The problem is....Android sucks. I see other phones I like, but I simply can not deal with Android.
Then you truly are missing out. Because Android doesn't suck. I'm a long time user of iPhones as well since the 3G, and can say my Note 8 is the best phone I have ever owned. Android is very good now (dare I say better than iOS). Don't mouth it if you haven't experienced it in a while.

In the years that I’ve been on this board, I have been screaming about this from rooftops: no matter where you look, iOS devices are everywhere where security is concerned, airlines issue iPads to their pilots, I’m in high security sensitive transportation, we have company issued IPads, not galaxy tabs. IOS is more secure and convenient. Exception to this is maybe galaxy devices with Knox.

iOS is NOT more secure. It actually has more vulnerabilities!

https://www.darkreading.com/mobile/enterprise-android-vs-ios-which-is-more-secure/a/d-id/1328068?

As of January 2017, iOS has had a total of 984 vulnerabilities whereas Android has had a total of 746.

That is the problem. Two weeks ago I got the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. It is WAY COOLER than the iPhone. It was an awesome phone, but too many buggy issues. Disabled notifications on apps but the badge icon would still show, couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get music from iTunes on to it. The closes I got was a drop and drag app, but the problem was it game me the option to replace or skip tracks it viewed as duplicate. In classical music, you may have hundreds of tracks called "prelude" and it would only let me move one. Deal breaker, went to the iPhone 8 after 2 days.

Sounds like you didn't learn how to use it right.

I don't have much to say in this letter, not even sure if this is the right place to post. I've bought almost every model of iPhone from the iPhone 3 in 2008, and loved mostly every experience of it.. until now. It seems everything's going to hell with Apple. I'll be searching for a downgrade of a phone, but I will no longer support this company, even if it means a worse phone experience.

I am still in shock from the release of the iPhone 8, and X. I feel like someone I was in a trustworthy relationship over a long period of time stabbed me in the back and walked away. I guess It's my fault for letting myself get attached to a company.

iPhone X isn't perfect. It is flawed, and Apple, if you truly think it's appropriate to ask your community to "get used to" or adjust to the akward black bevel on your "borderless screen" that.. by the way blocks videos and makes the experience inconvenient for an outstanding price you're wrong.

and about the iPhone 8.. well it's nothing special compared to the iPhone 6s. They're basically the same, with some small upgrades. Not worth the price.

What are your guys opinions about apples recent decisions? Am I the only one?

They make sense. A lot of the tech from the iPhone X is inside the iPhone 8. Oh, and by default videos play 16:9 so the notch isn't in the way.

I see you're ditching the "flawed" iPhone X in favour of... what? The Galaxy S8 which will unlock when you show it a photo of the user?
[doublepost=1506880798][/doublepost]
Companies should never get anyone’s loyalty, all you are to them is money. Apple continues to get my money because I like their products and the competitors suck (android is trash, my opinion). If that ever changes, I’ll switch.

Agreed. Supposedly the best Android phones are either a Pixel or a Samsung Galaxy. The Pixel clearly isn't as superior as iPhone 8 or X. and the Samsung Galaxy isn't pure Android. So the best Android phone isn't even truly Android? Great stuff!

Dunno, but I think the X is cool. It maybe a POS, but it's cool.

It's new, expensive, crazy, in short: good ol Apple 🙂

See, that's why whenever I get new music, it's uploaded automatically to the Google Play cloud. That way, when I want it on my phone, all I have to do is go to the Play Music app and pin it to my device.

Ah, but you don't have to use face unlock at all with an S8 because it at least still has the fingerprint reader.

The Pixel clearly isn't as superior as iPhone 8 or X.

"superior" is in the eye of the beholder. It really depends on what you're looking for in a phone.

iSyncr for Android syncs all of your music and playlists from itunes. Works wireless or plugged in. I've used it for years.

I'm not a Cook fan and believe he is slowly diminishing Apple. Apple is trading innovation for subscription revenue. 8 and X don't really excite me -- mostly because of the price. iOS and OS X are not as intuitive as they once were. But it's premature to abandon Apple yet. iOS/Apple is still the best integrated mobile/desk OS combination. OS X is still worlds better than Win IMHO. iOS is more secure than Android. So I continue to give TC a long leash. But yeah, my patience is wearing thin -- not that I have anywhere else to go. They all kinda suck in their own way right now.

I would not exactly say that I am in shock, but I admit that this is the first autumn in many years (9?) that I will probably be sitting back and not upgrading for another year.

7 Plus 128 GB, and I seem to be fine with that for another year.

Or maybe I'll spend the Apple budget on something other than an iPhone.

to be honest (as a longtime apple supporter, we have a Mac SE at home) the 8/8+ and X both won't be getting my upgrade money. I've upgraded on every "S" cycle so this year does feel like a truly non-"S" cycle - whereas the 7 was definitely a 6SS.

