I still don’t want one, but does anyone else think this would have looked far more futuristic with a curved aluminium face plate?

I’m not buying that glass cracked on its own. They have clearly damaged it with some force applied to the side of the device. any screen on tech cracks in a hairline manner if there’s force applied to the weakest part of the glass - the side
Force is applied on both sides of the device when you tighten up the strap, so if that’s what is causing it, it’s just bad design.
 
Four years from now this tech is going to be amazing. Wish I had the money to experience it now, but 3.5k is worth more than my car, and unlike a Mac the Vision Pro doesn't actually do anything to help you earn money, not yet anyway.
I bet these will be in a mall near you this Christmas at a booth. 😂
 
I noticed a very small indent on the bridge of the nose of the vision pro. It is very tiny,something like a fingernail size, I was concerned but assumed it was just a production technique. It is right in line will the photos from above. Now what?

I said the front is plastic. While Apple is claiming it's a glass, clearly it's not.
It has a thin plastic sheet covering the glass. I still don't understand why they did that. Perhaps they were anticipating people to break them, and it was added as a safety precaution?
 
Apple design to use plastic cover over real glass panel maybe heat from inside the machine reflected and inflate glass panel causing the plastic cover to break
 
It's really sad that the majority of comments are negative. The only people who have a seeming vested interest in this apparent fault are those that are not owners of AVP. It's really sad that these jealous people have to gloat at the first sign of problems.

I was going to write the same. In recent months, the tone of the comments has really gone negative. The comments are downright mean and in no way constructive. The comments add no value, with the exception that they may help those of us that want to have a real discourse develop a block list for trolls we don't need to see.

Every issue is not a "gate". Every issue is not automatically attributed to malice on Apples part.

Is this a problem to investigate, absolutely. Let's give Apple an opportunity to at least investigate the issue before passing judgment.
 
Where’s all those fine folks on here who just a few weeks ago, before release, were thumbs-downing everyone on here who spoke against their golden Apple product that’s the ‘best thing since sliced bread’? Awfully quiet these days!

The product is a fantastic attempt at the next level and what potential there is out there. We just need to be realistic about what the AVP currently is and what it can, or can’t, do. Software issues, hardware issues, etc….im starting to wonder if Apple is taking the Tesla approach of getting things soon as they can and try to fix the issues at a later time instead of dealing with them before release. All in the name of pleasing shareholders and earnings numbers.
 
If this happened to me, I'll be honest... I'd demand a free repair or replacement.

Let's hope this turns out to be a manufacturing flaw, for just a small batch.

And remember, like phones and tables and laptops, this device generates heat. Make sure it's not suffocating while it's powered on. It needs to breathe.

Apparent fault — that's the issue at hand. Is this a manufacturing issue with a small batch?, or a design flaw that's going to affect nearly every unit sold? Did these people accidentally sit on the device and won't admit that?

Out of 10's or 100's of thousands sold, it's very likely that a small percentage will encounter the same issue from use.

Apple will learn from this and ensure that future designs won't suffer a similar single-point-of-failure. But affected devices should definitely be replaced by Apple at no cost. It's critical to maintain that positive PR at this early stage.
 
sure this makes the news.. but the thousands and thousands of MB Air (2020/13") that have this issue on their glass... Nada.
Well, there are complaints; Apple just tells people to pound sand and pony up $800.
 
My house is never higher than 65°. It’s 60° at night. All I do with my Vision Pro as watched 3-D IMAX movies on it. It always has warm air blowing out of the top of it while I do this. Sometimes I can even feel the fans across my face somehow

Thanks, I think I recall you saying that before about the fans... I will try watching a 3-D IMAX movie this weekend to see if that stresses it to the same point. So much to explore so little time!
 
Sorry… what’s AppleCare got to do with this? If the product is faulty and presents a problem by itself, there’s a one-year warranty. Why aren’t people entitled to a free repair?

The repair is free only if there is a demonstrated defect. All warranties have limitations. Let Apple investigate. The fact that a "small" number of people had their warranty claim denied doesn't mean that Apple cannot and will not change its stance. Apple has demonstrated on many occasions (taking longer than we'd like) that they will repair devices for free when a product defect is found.

The fact that people are using the iPhone 4 that is 13 generations old as an example is a testament to Apples QA.
 
We still don’t actually know if this is a design or manufacturing issue, but if the reports about the crack being in the same location are true, user error looks less likely.

The crack may be in the same location due to the stresses applied being similar.

If you examine 100 phones with a cracked screen you may find that many also have a scratched/dented corner. That is due to the fact that the corner hits first when dropped, and as such the stresses are highest there.

I’m sure they’ll start issuing free repairs eventually. Until that decision is final, I’ve canceled my order just in case they decide otherwise and I’m stuck with a cracked $3,500 investment.

You will never be able to find all the faults internally. At some point, you need to launch, put the product in the hands of people that will use it in ways you never intended. Apple could possibly have introduced multiple inferior versions of this product at some time in the past. Real customers make the best testers.
 
does not look good for aapl if more users report cracks.
i would not be happy to pay 300-800 to repair these things
