3 weeks in for me, SSG 42mm. No marks, had a couple of knocks but only on wood. One thing though, my contacts/power on off side button has become slightly loose. At first it was pretty much solid but now its slightly loose, a bit like the the 5/5s lock buttons were.

Cant decide if its normal and to live with it or to take it back and ask them to exchange it? Also I'd be afraid to get a refurbished replacement like they can do with iPhones.

Apple looked at the damage on the wihite sport watch and exchanged it as a factory defect. They said they want to examine it further.

They never cease to amaze me with how reasonable they are.

I have been using my Apple Watch for quite some time now, and haven't had any problems. But today I got this hardware failure as shown on the attached image. Called Apple support and they was NO help at all. So now I have a defect Apple Watch and nothing to do about it - that SUX :(

take it to the store man. i can see how the online tech can't do anything for you, they can't fix defective hardware problem over the phone!

I've now had my watch for a few weeks and I'm happy with the condition of the watch. I try to be careful with it, (within reason) and in contrast to my prior comments about a case I opted for the LUVVITT® ULTRA ARMOR case given that I'm in karate and wanted some extra protection.

Overall I'm very happy with the watch selection and how its holding up.

I have a SS with black sport band that I'm very active with and never take off except to charge or swim. It snapped off while I was juggling shopping bags on a Tokyo street and a total stranger picked it up and chased me a block to give it back. Only in Japan! Needless to say I didn't spot a single nick on it despite falling on a concrete sidewalk. It also snapped off while I was carrying some boxes out of my garage onto my concrete driveway without any noticeable nicks.

No damage from wearing/using it normally. However, one Saturday night a couple of weeks ago I had everything charging nicely for the night on the kitchen counter. I went out to the kitchen about 1:00 am to get my iPad and forgot that my watch was on top of it. I unplugged the ipad by touch (in the dark) and pulled it toward me, throwing (yes) the watch clear across the kitchen and smashing the sapphire crystal to shreds in the upper right corner. Had a Jack Daniels (double), went to the Apple Store the next day and within 4 days had a new watch for the $79 AppleCare+ fee. AC+ is akin to AMEX--I don't leave home without it!

First significant scratch on the case that is noticeable, at least by myself. Even a Rolex will get dinged up so I'm not sweating it.

SS FTW!!!

I have had my since launch day. I got a screen protector as soon as I could. But the corners kept peeling up so I just took it off. I do have three small scratches in the sport casing. I figure its the sport watch its meant to be used. I am sure it will effect resale value a little, but nothing I can do about it at this point.

i'm curious how it snapped off - do you wear it on the last hole of the sports band or something?

As can be seen in another posted topic, here is the beginning of a larger problem I believe will grow and grow for many, many owners. I baby my watch (only ever on my wrist or on the charger, never anything else) and now the Apple logo on back has peeled/flaked off. It appears to have bare aluminum showing through now. Started a service/support ticket with Apple to send it in to them... I've seen many online with the same issue, SS, aluminum, doesn't seem to discriminate... The serial number has been covered up by a photo editing program. Only the Apple Logo as of now, and I only wipe it down with a microfiber cloth...

That is strange. My apple logo isn't even a thing you can feel. Yours looks like it was a sticker or something?

I am happy to say that my 42 Black SS work as expected from 8 Jun. I use it everyday, I treat it like any other normal watch. I didn't torture it, but take no special care either.

I choose this one because I love it's black look. Nothing to do with the DLC coating. In fact, I know nothing about DLC coating until I buy this watch. However, it proves that this coating works very well (at least on my watch).

In the last 10 days, I moved to a new place. I move at least 100 boxes, some of them are quite heavy (e.g. book inside), and plenty of metal items. So far, zero scratch, not a single one on the screen or the band.

In fact, 2 weeks ago. I saw a tiny silver scratch like line on the band. I believed that's a scratch, but I don't really care about it. And now, that line is gone. So, it's actually the band scratch something else, and just the metal residual stick on the band. I didn't do anything to it, and it's now back to normal. There are plenty of contacts between my watch and the surrounding objects. So far, nothing can cause any damage from normal usage.

