That’s all true, but here is one of the reasons that keeps me going back to apple. If there is a problem with my phone or MacBook Pro etc, I can walk into an apple store anywhere in the United States and get what ever issues I have resolved and that’s a big deal for me. That alone out weights what android have to offer me.
Meh. I have bestbuy protection on my phone and if it breaks I just get a new one. Anything else phone wise I never had an issue on ios or Android. I do think it's a plus for ios or Apple devices which is why I am keeping my iPad and MacBook pro though.

They can afford to have their sales tank this year to wake up and realize a four year old design isn’t going to cut it.

You're incorrect. Apple cannot afford to have their sales decline dramatically due to a four your design. Because the backlash will be severe from shareholders and stock prices would reflect that. It's not the dollar amount that you have to factor, it's the long term numbers that are produced from this new iPhone 8 that are either in abundance or stagnant. Quarterly earning reports will show this, and Tim Cook will eventually have to answer for it. So in theory, Apple can't afford to have a decline with the iPhone dropping in sales.

They’re the richest company ever.

Yes, it wouldn’t be good for the stock, but they CAN afford (since they’re the richest company ever) to have it tank as a wake up call to start innovating again.

I want Tim Cook (and everyone else on the executive team) to sweat it out for a year with terrible iPhone sales so they truly do something impressive next year.

i had the s8+ for only 1 week, i can`t bear with the stupid face-id, iris scanner and backside fingerprint. It just didn`t work. 9 out of 10 times i failed to unlock the screen. Next is the battery, i can barely run through a day with S8+, with my iphone 8 plus, i can hold it up for 2 days.

I read the battery part and instantly knew you are either lying or there is a major issue with your phone, the battery life on the S8 plus destroys the iP8 by a massive margin too.

If You choose to reply to this, Then please explain what you think Apple needs to do to innovate their future iPhone lineup?

Rather than re-arrangement of deck-chairs on the titanic stuff like animated emojis, round screen corners and the notch, focus on pushing AR forward (get a working set of glasses out for it), make it officially water-proof, etc.

Reduce costs, not pack garbage in that just increase cost, make production far more difficult and offer no real world benefit (like the X’s display for example).

I don’t get paid by apple to come up with innovative iphone features, but i do know that the only thing i care about, at all from the iphone keynote this year is that wireless charging is coming - and apple is years late with that. Other than that, just the expected CPU and GPU performance bumps, but that’s just technological progress.

Did you have a a point with that link? I'm unsure if you just posted it out of context for people to reach a wrong conclusion or you provided it to bolster my point and assumed people would read the the article that goes with that fun chart and explains what data Apple handed over -- and had a legal obligation to do so? Did you get down to what is essentially the heart of that article when it turns:

This time it’s different
Apple’s argument in the case of the San Bernardino iPhone is that this time, it’s different. Tim Cook says the FBI’s request for a modified version of iOS amounts to a request for a “backdoor” that will create a “master key” that could be used to open all iPhones.

My link proves you wrong. Eod

It proves me wrong in my 3 points? No. It only soothes your soul that iOS isn't without holes -- when I never stated Apple was "hole" free or 100% safe. But Android vs iOS, hey, all Swiss Cheese may look alike, it doesn't all taste alike. My point is that Apple is a better custodian of user data than Google, iOS App Store apps are safer by it's very nature than Google Play apps. Google is an advertising/marketing company. User data is its life blood. Apple sells hardware and services and "security" is a valuable sales point these days. Apple has an incentive to keep it more secure.

Just provided a link. Wasn't taking sides. I actually posted the wrong part of the link, sorry.

This was the main article. Should have posted this:

Dude Mac Tyson just proved you wrong but I predict you will just respond to me with a dismissive post and not deal with his argument let alone concede you may be wrong.
Lol. Tysons link doesn't work for me. I just get a 404 error. One link from a basic tech site against a legit information with stats. Ok. So many Apple fans do upset. The data is out there. Apple isn't as secure as it use to be.

The links work for me - and this isn't an answer to his detailed argument - nothing to do with being a "fan" or "hater."

Anyway I'm done.

I don’t get paid to do that.

What I do know is the X should have been the standard phone this year at it’s “normal” price but Apple released the 8 because they are money hungry. Part 1 of their plan hasn’t really worked out because I’d bet the 8 has been their worst launch in years.

Many people on this forum say it’s because the X, but other than people on this forum, I don’t hear many people talking about ordering the X.

I could be wrong, but charging a premium price on something that should have fell into last years pricing structure is one reason.

Also, even if it was in last years pricing structure, I can’t believe they’re leaving the notch only so other people can tell that it’s the new iPhone X. There are no benefits of the notch and it should really be hidden by a software update to black out the top corners so it doesn’t stick out. That may happen, but for now it isn’t because Apple is more concerned with their branding than user experience.

I’ve owned iPhones for the last ten years, Android may suck, but I’m actually willing to give it a try because I will not reward Apple for their greed.

I think the final piece was their garbage storage price gauging increases alongside AppleCare increases...I was dead set on ordering two new phones but for the storage capacity I’m looking at, it was $2,300 before taxes and AC+.

(PS - There was no reason to raise the price of the iPad Pro by $50 during the keynote, pure greed at its finest)

I'm not loyal but I've given it a go. I was an Android Fangirl. The blue 5c was the best and most beautiful iPhone I've had. It was also my first one.

Since then I've had:

5s- Dead pixels right out of box from Apple store. Second one fine.

