clearly have the Apple mindset and it is showing it's ugly face.

Ah, so you are saying Samsung, as whole (all the phones they make, maybe 100+, I really don't know) outsell the few iPhone's available. Yes, that is true. From your first comment, it sounded like you were saying the S8 or the Note were going to outsell the iPhone, which would never happen. The market share argument is fair, I just don't see the value or validity of it. They make hundreds of cheap phones that they give away for free, does that mean they are doing a "great" job just by flooding the market with crappy phones? I guess if that's your goal. I'd prefer quality over quantity if it were my company.

If marketshare is fair, profit share is also fair.
