I just thought of the implications for law enforcement. Just point it at the suspect's face!
The power button is much larger so it could be there. That's the question? Touch id is not in the display, nor is it on the back. So were is it? Million dollar question?
Apple has brought features back that customers complained about loosing before. If they got rid of Touch ID it would NEVER come back. It's the most absurd suggestion.
What if it requires a gesture like blinking your eyes?Let me just say this again.
All one needs to do to unlock your phone is grab your phone point it quickly towards your face and unlock it. My nephew did that to me today and ran off with my phone.
So when your asleep anyone can get in your phone by hovering it less than a second near your face without you ever feeling a thing.
NO TOUCHID = NO SALE
Let me get this straight... Apple already has all our fingerprints potentially tied to our Apple IDs. Now they are going to have our faces as well?
I mean, I know the fingerprints are encrypted and kept on the device itself but there's always the possibility....
Because that would be the worst thing everWhat if it requires a gesture like blinking your eyes?
I'd like the idea that even when its on a surface, the phone might be able to angle the infrared sensor to 3D map your face and unlock the device. Just tap to wake and the software will do just that. That will be considered a "magical feature"
Why would you need to see your phone at that point? If you use your current phone this way nothing happens either. How about in the dark, on a bedside table when your head is half obscured by a pillow?
You realize there is a home button in the sense of its functionality right? You can't remove home Button functionality. It's how you use the device. All I know is... that the iPhone 8 will fundamentally change how I use this phone. People were mad at no more slide to unlock. Now. No more Touch ID and no no more home button.
Face ID will not be the name. Too simple and no flow to it.
How about "EYE-D" then?![]()