In terms of the function. I know what I was looking for before I bought it. All I need is just an extention of my iphone. So that I don't need to carry my phone with me (inside my home), but I won't miss any call, and I can leave my phone at silent mode all the time. This is the primary reason that I get the Apple watch. And it work really well in this aspect. The only problem so far is that about once a month, my watch will not able to connect to the phone via my home wifi network. Since I expect it will work, so that I won't check if the red lost connection icon is there (until I really use my watch to do something). Therefore, it may actually make me miss call in that few minutes to few hours period. Luckily, this still works better than without the watch. Also, the fix is so simple, forget the network on the iphone and join it again will fix the issue straight away. I can't miss call because my job's nature. So that when I am on duty, double check if the watch is connecting to the network properly when my duty start, still much much better than I must carry my phone all the time, and must set the ringer as loud as possible (which may wake up my baby at mid night). Yes, I may on duty at mid night, all I need to do is sleeping and able to receive calls from my company. So, I can now just wear my watch and go to bed. The vibration is not that strong, however, it's a very effective way to wake me up. I never ever miss anything at mid night. And I can have a quick look to make sure it's the company calling me, but not any spam call. Which is a bonus.

The digital touch is good fun, but not a killer function. It make me very easy to call my wife or daughter (inside my home). I can tap on it and they know I am looking for them. Of course, they can do the same thing as well. So no one need to shout (again, this may alert the baby), and no one need to shout from one floor to another (this won't work anyway :p). However, if I need to pass more info to them, it's still easier to send them a voice message (e.g. ask my daughter to get me something from her position to mine). Drawing on the watch is more time consuming, and won't work better than a voice message (apart from it's more fun).

3rd party apps still the weakest point on the watch (especially the very long loading time). Hopefully the Watch OS2 will make it better (AFAIK, it's much better in WOS2 because the 3rd party apps can work without the iphone). However, the notification / glance for 3rd party apps works quite well in most of the time (e.g. the watch can alert me when there is a delay / gate change for my flight). In fact, this is what I need from the watch. If I need a full function app, I still prefer to use my iphone (I am not sure if I was affected by the long loading time on the watch, so that I don't want to use any 3rd party apps on the watch. Or it's really as simple as the watch screen is too small for any relatively complicated interaction, so that I prefer to use the phone).

Since I use my watch, I learn and actively use voice control and dictation. I never use this function on my phone (before I get my watch). And my comment is that which make some simple control much easier (but can't replace complicated control), however, the accuracy is not very good. It's about 99% accurate for simple function like set an alarm, but only 80% accuracy for dictation (Cantonese). Also, the "Hey Siri" function only works 90% of the time, not high enough for a device that heavily rely on this function.

Navigation is another function I used. If Siri works, then everything is simple. I don't even need to pull out my phone. However, since the accuracy of the dictation is not that high. So the overall success rate for a "smooth experience" to use this function is only about 50%. Another 50% I still need to pull out my phone.

There are only few watch faces to choose. However, I don't need many, I only need one which serve my well. Luckily, the modular face works well for me. I can have my roster, local time, date, UTC, timer, alarm, all these on a single watch screen. It seems the Watch OS2 will further enhance the modular face, which is a good news for me.

One of the "better than expected" area is the battery. Usually, I wear it when I wake up, and charge the watch when I sleep. For most of the time, the watch still have 60%+ battery when I recharge it. The most demanding case for me is that I was suffered from an unscheduled overnight at somewhere else. I don't have my charger with me. So I wear the watch for more than 30 hours. Without any power saving action, the watch still has 16% battery on the next day when I back to my place. Not a lot of buffer, but surely enough to handle something like this. And next time, I can turn the watch into power saving mode when I am in the hotel room, which should save lots of battery, and make the watch have plenty of juice to work on the 2nd day.

To sum up, I will say the watch works well so far. As long as the user know what (s)he is buying. The watch should works as expected. However, it's definitely not a must have item for most people (the "must have" level is much lower than a smart phone). Also, as a toy, it's not much to play around (at this moment). Will I ditch the Apple watch and go back to my Rolex? NO. However, can I live without it? YES, but just less convenience.

