I wasn't implying that Steven Spielberg is one of the greedy bastards. Those were two different points. The first point, about the greedy bastards, was simply to point out why there are so many teenagers in dead end jobs.

I mentioned Spielberg's income simply to put your income and everyone else's income in perspective. Hopefully the general reaction won't be "Damn him!" but "good for him! I'll be there someday."

Wow... If my math is right, his income comes out to $86,400 per day.

If I were him, I'd never drive the same car twice.

$86,400 would be if he were earning $1.00 per second. He's earning $2.50 per second.

He's earning $216,000 a day, which is $78,840,000 per year. Of course these figures are not exact, but he earns an average of $80 million per year.

edit: Actually, in 2005 he was making $10.78 per second, or $647 per minute. That year he made $340 million. But I think that year was unusual because of War of the Worlds and Munich.

im 16,
i work at movie theater at $5.85 an hour and about 35 hours a week, not bad,

about $300 every 2 weeks

I'm not sure if I'm considered a kid anymore, but I just got a new job working at Johnson & Johnson for $8.50 an hour. I get about 14 hours a week, which turns out to be almost $120 a week. I put about 35% of that in my savings account though, and 10% of that goes for tithe.

i worked for my dad last summer and made just over 5 g's. i just spent the last of that on my air. i need to get a job so i can buy some new gadgets and put some money away for the Academy of Art university. im 16 BTW

anyone wanna lend me around 50000$ ???
ill trade you for monopoly money

If you're angry that i'm shoving Spielberg's income in your face, don't be angry at me. Be angry at yourself for continually failing to achieve an income like that. I don't intend to discourage anybody. Only to encourage.

Yeah, I know it is not that good of an excuse but the truth is that I rarely ever spend my money.

Even when I do little IT help jobs I just take the money home and then put it in the bank.

If I needed to have a lot more spending money then I might get a regular job. But I do not think an 18 year old will be able to easily get an over $10 an hour job. It seems like a waste of my time if I am doing busy work. I am going to college next year in Mechanical Engineering and when I get a job out of college, I will actually be incorporating information I have learned in my job.

While it is nice even with your parents covering all school cost you will want spending money. You will have a pretty constant drain on your personally savings. It adds up over the years. For me I drained around some where around 600-700 a year. Less close to the end because my savings was running draw. I ended my college career with a 100 dollar left to my name. That was last Decemeber I have been in the real world since then.

I would suggest you find a job while in college. Try to get something working for the school that could help you out in your future career. That is what I did for spending money. I worked around 10 hours a week at 7.50 an hour. It was a nice little spending cash. Oh and a nice bonus is your can get most of it tax free.

I'm 17 and I've worked at the public library in our town since I was 14. I've gone from making 6.50/hour to 8. I work about 13 hours a week.

I also work about an hour a week at our school's Board of Education office to add messages to their JumboTron sign and make about 12.50 an hour.

I'm saving for a music tour this summer and a new MacBook Pro.

Wouldn't it be nice to get an extra $216,000 just because it's a leap year?

It doesn't quite work that way. He doesn't have a machine in his house that dispenses $2.50 a second. $2.50 per second is just an average of what he earns in a year. Leap year or not.

IT Stuff.

City Tech Department. Silly stuff. Purchase orders, errands - such as moving computers from various locations to another. Media help for older folks. Strip old Windows boxes of any useful components.

Liquor Store. Hey, $9 an hour for a mindless job is nice sometimes.

Lawn accounts - 2 a week in the summer - is $60 right there.

Art. Sell a piece and sometimes you get ahead a couple hundred.

Photographs. Easy money.

Slideshows for businesses and schools, as well as private functions.

Usually I take in over $200 on an average week, but it comes in waves. In the last week, I've made over $450, but like I said, some weeks, it could be $60.

Sounds like you have some nice things going for you there :D I wanted to join the Photography class in my school but I am already saving up for a Macbook and I can't afford the cost of a 35mm film camera with manual settings. Plus I have to pay a $100 fee for the class as well because we get to use the dark room and stuff. Oh well, instead I am taking TV Production :p

I'm 18 and work at PCworld as a technician earning £6.25 an hour. i also do some design on the side but i don't make too much from that.

Everything in my sig was bought by myself except the fuji cam which was a pressie :)

Apple Authorized Reseller and Repair Center: $10 an hour, been there for 5 years.

Lawns, $25-$35 depending on who I do it for.

Hosting: $8.50 at a local restaurant.

Good week for me is like $500-$600.

Most of the money goes to keeping my 88 Volvo running, adding parts to my PC gaming rig, and saving for retirement!!!

And yes to all the kids here while your earning cast get a Roth IRA and start saving, just $100 a month can go a long way in the future!!

I'm 17.

I've had two jobs. One at an Ice Cream Parlor from 15-16 years old (Cold Stone Creamery). Second, and current, job is in this retail store in the mall on the Vegas strip. I make $7.50 and work about 25 hours a week.

I don't see why teens my age (or their parents for that matter) find it so repulsive to work at this age, especially out here in Las Vegas, with many opportunities to do so.

I get an allowance of 10 dollars a week so that was 40 a month but now 20 of that a month goes to my iPhone bill. Occasionally I work with my Grandfather and we put thousands of adds on shopping carts one at a time. I remember before I raised the money for my iPhone I always saw people walking in to the grocery stores talking on their iPhones. I would always just work harder and I knew it would pay off, and now I have my own iPhone. I also mow lawns and do odd jobs sometimes. I have to find a good mac IT gig somewere!

"Is.......is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a kid?"

Come on, at least use the actual quote.

But really, it's awesome to see you guys doing things like this and making a decent living for yourselves (at that age) but just remember not to get too carried away on money. You have the rest of your life to work. Have some fun too and do stupid stuff while you're young. Don't end up like one of those self-absorbed people who have spent their entire youth/early adult life working only to find they're 30 years old, have a buttload of money but had a crappy childhood and are alone.

We won't be alone! We'll have our trustworthy Apple gadgets with us!! lol I'm just kidding.

I'm 20 (probably too old to be posting here) and I work in the UK Electrical Specialist Comet
, which is basically a targeted sales job, where I sell anything from laptops to TVs and washing machines.
I earn £5.55 / hour, however because of my sales performance that is raising £1.20 to £6.75 / hour.

Love it!

I'm 21 and £18,000 in debt with student loans, I'm sure you can work out how I paid for my mac.
