I agree - waiting as wellAwfully quiet about the bigger iMac. The M1 iMac looks nice, but can’t replace my 27” iMac with that.
Do you have the screen on all day or something? I’ve had the Series 3, 4 and 6. They’ve all had a minimum of 2 days battery life. In fact, for the 3 and 4, I always got 3 days.
Or because of production slowdown, general availability starts at December. That’s my guess. Not seeing Apple wanting to distribute mere millions of machines around the world just so they can arrive at a handful of customers hands faster.but this headline implies that November will be the start of availability. Unless I missed something?
So, exact opposite, means it won’t be too much faster, but has all the extra benefit? I’d prefer a machine with better utility than just having raw power and no way to properly use it, but more power is always good to have. No, the exact opposite
What? Do you think Apple Watch battery is not small enough?I wonder when the watch will get 5G. This year? Next year?
Look at how Google scans for child porn. It's not that hard. What?
Where can I find comparable functionality at a competitor? Which Linux has comparable functionality?
About a month ago I ended up upgrading to an iPhone 12 Pro from an iPhone X, mostly because of an impromptu “this can’t wait then” situation.Time to upgrade my iPhone X. I’m superstitious so not keen on “13” but looking forward to a refresh.
Not a lot has changed since the X other than the camera(s) has it?
Speed wise my X is still fast.
I love FaceID so don’t care about any under the screen TouchID (As I live in NZ I have never worn a mask).
My 5K iMac was getting pretty long in the tooth, so I bought this M1 24" iMac as a replacement. It felt a little cramped when I first got it, but I have to say, I've adusted pretty well to the smaller screen. I still may get whatever "pro" iMac when it comes out, but this is proving to be an excellent machine.Awfully quiet about the bigger iMac. The M1 iMac looks nice, but can’t replace my 27” iMac with that.
I should have added that I'm happy with my iPhone X and I don't really need to change it. The lightning port is becoming temperamental though and, as I write Apps for a living, I need to plug it into my Mac for XCode work.About a month ago I ended up upgrading to an iPhone 12 Pro from an iPhone X, mostly because of an impromptu “this can’t wait then” situation.
For how I use it, besides the QoL enhancement of a magnetic MagSafe charger stand (it wirelessly charges phone, watch and AirPods with the phone held at an angle), it’s a complete misuse of tech budget in my opinion… sure LiDAR, sure “Pro Cameras”, etc. I use rarely any of that, the iPhone X was plenty good and performant for everyday things.
Games I was prototyping which ran at like 25fps on the X run butter smooth on the 12… but they would get at some point to run at 60fps anyways on an X, and 8,7, SEs, etc with a proper optimization pass.
I think you might be on the same boat.

There are no recent news regarding AppleTVs are there?
When trying to have audio output to two headphone sets it came to my attention that an AppleTV HD happens to be too old for that… any ideas to work around that? Or would it be such a mistake to get one of the most recent Apple TVs launched when the M1 iMacs happened (but that are barely an actual upgrade in practice)?
Without having to set up huge physical place, logistics, invitations, etc, it’s easier to pre-record multiple video “keynotes”, and thus keeping the hype longer throughout 4th quarter. Apple will be constantly in the news, leaving competitors harder to get headlines.Seems like they could fit all this into just two events this year, but who knows. Maybe there’s more they’ll announce than what’s rumored.
In a previous newsletter, about a week or two ago, I think he mentioned the bigger Apple Silicon iMac is set to arrive next year.Awfully quiet about the bigger iMac. The M1 iMac looks nice, but can’t replace my 27” iMac with that.
Yeah, news to me also.I think this is the first time that Gurman admitted that the Apple Watch Series 7 will have a new design.
There is also the upcoming Mac ProTotally sucks for folks to have to wait this long for the pro machines.
I guess no more Intel---only one model was released after the M1 (iMac), despite the fact Tim used plural when discussing the Intel Macs during the M1 announcement.
If it wasn't for the pandemic, I'm sure that these MBPs would've been released in time for BTS...and the prosumer iMacs would've come out in Oct/Nov...Wish the MacBook Pro were ready for the start of the back to school season. I desperately need a new computer!
Shouldn't be a surprise. Jobs said the same thing about PPC Macs during the Intel transition announcement, claiming that Apple still had some PPC products on the pipeline. Reality said otherwise.Totally sucks for folks to have to wait this long for the pro machines.

I’d normally agree but feel apple might want to expose iPhone customers to the power of the M1X, this is a potentially large market for the MacBooks to grow into. So having a shared event for iPhone, Apple Watch and M1X makes sense.Without having to set up huge physical place, logistics, invitations, etc, it’s easier to pre-record multiple video “keynotes”, and thus keeping the hype longer throughout 4th quarter.