So with that being said, it's not really my cycle anyways, but I still have some gripes with the new phones. the 8/8+ being glass backed doesn't appeal to me - it didn't appeal to me during the 4/4S cycle either. The best phone design for me was the 5/5S and the 7 was the epitome of that design.

the X with the notch that is "embraced" and blocked out with on-screen bars seems like a mess right now. I think with iterative software updates, Apple is going to figure out how best to utilize this bar - that's what they do best - is iterate on a good foundational idea. I think the portrait mode is the same thing - it was buggy at the start (fences/hair etc) but now, a year on, portrait mode is something to pick up and use without thinking. The same holds true for "studio" lighting and the "notch".

I'm definitely an "S" cycle buyer, but with these glass backs, I'm not sure if I'll be an iphone buyer again for a while. We'll see how far my beautiful jet black 7 takes me. 🙂

I have an iphone 6s that I will keep using and is now paired with my apple watch 3. I got a note 8 for my new phone this year (I have to have two phones for my use) and I love it. What I really want is apple's os on the note 8 -but I have used android before and I don't mind it now. It does everything I use it for, the display is gorgeous, it is fast and I really love and use the spen a lot. Neither the 8 nor the upcoming x held any interest for me from the apple side.

I have to agree with some of the OPs thoughts. I’ve been buying Apple products since 1998! Starting with one of the first iMacs, the first iPod (and many after that), the very first iPhone (and many after that) etc... But I'm platform agnostic. I have two new iPhones, a brand new iPad Pro, an iPad Air 2, a brand new Apple TV, a new Apple Watch, brand new AirPods as well as a brand new Huawei P10 and 3 other Android phones. I simply love tech and buy from any company I damn well please-- Apple just happens to be one.

As you can see from the list above, I went "all in" with Apple and bought their entire lineup and was very much looking forward to upgrading to the latest iPhone X... And then the keynote happened and I was like “WTF?? F&%#@ this! I’m not buying that rubbish!”. I’m just so turned off and pissed. SO. MUCH. NOPE.

I think I’ll just ride out the Apple products I have until they die or I get completely bored, whichever comes first, and replace them with Android devices. I’m just really disappointed with Apple. Nearly 20 years of patronage down the tubes...

I've had every iPhone and before that a few iPods and now after 15 years I'm done.

I own a macbook pro 2015, iPad pro, apple TV, iPhone 7 and apple watch, after the 6S I knew this day would come soon because the design was getting lazy.

I'll be selling the 7 and watch, I'll use the other 2 until they die or I see something I like more but no more apple for me.

They've just jumped the shark now, the crap iOS 11, notch, X UI choices, 8 and prices are hilariously ridiculous and I can't support that in any way with my money.

People need to not buy this shameful stuff and make them try again to be the great, the X is nothing more than a rush job with half baked OS because the 7 was not greatly received design wise.

The X really shouldn't have arrived until 2018 but they pushed it out and stuck a high price on a poor phone.

...on the back. That's not a compromise in your view? Especially as they have a bottom bezel.
Not really, and it's much better than not being there at all. The bottom bezel is far too small to place a fingerprint reader there.

Of course, the placement is bad. It'd be better if they did it like other manufacturers and placed it in the center. The center of the back is a very comfortable spot and is a natural place for a finger to rest while holding the phone.

I'm honestly feeling kind of the same. People will keep buying Apple products anyway as the products are considered fashionable. I think it'll be a long time before Apple is humbled in the market again.

What I always funny is how when people decide to leave everyone who sticks with apple become "sheep" or "trendy/fashionable" buyers. I'm all for people leaving when they feel that they are not getting the product they want for a reasonable price, but maybe just maybe those of us who stay have tried other things and still find apple to be the best.

I recently had a surface pro 4 and Galaxy S8 Plus and no matter how much time I spent trying to get them to work the way I want I still just prefer the apple system. What some people see as shortcomings or poor choices I see as big improvements and things I am excited about.

Enjoy whatever you decide to move on to, but please don't mock the people who stay simply because you aren't happy anymore.

What I find funny is everytime someone here decides to leave the fold of iOS and gets Android the Apple fans try to push them out then and tell them why you even here...and so forth. LOL. Trust me when I say there are more Android haters here than Apple ones. Especially those who refuse to see the facts.

Ok I’ll concede, iOS may not be more secure but the fact remains, ipads and iOS devices are everywhere while android devices aren’t. Cant really argue with that now can you?

I would never say otherwise, those people need to chill too. I actually really like android this time around and totally understand why some people choose to switch, but for me it is worse than iOS.
