I'm calling the announcements next year:

Introducing three revolutionary new products
  1. iPhone 6c (plastic 4" iPhone 6)
  2. iPhone 6s (4.7")
  3. iPhone 6s Plus (5.5")
Unapologetically fragmented!:D :apple:

I would say 5s as the free offering. probably 90% percent sure this will be the 2015 lineup.

5s= free
6c= plastic version of 6, $99
6s= s refresh, $199
6s+= s refresh, $299

I've been using the 6 all weekend but just could not get on with it. I just don't like the feel of it. It's too thin to pick up easily from a table with one hand. It can't be easily used with one hand. I dropped it twice, it's not as easy to grip. It is too large in my jeans pocket.

I've gone back to my 5S and I have to say when apply designed this they really got it right. Perfect size and shape. Feels solid, robust and great in the hand. It looks better IMO.

I swear if the 5 had come after the 6 people would be raving about it.

Is the 5 likely to be updated with the latest hardware?

4" screens are over. You'll never be able to buy a flagship phone of that size again. Get Over it.

I don't know if the harshness is deserved, but I agree with the principle of what you are saying. I also don't get how people can give up on a new phone over a weekend.

You probably have one more update of phones before they stop selling 4" screen devices altogether.

6S, 6C and 5S next year.

7, 6S and 6C the year after.

I am disappointed too, but I really hope Apple will not forget us next year. The 4, 5/5S design has been far more practical and original than any other phone on the market. Now with the 6...we just blend in.

They won't or otherwise they would have made them this year.

I think I might my return my 6 as well. It's way too big. Hopefully they might upgrade the 5s or make an iPhone 6c with 4"

Nope

Focus Groups & Sales will determine screen sizes

With the iPad there was room for a mini

Sometimes you want a tablet other times you just want a phone

I would buy a phone the size of a 4s that was all screen with Touch ID / Home
Button on the side.

With the advent of sapphire and Apple watch design a full screen phone may not be far behind.

You may be right about the harshness. I guess I just think in the big picture business sense. There is no reason to make small phones now as they are not phones anymore. They are smart devices.

I also agree that you need more than 2-3 days to use a phone. Once you use them for a month you'll never want a small screen anymore.

Gone back to my 5S. God it's good! Will they update it?

I just can't imagine going back to the 5S tiny screen. I have waited ages for Apple to catch up to everyone else screen size wise so I am hardly going to go back now.;)

It was not a particularly great thing for Apple to be still selling a flagship device with that small a screen at that price point in this day and age.

Nope

What do you mean nope? I already packaged it up ready to go. It's way to big for me, but not you to, so please don't shove up your opinions without even thinking why I dislike it.

Honestly if the 5S had NFC, I wouldn't have even Bothered trying to get the iPhone 6. In my area, a lot of stores have NFC, and it was a worthy enough feature to have me consider the upgrade.

I'm still trying to figure out what this slippery thing is that everyone is talking about. I have no case on my 6 plus and I havent had any issues picking it up. Never even came close to dropping it.

Oh, thanks for explaining it to me! I wonder what accounted for the difference in display sharpness then. I compared home screens and Evernote displays and a few other app displays. The 6 was by no means fuzzy. Just a little bit less crisp than my 5s and husband's 5s.

The new phones are indeed very slippery and hard to grip. I know I'll have to use a case as I'm butterfingered when I use the phone as a camera.

Some people have been complaining the apps that are not optimized for the new screen sizes are appearing fuzzy. Maybe that is what you experienced.

5S is too small and would of ruined apple if they would of continued with the path of tiny phones. iPhone 6 and 6 plus are the ideal size phones.
Not true.

Steve Jobs convinced millions that he knew better than they do and therefore there is nothing to discuss. There'll be a robust market for the tiny phone for a long time.

Most regular users don't know or upgrade to the latest OS anyway. They just use the phone.

That is not true for everybody. They should continue having a 4 inch phone or they will lose a lot of their customers. A lot of business customers will go back to blackberry.

You win some, you lose some. If they released another 4-inch phone instead of a 4.7" and 5.5", they would've lost customers who wanted a larger screen. Since they did release larger screened phone, they'll lose some that wanted a 4" screen. You can't please everyone all of the time, so keeping the 5s and 5c around is a good compromise.

I wouldn't count on another 4" device being made by Apple. The 5s will see software updates but no hardware updates.

We'll see. I don't know that anyone knows exactly what's going to happen. I would agree, however, that there are people who would be happy sticking with the 4 inch iPhone.

call it iPhone 7 Nano

iPhone 5
iPhone 6
iPad Mini
iPad Air

Small
Medium
Large
Larger

There's rumors of a larger iPad.

So, different sizes for different folks. All running iOS 8. The iPads perhaps offering some subtle differences in apps available.

So

iPhone 7 Nano
iPhone 7 Air
iPhone 7 Plus
iPad Mini
iPad Air
iPad Pro

There seems to be a lot of people missing their 5S. I may pickup a 5S in November. I hope they don't tun out, because I'm still on the fence with the 6.

I think it will be true for most. After using the 6 it seems that this is the sweet spot for screen size. Some people are just slower to adopt new things.

I am considering going back to a 5S from the 6 I got on launch day. Not only was I lied to twice by the same man from the retail store, but I didn't get what was promised to me. Kind of left a sour taste in my mouth for the whole damn thing.

Care to elaborate?

Yeah. iPhone 6 is beautiful, but just too large. Still thinking of returning it. Portability is number 1 for me. 6 is very nice, but clumsy and unnecessarily large. It is just strange for Apple to take the stance of that size for so many years, then just completely abandon it. Give people the option. An old phone is not the a proper option. I know a lot that would choose an updated phone in the 4-4.3" size over the 4.7". Sounds like lots on here would, too.

I think 4.3" would be the sweet spot. 4.7" seems large. 4" seems a little small.

IMO, Apple needs to stay away from plastic anything. There are only a few aspects that separate them from everyone else (OS, non-plastic build, and form factor). They already gave up the form factor, so if they start in with this plastic BS, then they are just like everyone else. Now we have phones that a lot of people say resemble Samsung, which also now have protruding cameras. It's a slippery slope.

The 5s is a great phone that's easy to use.
