Bit of a coincidence that they decided to add a new form factor after they’ve known for a while now that Apple required screens of a certain aspect ratio. I think they pulled the trigger once their main competitor decided on a Passport Fold.
There’s nothing wrong with that. & there’s no need for a passionate debate on it. Good for them, good for Apple, but most importantly, good for us.

Just got an email, delayed till the 9th 😡
Mines arrived (along with with Ears4 pro and Watch Ultra 2).
First impressions is how light it and thin it is even when folded. I had an Iphone 17Pro Max only for a couple of months but didn't really get on with it and swapped it out for a OnePlus15 which was the same screen size as the 17 pro.
The 17 Pro Max is a bit of brick :/
Fold 8 is barely wider than the OnePlus 15 and seems to be only as thick when folded so still slim and thinner than the 17 Pro Max. Once unfolded, its amazingly thin and light!
Both screens are really nice and having a bigger keyboard when unfolded is immediately much better.
Early days as still setting it up but so far, impressive.
On a side note, unsure if i actually want the Watch 2 Ultra but with the discounts and deals, I essentially got it almost free so could sell it on boxed if needed 🙂

I'm in the US. I just got shipping notice but has not left the warehouse yet so UPS does not have it yet but I expect it to move today and probably get it 2 days from now

I don’t think the Fold 8 Wide was in the cards until they found Apple was making one… and Samsung had the advantage of being in the know given they are the display supplier.
With how this all been carried out… I have no idea what Samsung has in the cards for us lol

No idea with Samsung this year, for 10 years I have always got my new phone on time or often 1 or 2 days earlier
I just double checked on line and its not the 9th but the 15th when i am on holiday.
By chance on Samsung members there is now an additional code for a further £100 off
So I have cancelled the 15th delivery and selected the 22nd when I am back and saved another 100 🙂

I think UPS needs to pick up TBH, I also noticed last night when I looked at my order it showed the IMEI of my new device, did you see that on yours?

I’ve had the IMEI number since the 24th… when we got the preparing for shipment notification, this whole process does not make much sense to me. It is what it is, sure I’ll get it by Friday…

I'm sure I had it also from the beginning but just happened to notice it yesterday, I actually called customer service last night and I should know better than to call on the weekends lol. I'm trying to see if I can get a credit on my original order since they sent me a new offer for accessories and when I did the math right before I try a new checkout it comes out to $653 all in with more accessories. SMH. At this point I don't know if I'm going to try to call them again this morning and get someone here in the US to issue a credit if I have time today. If not I'm just going to let it go for once though I know myself I usually don't let things go haha

I've just been reading on Reddit about folks getting their Samsung Z Fold 8s and I think I'm going to get one myself - but I'll keep my 15 Pro Max as I want to trade that in for the 18 Pro Max when it's released
I'm cautious about buying new mobiles on eBay UK, more so ones like these, that folk will have clearly gotten on a contract renewal, so I'll probably buy outright either via Samsung UK or Amazon UK
Does anyone know if there are any publicly available discount codes for Samsung UK?
I've already got a Benks carbon case, Spigen case and Spigen screen protector in my Amazon checkout haha 😂

Yup, it's all about what your willing to compromise when picking a phone. For me, compromising ever so little on the compactness of my Flip7, was totally worth the extra screen real estate. I'm reading more and more Flip users upgrading to the Fold 8.