Scratches on the screen? No
Scratches on the case? No
What model do you have? Silver sport 42mm
Damages to the band? No
What band do you have? White sport band, black sport band and Milanese loop
What is you typical day like? Wear all day, walk a lot, teach (in art studio and sometimes workshop)
Was any of your damaged caused by something not typical of your day? N/A
and finally,
Approximately how many days have has your Watch been following you around on your wrist? about 12 weeks

There have been the inevitable bashes against doorframe and railings but no major incidents and it looks like new. Very happy with how it's holding up.

i'm curious how it snapped off - do you wear it on the last hole of the sports band or something?

I wear it on the second to last hole on the band, but frankly a well-placed tug on the band can pull the entire watch off fairly easily (or at least my sport band).

strange, my pin is pretty robust and takes a good tug to come loose. i wear mine on the third or fourth to last (middle) hole and i can appreciate the extra bit of band tucked away providing a little more grip if i pull it...

if yours comes apart so easily maybe it's defective. consider asking apple about swapping it for the XL band so you can tuck more away and wear it more securely?

I always find myself checking at the end of the day if I nicked the watch somewhere by accident (I know, it's a little OCD I admit.) The sides and face are ok. BUT after reading about peeling on the inside, I decided to check that. No peeling but my sensor is scratched. Its not from my wrist, my skin is not like sandpaper..only thing possible is when I put it on the charger at night. D*mn, talk about sensitive!

As for functionality, few bugs I hope they fix. Losing Sunset/Sunrise times, which effects the Solar watch screen and Astronomy - shows up as "--/--/--" on Modular screen. Also"Activity," I get pinged while I'm driving in the mornings in traffic that I achieved my Move goal..I just shake my head..almost have to laugh at that. Since A) I'm driving and B) I literally feel like I'm not moving at times in the lousy traffic backups around here.

I am using os2 beta 5 and the sunrise sunset work perfectly. As soon as the sun sets, it switches to sunrise and the same for sunrise.

Os2 beta 5 is way more sensitive to calories / move but the same for exercise and stand. When I would now my lawn with version 1.0.1 on a riding lawnmower it would register about a half a mile walking and 50 calories and a few exercise minutes. Lawn take 1 1/2 hours to mow. With beta 5 everything doubles basically. Calories between 100-200 and exercise minutes about 10 and registering about 1 mile even though I am riding. :)

I've never received any credit while driving. And my commute is 1 hour each way when I do go in. No matter which version.

Don't blame the watch too much. My UP24 would register over 5 miles when riding the lawnmower and my borrowed Fitbit charge HR registers 4+ miles. Just hard for these devices to know what you are doing.

have the link bracelet, besides being very prone to scratches, the links do not hold together and come undone without any pressure at all!!!

while just sitting on the couch the watch will fall off my arm because one of the links opened up.
sent it to apple, they cant replicate, no replacement.

lovely, a 1300€ watch with mediocre support.
I KNEW this would happen. i wondered to myself, having every link easily replaceable by pushing on a button? doesnt sound like a good idea..

Are you using the smaller or larger size band? I was right on the last hole for the small band so I switched to the larger band so there is more band to tuck in. It now fits very securely for me.

I've had my sport silver case for about two weeks now, and there is no damage to it thus far. And I've even mistakenly banged it on a brass door handle too. There is some dirty on the white sport band that I have, but that was to be expected when I bought it. Unfortunately I baby my watch as much as I baby my iPhone (microfiber cloth to both multiple times a day).

Hats nuts. I looked sideways at mine and it scratched.

Seriously though it barely pushed against a soft apartment drywall with paint and there's a weird scratch right where the screen joins. I'm using a screen protector because the first week the costing got w minor
Scratch. Then there is my girlfriends which wound up with with a gouge.

I genuinely think this new series aluminum stuff is a fares. It's super delicate. More delicate than my phone has been IMO.
