4" screens are over. You'll never be able to buy a flagship phone of that size again. Get Over it.

Funny, I remember when people were saying that large cell phones would never come back and tiny and thin were the way to go. Bottom line? You have no idea where things will go, but thanks for the guess.;)

I feel the same OP, but I am going to give my iPhone 6 at least 2 weeks to see if I can adjust. I mentally can't go back because I like to have the latest gadget, so I really hope I can adjust.

I really do like how the 4 and 5 feel in the hand, I think it was the best design so far, and second nature when using them in my hand.

iPhone6 is slippery, I know there are cases, but I like my iPhones without cases, and never use cases.

Last night as I was driving and using GPS, I wanted to end the route and reaching my thumb over, phone slipped from my hands. :(

While I understand the need for bigger phones as there is a very large demand for it, I wish the iPhone6 was no large than 4.5in.

Agreed 4.5" is ideal. :/

I have to say I did like the shape of the 5S, the flat sides were my favorite part. But hated the screen size. If Apple could reduce the bezel size and keep the 4.7 screen size, that would be pretty perfect. But my 6 has been awesome so far, I couldn't go back to 4 inch screen.

I love my iPhone 6 and don't think I could ever go back to using my old 5S as my main phone again.. The 4.7" screen is just the right size for web browsing, texting, reading and watching Netflix on which primarily what I use on it. Battery life on my 6 after only the second charge is already 2 hours better than my 5S.

I do wish they kept the same thickness and shape as the 5. Better grip, more space for a larger battery, and no worry about the phone bending out of shape. I've never looked at my iPhone 5 and thought it needed to be thinner, even after having the latest gen iPod Touch.

Nope the 5S will stay as it is. A 5S 64gb is the best you can get.

I felt the same way about the 4S. :)

I have got my hands on both the 6 and 6 Plus, and lemme tell you, I'm so glad I am keeping my 5C. Maybe it's because of the fact that I'm just not used to using a bigger iPhone, but I realized how great the size is on the 5\5S\5C. I really love the size of the phones. I hope Apple continues to update the 4" phone as well, because it is still a loved size for a phone.

But the 6\6+ was brilliant as well, props to great phones. But, the size just isn't for me, as is true for many other users as well.

I love everything about my 5S. Performance is buttery smooth (even running iOS 8), I get all day battery life, TouchID is an absolute must have feature for me now, and the screen size and overall size of the phone itself is perfect for my needs.

Although I could live with the 4.7" screen size of the standard iPhone 6 if I didn't have any other choice I held one at my carrier store the other day and just was not feeling the design of the phone at all. Too thin, too rounded, just doesn't have the same solid feel to me that previous designs have.

Im on the 'S' model contract cycle and unless something really groundbreaking comes with the 6S I may wait and see what Apple does with the 7. I'm confident the 5S can take one more full iOS update like a champ before showing any lag.

The 5S is by far my favorite iphone Apple has ever released. I've not been impressed with the 6/6+ at all so far.

I am actually restoring back to my 5s right now. I love the screen of the 6, but it's just more awkward for me since I am primarily a 1-handed texter. With 2 hands, the 6 is better. I can probably try to continue getting used to the larger phone (again, definitely has many plusses which I like), but unless now the 5s seems too tiny, I'm going to give it a try again.

It's like buying a new car. It takes a few days to get use to it. A different phone is the same way. I bought a 6 Saturday and using it today has become second nature. What's nice is that beautiful screen. The 6 is going to be "THE" size iPhone to have for many years to come. Just my 2 cents.

I am getting used to the 6 more and more. I know I couldn't do plus though, because that one, people want because people have a need for it. It's all personal preference. The 5S is still around for people who like the size. I just wish that they put NFC into the 5S as well, I would've gotten that, IMO, to mess with Apple Pay, and have a more pocketable phone.

I have a 6 Plus and love it.

That said:
  1. For people who like to type with one hand, the 5S is the perfect size.
  2. Apple is likely to bring the 4" form factor or some variant of it in line with the other phones in a year.
  3. When you invalidate another person's choice of phone, you do exactly what we hated about the Android crowd for all these years. Different strokes for different folks.

Apple should keep a 4" model

I only upgraded to a 6 because I need the zoom feature (aging sucks), and it's great. But my 5s was much, much easier for me to use one handed, and I use my phone one-handed all the time. It's doable with the 6, but I'm more concerned about dropping it now.

But if Apple does not update the 5s, my wife will keep her 5s until it no longer works, because the 6 is just too big for her. Unfortunately, it's very hard for me to see Apple making any further investment in phones with 4" screens, which is too bad.

As popular as the 6 and 6 Plus have been, I still think that there is a significant number of folks who prefer a smaller phone.

Somewhere in a parallel universe the design of the 5s is the upgrade to the design of the 6.

Couldn't agree more!

Restoring my 5S at the moment, taking the 6 back to the Apple store tomorrow. See you in September 2015 (I hope!).

I was surprised Apple didn't do more to reduce the bezel and overall size, instead they went for thin. I was gonna say next year the bezels will shrink and so will the overall device size but the iPhone is their bread and butter, and changing the case so soon would cost a lot in development and engineering. and I guess it really can't shrink in width anyway which is the major impact on easy handling..

The public has spoken and spoken loudly. They want bigger phones. >*IF*< Apple continues to make 4" phones, it'll be no different than this year. A generation or 2 behind.

Or is it more like manufacturers are offering pretty much no choice? Aside from the Sony Z Compacts, pretty much every smaller Android phone is low to mid range specs from several years ago. There are more options on the Windows Phone side but those have never been high end anyway and have pretty massive bezels to boot.

While a screen size above 4" is fine, the iPhone6 is very close to the acceptable maximum for one handed use. I have a Galaxy S4 and would not get anything bigger, even that one is on the verge of awkward at times.

I really have no idea what phone manufacturers are thinking, there's a huge void in the under 5" phone market. The iPhone 5S and afore-mentioned Sony models are pretty much the only contenders.

All these old people complaining about the 6 being too big is funny.:p

This kid is going around the forum calling everyone old who thinks the new iPhone is too big. Hilarious to think this immature kid thinks no one else in the world could have a different opinion of something than his, unless they are old.

bestskinsever.com those skins are grippy. Used them for 5 yrs on the back of my phones. cheap too.

Actually a really good point ... any Android flagship phone are bigger... the 'mini' (4"-4.5") versions of the HTC/Samsung/Sony phones are all using at least their previous generations components, sometimes more or are at least down-clocked

So the drive to larger screens has been of no choice for Android users ... they just got bigger and bigger with little choice for high-end small android phones (ironic Android limiting choice this way)

For me i think the 6s and 6s+ need to be 4.5 and 5.2 respectively keeping same screen resolutions but apple also need to reduce the top and bottom bezel size ... its making the phones too long
