Which will be available in a device when? How you can try to negate this as a great feature is mind boggling to me. Would you not want your current devices to charge up in 15 min for 6 more hours of usage?

And how long did Apple use the "2X" feature to compensate?

this is what happens when you write a comment and not read any of the other posts leading up to it.

AMOLED HD means nexus 6 has a pentile sub pixels screen? Why would I spend 650 on a pentile screen phone? :(

The note 4 has a similar arrangement i believe and its rated as the best screen available. Amoled screens have great colours too. You're way of thinking you should also complain about the iPhone camera only being 8mps #facepalm

The same way your iPhone improves yours

You miss his point.

Android pushes specs. Apple pushes experience.

The best example of this was the original iPod vs MP3 players..

MP3 players: the device has 256 Mb of space.
iPOD: 1000 songs in your pocket.

Today:
Google: quadcore snapdragon.
Apple: fastest and most fluid iPhone ever.

Ask your mother or another layperson what resonates most to them.

I watched the iPhone keynote and that whole mess was nothing but specs and hardware talk.

They had an orgasim talking about the camera specs alone lol

My mother would go for "the Google phone", as she calls it. Why? Quad Core just sounds fast.

Make an phone even bigger than the iPhone 6 Plus: CHECK

Name it with a 6: CHECK

64-bit "useless" processor: CHECK

Black, white and GOLD: CHECK

iPad Air sized tablet: CHECK

Apple TV looking device with a simple Apple TV style remote: CHECK

I imagine the screen size for the 6 was planned well before the iPhone 6.
The Nexus 6 is named the Nexus 6 because the last one was the Nexus 5

oh never mind... what's the point lol

These companies copy just about everything apple does when it comes to promo videos, website design, keynote presentations etc. Just look at the presentation video for the chromebook pixel. It looks like a parody video of an apple introduction.

It's funny you responded to macduke's quote in the affirmative. That quote is typical of what we see in this forum. Similarity between an Apple device and a competitors device gets completely discounted using minutiae to obfuscate design inspirations (antennae bands on HTC phone). Yet they will pick one detail from an Apple device (click wheel on a remote) and claim total plagiarism while totally ignoring the obvious differences (round puck, remote buttons, and gaming controller).

Apple is not the genesis of all good ideas. They all borrow from each other, to the betterment of consumers. We get the best ideas from everyone integrated into the products we like. There's a meme about Apple: They may not have been the first to do something, but when they finally do it, they do it right (or something to that effect). If that is true, what does that say about copying?

Or, with any luck, they'll continue with a 5" Nexus 5 and a roughly 6" Nexus 6 for a while. That would be awesome.

Indeed. However, it should be noted that Apple doesn't push specs because quite often they don't measure up to the most recent devices. Note I am not saying that is good or bad because it's about experience. But you're not going to advertise "older" specs as a differentiation.

There is still a difference though. Apple connects this directly to the improvement of the experience.

With other manufacturers they often discuss lists of specs without actually showing directly how that translates into a better experience with actual examples.

Granted Apple moves more and more into spec territory due to the increased push of other manufacturers and the demand by consumers.

His reference to Apple TV is funny to me too. The almost abandoned red-headed step child of the Apple product family.

Long overdue for a complete UI change and an app store. I love my Apple TV, don't get me wrong, but right now, unless I'm renting a movie (I still have a lot of iTunes credit) - I never use it. My go to devices are roku and chromecast.

Look Apple, can you see.

Stereo Speakers that face the user!

I know it's hard for you to understand Apple that people's ears are actually in the same orientation their eyes are.

Perhaps one day you may realize this and not stick two speakers right next to each other on just one edge of the device firing the sound out sideways, away from the user ! :p
Why should they when 90% of the users are using headphones

This is just me guessing but could Google have moved the Nexus 6 (by Motorola) to the phablet category to have a handset in that space while giving Motorola a little more room to compete at the ~5" level with the Moto X? The N6 is pretty much a Moto X on steroids. Same as the iP6/iP+ and the S5/Note 4.

Ah, that makes sense. I guess mine was just wishful thinking.

I seriously don't understand why EVERY tablet does not come with front-facing speakers. Extra points to the tablets that do.

It's so ridiculous to have to cup my hand under my (fill in the blank) tablet to get the sound coming toward me instead of the floor or table or other people.

Im with you on that.

Where is that study?
Come on, I bet most people lay in bed or sit on the couch with the TV on while they surf on their iPad with no headphones on.

That's a lot of ons.

The good thing is I'm pretty sure the N5 will continue to get updates for a while. The Moto X runs fairly stock Android with a dash of Motorola tossed in and will get updated just as quickly. I think both are good options.

p.s. SPro 3? I am a little jealous. If we don't get an update mac mini, the wife says I can have one.

It comes on the mail tomorrow.

Calling in for 'personal business' tomorrow to stay home and sign for it.

Keynotes are for developers and press. They have to tell the people making software what specs the device has. I believe its in the actual advertising to the common person that the specs aren't front and center
