Latest upgrade seems to be working on iOS9 and watch iOS2. App now loads and courses are seen. Let's see on the course today.

Tried over two rounds over the weekend. Now working well.
New Watch feature makes everything easier, distances front. middle, back are now main feature of the screen. Score input and moving to next hole seem faster. Great stuff.

Feature that would be handy - automatic move to the next hole.

I played a couple rounds this weekend.
For the first time since I got this app it now worked reasonably well.
I'm on ios9.1 beta2 and awos2.
Yardage updates reasonably quick now, and there are few if any glitches on the awos side of things.
The longest it took was about 2 secs, which is decent!
I was terribly disappointed with this app, but now it seems to be worth sticking with.

Those features were part of the previous version, but I know you were having issues with ios9...and yes I agree they are much better. Glad to hear they fixed the compatibility issue with ios9.

What glitches are you seeing? I haven tried last weeks version yet on ios9 and os2, but on ios8 and awos 1...it was flawless.

Nothing major, but every now and then the button used to confirm scoring and move to the next hole was non-responsive for a few secs before it accepted the push.

Do you have to have your phone within close distance to the watch in order for the app to work with it? For example if it was cart path only, could you leave the phone in the cart & walk to you ball & use the app still with correct readings?

If it's within Bluetooth range than I would suppose so. But it will be giving you distance from the cart to the green. I'm used to playing with the app on my phone. So keeping it in my pocket isn't a huge deal. I can't even tell its there...another reason I went with 6s and not the plus.

As mentioned it gives the reading from the phone - so if that's in the cart that's the distance.
The watch and phone have a communication distance of about 20m on a course, if they loose eachother they soon connect again.

Tried this out yesterday- it works pretty good.
My only bitch is that 5 times during my follow through the watch took screenshots- I could hear the shutter, and sure enough there was pics on my phone.
So my bent wrist must be pressing the crown and side button at the same time.
Wonder if this can be disabled?
Can you turn the wast have around so the crown is on the other side?

I have just tried a new app on the watch, Vimeo Golf.
Supposed to use the accelerometer etc to auto detect swings.
Nice idea but doesn't work well at the minute, of my 82 shots yesterday only 9 registered automatically and not a single putt. The battery drain was horrendous! And it is very slow to update positionally, down to 3% after my round.

I will be sticking with Golf Shot, still the best out there IMO.

I have trialled a lot of these apps, & have been totally underwhelmed.
Today I tried the latest GolfShot+, now we are getting close to a usable app.
Only a slight delay with distance, but I didn't get auto hole change. Will RTFM again before my next game :)

So what do I need to do in settings to make this useable on the course?

I had hole 19 this week in the watch and you had to manually change holes and every time you looked back at the watch you had to go back in to the app. It made for a poor experience. The distances were good. I played with my garmin s1 on my right wrist and AW on the left.

Golfshot does not automatically advance holes either. You have to either enter the score and advance to next hole on the watch or the phone. As far as settings...regardless of which app you use, make sure you go into the Watch app on the phone and change the wake screen setting to "resume last activity". I also keep my background GPS in Golfshot set to 10min.....To make sure I get the quickest yardage readings.

Yes, "resume last activity" setting is critical for usability.
Also found that yes, have to enter shots & save to advance to next hole.
Would be handy to use the crown.

Just checked out Vimogolf. Conceptually looks pretty cool. Could be great if they iron out those issues you listed. They just released an update on the 14th...wonder if they fixed any of those issues. I just downloaded it. Will give a try next time out and post more feedback.

On course now and was using both the free golf shot and hole 19.

I have turned off golf shot maybe the pay version is worth it but once I figured the advance hole on hole 19 by swiping to the right, I really like it.

I do wish it had layup distances, and maybe it does and I haven't figured it out yet. I know you can kind of do that on the phone, but I'd like to never pull the phone from the pocket.

Really liked hole 19. Is there a layup or distance to traps feature? Or no?

I assume the only free offering from golf shot is front/middle/back? I couldn't figure out anything else with is app

I Have hole 19, but haven't used it. According to the description it only gives front center and back of green.
As for Golfshot you need to pay for the pro version to get the front/center/back as well as hazards and lay ups. Golfshot will be the most full featured app...but you gotta pay for it.

Downloaded Vimogolf but haven't tried it out yet...maybe later this week. I did notice that it runs natively on the apple watch as opposed to Golfshot. I have high hopes for this app or other similar apps that will make use of the sensors. It will kind of replace the likes of Arccos and game golf.

Is there any benefit to paying for the "Pro" subscription for use on the watch?

edit. Nevermind, looks like without the subscription, you can only look at distance to centre and no scoring.

Tried Vimogolf for a couple holes and gave up....went back to Golfshot. It's a great concept...but needs to be worked on. For one...you can't edit and customize the clubs to what you might be playing. For example I don't carry a 3 and 4 iron but carry a 7 wood. I also carry a gap wedge and there's no way to add those clubs. shot detection works, but not 100% and needs some refinement. BUT...I use a stainless steel bracelet, so using a sport or leather band that's more snug could help and is what's actually suggested. The biggest issue I had was that the gps readings seemed to be off by about 15yrds. That's what really made me just stop using it and go back to Golfshot which is much more accurate.

Even their description on the website is confusing a bit lol...I have the paid app, but haven't used it in years since I started using a rangefinder and playing in some mid-ams and club tournaments...

I played a round with Golfshot plus (paid pro version) this last week. App worked perfectly. Very satisfied.
