What i am perplexed about, i just found this out, is that in the new control center you cant turn off wifi or Bluetooth, instead the toggles just disconnect. This is possibly the dumbest move on apple part

How does Android Suck? I mean in an objective way? For about 99% of the population an Android device will do the same thing as an iPhone.

Facebook
Instagram
Snapchat
Twitter
Email
Web browsing
Photos
Videos
Video playback from Netflix or etc
Listen to music
Games
Etc

The only difference is how to get to it on the OS. Don't like Android execution fine but it doesn't suck for it the same way how ios does it doesn't suck.
That’s all true, but here is one of the reasons that keeps me going back to apple. If there is a problem with my phone or MacBook Pro etc, I can walk into an apple store anywhere in the United States and get what ever issues I have resolved and that’s a big deal for me. That alone out weights what android have to offer me.

Companies should never get anyone’s loyalty, all you are to them is money. Apple continues to get my money because I like their products and the competitors suck (android is trash, my opinion). If that ever changes, I’ll switch.

same for me. only addition I would make is that I'm a bit locked into Apples ecosystem. So even if Android was better (mostly safer regarding data security) i would think twice about switching due to the convenience of apples ecosystem.

That's true but I think Samsung have found the perfect balance between extra features and keeping the OS lean. I honestly prefer it over stock Android now and I was a huge Nexus/Pixel fan.
I might be able to get onboard with Samsung if they stopped filling up their OS with apps that do nothing but duplicate apps that are already part of Google's Android. I just don't have any want or need for a Samsung software ecosystem.

Android is safer? I know of many IT shops in government or high security clearance required agencies that are choosing or have chosen iOS over android.

Android and its larger share of the market is an inherent reason why it will not be safer.

If samsung or android in general can implement a hybrid method (platform mixing osx/and droid) and allow users to use imessage, notes, or anything sync easily, then android would be a game changer.

See, that's why I use Google services on my iPhone, like Google Keep for notes. Since the Google services work on the web, on Android, and on iOS, and they obviously sync across platforms, I don't have to think twice about what info I put where.

I’m really hoping that’s some sort of bug. I agree that it’s stupid.

It's not a bug; it's entirely intentional. They did it so that Continuity would still work (and the Watch and the Pencil).

Personally, I think it's stupid and annoying and extremely misleading.

For now, there are apps to sync with droid and osx like pushbullet(imessage like). Hopefully their os could integrate with notes and imessages naturally.

Agreed, that convenience has been the been the biggest selling point for me since 2007. Apples customer service is second to none

In the years that I’ve been on this board, I have been screaming about this from rooftops: no matter where you look, iOS devices are everywhere where security is concerned, airlines issue iPads to their pilots, I’m in high security sensitive transportation, we have company issued IPads, not galaxy tabs. IOS is more secure and convenient. Exception to this is maybe galaxy devices with Knox.

I love my 8+ but I agree the design is a smidge dated...but oh well! As for the X, I’ll probably get it to be able to actually say if I like it or not.

Yes some of the duplicate apps are not needed however you don't have to use them. There are also Samsung apps that trounce the built in google ones like the Samsung Browser for instance.

Interesting. Why do you prefer the 8 over the S8? Id be interested hear the differences in OS experiences. To be honest I am seriously considering the Note 8.

I don't find Android to be as polished as iOS. Everything from typing to browsing seems to be more fluid with iOS. Some of the default settings with notifications in Android are brutally annoying and you need to turn them off.

To be honest the S8 vs 8 reminds me of comparing a higher speced Windows laptop to a lower speced MacBook. There is something about the Windows laptop that is off. The entire system isn't put together as well despite some tech advantages.

Sounds like for you it has more to do with the nuances of each OS. I have used Android in the past, but it was the slow hardware that brought me back to Apple. The Android OS seemed to work pretty well for me.

I am not a big fan of bloatware, which Samsung seems to force upon the user, but I found both to be fairly usable. I'd like someone to give me specifics as to why iOS is preferable. Nuances could mean anything. Many times when I have asked users to given examples of why one OS is preferable to the other, I usually get nit picky complaints. No real reasons, just minor stuff really. I wonder if there is a side by side comparison out there. You know like calendar vs calendar, mail vs mail, browser vs browser, etc.

and about the iPhone 8.. well it's nothing special compared to the iPhone 6s. They're basically the same, with some small upgrades. Not worth the price.

Its uh... the fastest mobile phone you can buy (by a LONG shot), still runs iOS and has the same basic design as the iPhone 7.

What's wrong with that? "small upgrade"? I'm not quite sure you understand just how much more powerful it is than an iPhone 7, let alone an iPhone 6. Its as fast or faster than the current iPad Pro if i'm not mistaken. Let that sink in for a sec... the iPad Pro beats the 12 and 13" Macbooks in a variety of tasks...

What are your guys opinions about apples recent decisions? Am I the only one?

They've made some errors lately, the iPhone X, the butterfly keyboard, the Macbook pricing and forced touchbar adoption.

But in terms of their core technology and things like ARkit, i think they're doing OK. In terms of standing up for user rights and privacy, they're doing WAY better than anyone else.

Certainly leaps and bounds ahead of what Microsoft and Google are doing in that respect.

The only alternative i'd consider for my personal machines would be Linux, and that's still a UI/UX disaster (and i say this as someone who has used it professionally since 1995). And to do that I'd need to give up a heap of Apple services, applications and content, which i do use and like.

Right. I know I don't have to use them. But if I'm not using them, then I don't want them to ever even be there. I don't want their changes coded into the OS.

Well, remember that Apple produces both the hardware and the software for the iPhone, so the iPhone is a very well optimized system. Samsung produces the S8's hardware, but they acquire Android from Google and make their own changes and additions to it, so it's not quite as slick of a system and definitely not as polished.

If you want to make a good comparison between the operating systems, you should really be making a comparison between the Pixel and the iPhone. That's the closest you'll get, despite the fact that Google is making their own changes to stock Android specifically for the Pixel phones.

That’s the thing, small nit picking reasons. Nothing too major.
Just that with what Apple is doing with the new phones and a setting or two that if wanted along with some more robust upgrades have me lookin at the s8+.
I’m still undecided though and I need to think on it.

Yep. I use to switch back and forth between both. I've actually kept my 6S+ for almost a year now. I don't miss Android.

Sometimes in order appreciate iOS and the iPhone, one has a step away from it and use another competitor device to understand the differences between both platforms . And then they make a decision if they stay with android or come back to Apple. I find most come back to the iPhone.