6- Bent in my purse while in an Otter Box.

6s- First one under battery recall.

SE- Two logic board failures at Apple store diagnostics. Frustrating.

7 Plus- Horrible reception and data speeds.

I'm so tired of playing the Apple lottery. Like am I going to get a yellow or blue screen? Is my battery life going to be good or bad? Am I going to get decent LTE speeds and call quality consistency?

Samsung VS LG on displays.
Samsung VS TSMC on battery life.
Intel VS Qualcomm on data, calls, etc.

They've created an inferior VS superior component war between their models. That had never been an issue for me prior to buying iPhones.

Heck, my Note 3 still works as good as it did the day I bought it.

I just wish manufacturers would leave the bootloader unlocked like they used to. It was super easy to get a root and ROM to fix any issues your device had. I miss that.

Wow, you've had some terrible luck. I never experienced any of the issues you and many others have had. One time there was a speck of dust in my camera lens and Apple replaced it that day.

LOL. You go from Android is more secure to Apple is not as secure as it used to be.

I also used the same source of info that the article you linked to that says Android has less vulnerabilities.

The links work on my iPhone. lol

I bought my first ever iPhone last month, a 7+, after having 2 android phones over the past 4 years (HTC Sensation and a Note 3). A lot of things I could compare between the two experiences aren't really fair as I'd be comparing a 3-4 year old device with one of the best currently available. The 7 is obviously incredibly snappy and has an amazing camera.

BUT man, there are still a bunch of things that I miss about Android. To me the two biggest are these:

WHY IS THERE NO DEDICATED BACK HARDWARE BUTTON. Swiping to go back or hitting that stupid button in the top left is so unbelievably stupid. Just stupid stupid stupid.
WHY CAN'T I SET MY HEADPHONE VOLUME TO A CERTAIN LEVEL EVERY TIME THEY'RE PLUGGED IN?? I listen to music in my car, where I have to turn my iPhone's volume to 90%+, as well as on headphones where anything over 60% can be painful. I don't want my phone to remember the volume level for the last time headphones were plugged in as that literally doesn't matter to me at all. I want my headphones to revert to 50% volume each and every single time I plug them in.

i thik if you bring back Mr. Jobs theory about a "one-hands phone" and Skeuomorphism UI. mobile phone as the fundamental basis will regain its space in the market and retain a recognizable icon of technology called the iPhone

I don't have much to say in this letter, not even sure if this is the right place to post. I've bought almost every model of iPhone from the iPhone 3 in 2008, and loved mostly every experience of it.. until now. It seems everything's going to hell with Apple. I'll be searching for a downgrade of a phone, but I will no longer support this company, even if it means a worse phone experience.

I am still in shock from the release of the iPhone 8, and X. I feel like someone I was in a trustworthy relationship over a long period of time stabbed me in the back and walked away. I guess It's my fault for letting myself get attached to a company.

iPhone X isn't perfect. It is flawed, and Apple, if you truly think it's appropriate to ask your community to "get used to" or adjust to the akward black bevel on your "borderless screen" that.. by the way blocks videos and makes the experience inconvenient for an outstanding price you're wrong.

and about the iPhone 8.. well it's nothing special compared to the iPhone 6s. They're basically the same, with some small upgrades. Not worth the price.

What are your guys opinions about apples recent decisions? Am I the only one?
Apple is doing the right thing and better than ever.
i will never understand people who want something "special" and upgrade every year to the latest.....
iPhone X is very, very "special" btw
phones are dead anyway
thats my opinion.

You say push AR forward. But that’s exactly what iOS 11 with ARKit does combined with the hardware in the iPhone 8/8+/10.

I doubt full on water proof will happen in a premium smartphone from any manufacture soon. Maybe in a couple years. However I DO wish Apple would use the same technology used in the Apple Watch s2/s3 speakers that puffs out any water in the speaker in their iPhones. Though I suppose doing so would lead people to believe they could swim with their iPhone and demand free replacements when they ruined their iPhone. (But it would still be pretty cool to have that same tech in the phone)

You want more new, never seen before innovation yet at no extra cost? Smartphones in general have been pretty stagnant for a little while now because it’s a mature product. Anything these days that can be added that’s any sort of “wow factor” takes time to develope and a lot of money. A11 Bionic alone was in development since the release of A8. Who knows how long FaceID has been in development for. 3D Touch also took 3-5 years of development. Who knows what is in the pipeline right now that has been a year or two in development or even just begun development. But back on point to cost. This isn’t exactly just an Apple being greedy thing. The Note 8 released at just under $1000. The new Pixel XL2 (or whatever it’s going to be called) is reported to also be just under $1000. This is the new norm for bleeding edge tech and why things like iPhone 8 or the new smaller pixel 2 exists (to offer a lower “normal” price points with updated hardware)

To say the display is no benefit is silly. OLED is better than LCD in many ways. That’s a real tangible benefit the user will see.

I don’t want to hear about the “notch”.

A: that houses the type of innovation people claim Apple lacks. Not a totally brand new method of authentication, but rather a new method of authentication done right, in a way no one else has been able to achieve yet (IE theoretically more secure than TouchID, and reliable enough to ditch the previous method of authentication altogether.)

B: In other manufacturers attempts at removing bezels, they forgot the still large forehead and chins. As they are still present.

Um well you’re gonna hear about the notch because it’s an awful design decision. Technology wise it’s awesome!
