Exactly. I got one small ding and some hairline scratches (i think, from a seatbelt hasp) on my stainless case and those took all of 30 seconds to remove with a bit of Flitz on a clean cotton patch.

I am particularly surprised at how well the stainless link band is holding up, zero marks so far, which I could never say for any of my high-end Swiss watches after the first couple of weeks.

How is the Sapphire screen holding up?No worries about using a screen protector? Is this the stuff you used? http://tinyurl.com/ngkfjje

The Sapphire is perfect, I have worn sapphire crystal watches for decades and this is every bit as good as any of them. A screen protector might be useful on a sport model, or a plastic-screen Pebble, but not a sapphire screen.

Yes that URL shows the Flitz I wrote about.

That's good to know. Screen protectors completely ruin the watch display. An oily fingerprint essentially ends up covering the entire display.

I've accidentally hit my AW SS into the doorway a few times while carrying something and nothing bad to report. I do flinch when I've done it but so far no problems. I suspect it will hold up just like any other sapphire screen stainless steel watch. And if I ever do crack it into something the wrong way, at least we took out Apple Care on it so it won't be as bad $wise come time to repair the screen. Plan to keep it a few years and then like the rest of my Mac equipment get around to upgrading at some point. With my usage pattern on this one (just over 3 weeks) I think I'll be happy until then. I miss it when I have gotten delayed putting it on in the morning and leave for an errand in a hurry realizing it's still on the charger. Pretty much on my wrist from morning until bedtime otherwise.

The haptic motor on my 2nd AW is now starting to fail. Was very strong, even below max settings and now I can hardly feel on max with prominent. Have reset, rebooted and still weak. Used to be when I toggled the haptic tap intensity it would really be felt, now barely.:(

An office worker of ours is debating whether or not he should get the Apple Watch, but is concerned about scratching or damaging it. I told him to follow along with this post, but he's still on the fence.

We debated a bit and I mentioned to him that there are always Tempered Glass screen protectors and silicone cases for protection, but he thinks it takes away from the form factor. Either way, I think he's going to end up getting it, just waiting for the right time to make that impulse buy.

Sapphire screen is flawless, however the SS bezel definitely scratches up easily, which if people really cared could easily be polished back to pristine within minutes, no issues. The big thing is the Sapphire screens stay flawless and have been around for decades without issues in majority of high end watches I own as well!

Returned my 38mm SGS today. Had it for less than a week and already had some dents and dings on the casing. If I didn't know that in the back of my head I would eventually sell this in the future for a newer gen then I might not have cared. But for less than a week with this much of a beating already I decided to ask myself " why am I trying to keep this in good shape knowing I'll sell it in the future and why do I even want this model at all if that's the case?"

Decided to wait and see third party vendor pricing which truly may be at no discount but I'm in no rush. I did love wearing the watch but my next one will definitely be an Apple Watch (with sapphire).

The Space Black SS seems to do ok, if it wasn't for the flawed link bracelet snap out of the box.

The Sport ones do ok if you don't bang them.

The regular SS I think look just about the best, but I can't stand those micro scratches they get from simply touching your skin, looks used after 24 hours.

I picked up a SS BSB last weekend. A few days ago -- BAM -- clipped a doorframe with the top right side of the watch above the digital crown.

No damage to the crystal, but I now have a scuff on the casing. Ah well.

Looking to put in an order for Apple watch but I did have one concern.

What I liked about the Pebble was that I could receive an audible (vibration) alert on the watch without my phone waking up as well. Can Apple Watch accomplish the same thing?

What screen protectors are you guys using? I got the skimp I but it makes the screen really grainy and ruins the experience.

Zagg Invisibleshield HD. Don't buy it, it's garbage. Orange peel effect and attracts oily fingers. I'm getting a stainless steel watch shortly and going naked.

I have always worn watches but never damaged them. I thumped my AW twice in the first 15 mins on a dioir frame and stable. No damage or scratches to the screen or SS case fortunately. Happy to report that three days later no further mishaps as my wrist is no super glued to my hip :)

Just sold my (scratched) Apple Watch Sport Space Grey for a tidy £255 - had it since launch day. Replaced it with a Stainless Steel model. Very happy to do so, as I had several small scratches on the screen of the old watch. Hopefully this new one stands up better.

I have a few very minor, almost unnoticeable scratches on my SS 42mm which were caused by the Milanese Loop. Other than that it's perfect.

I have a 42MM stainless steel... and the watch itself is working fine, but I'm disappointed... the milanese loop magnetic end (the end that has magnets that wraps around) is covered in scratches.

Also my side button is slightly loose, and I asked about this in another thread and apparently it's normal.

Same here.. the sapphire crystal is fine, but the magnetic end is covered in scratches. doesnt really bother me though.

Im interested to know what you expected, a brushed peice of metal on the bottom of your wrist that rubs on everything, its going to get scratched?

I think some poeple have these cinonceivable thoughts on what Apple can do with simple metals, they will scratch people! :)
