I purchased the 42mm Stainless Steel with black sport band....and LOVE IT btw....

I try to be VERY particular with it, although I did bump into a few things, which is normal use I would say. There was a small scratch on the steel under the screen, but it was hardly noticeable.

However, after a couple weeks the digital crown became very tough to use. It was like some type of gunk or something was in it and it was very difficult to rotate and when you pushed it as a button you couldn't even feel any type of "click". I am certain I didn't get anything on it. I tried the support article Apple published, which said to wash it with warm water, but it simply didn't work.

After calling support they said it was a defect and sent me a new one. I was very impressed with the exchange time, which was 3 days I think. VERY smooth and fast. The new one just arrived today.

I switched to the classic buckle on the replacement, and they had no problem with it. I even got to keep my original case, charger and half a black sport band! I didn't even think about it until after I mailed it that they didn't want all of it, just the watch itself. I will probably call them tonight and make sure they meant to do this because it doesn't seem right.

I have been wearing my SS LB for over 2 weeks now and the link band is really scratched up bad. Probably somewhere around 10+ very visible scratches. I'm not overly concerned about it because stainless steel scratches, although I can tell you this bracelet scratches much easier than any of the other high end watches I own. The SS body of the watch seems to be holding up fine so far.

White Sport band looks REALLY rough and even a bit grey now after only a month or so of wearing it. Cannot be cleaned and feels like the outer layer has rubbed off already. Calling Apple for a replacement, hopefully this is one of the defective ones....yeah right.

I do have a few markings in my case on the button side but it was my own fault.... I stuck my hand between 2 sliding doors to force them open and rubbed the case against the edge of the aluminum frame. The marks I suspect would have been there no matter the watch or make up of the case.

The band does have some quality issues IMHO or at least my band does. The "coating" is wearing away so it has a 2 tone appearance.
I've had the 42mm SS with BSB for ten days now.

Only catastrophe was dropping it. It's still kinda hard to put the Sports Band on with one hand

Luckily it was a wood floor and there is no damage. I was worried about the digital crown being affected but so far so good.

Sorry but can you explain how it's hard to put it on one handed?

Mine was great until I accidentally brushed it against a steel doorknob. Now I have a nasty scuff on the top side of the SS case. I expected better - it wasn't a catastrophic bang but a light scrape. Oh well, now I have to go find someone to buff it for me.

I've just received my replacement and all I had to return was the watch and strap (keeping the large single end). I now have 2 chargers and 2 plugs plus an extra half strap. Don't think Apple really care about this stuff as they were VERY specific about what they wanted returned to them.

I expected them to send me a watch in replacement and a strap and NOT the entire boxed product. Happy that they did though.

I smacked my SGS against the frame of my sliding glass door. So hard that i was scared to look at my watch for a few minutes.
When i looked, it seemed like it hit on the corner hitting both case and glass. It looked like it was a crack and a scratch, but was only white paint from the door frame. Wiped right off. No complaints here.

Very well thank you. I have not put it under a microscope to search for damage but as fas as I am concerned its still in perfect shape having received it on the 4/24. The software upgrade sped things up and little and since then I have been quite pleased with the watch. If they could improve app speed just a bit more I would rate the watch as fantastic. Until then its just very good.

Got my Sport 42mm with blue band end of April; no damage on any part. Quite happy with it.
Sometimes wipe of the screen; but that's it.

Managed to get a couple of small scratches on the Sport screen just from regular use. Not a big deal, but it does make me wish you could get the Sapphire glass on the aluminum body. That would be the best combo IMO.

Had my Apple Watch Sport 42mm White since launch day, and now is the first time I've noticed some damage. The screen has 4-5 very small hairline scratches that you have to look very closely to find. I'm disappointed with that, I was hoping it would resist scratching better. The band hasn't had any discoloration and it still looks as good as it did on day one. Still satisfied with the watch, but the scratches make me a little disappointed with it.

I'm getting my 42mm SG BSB, finally. scratches and scuffs . . .well, they're to be expected for a device thats on your wrist all day. What I am concerned about though is how heavy sweating may lodge residue on the speaker and mic openings.

I sweat a lot working out, plan is to have a small towel in my gym bag and wipe it down after workouts. I guess only time will tell.

re they real scratches or oleophobic coating scratches? can you feel them with your fingernails?

Had my 38 mm SS BCB for over a month. One night the edge of my MacBook Air ran down the top side of the case and left a gash all along the top of the unit. I died a little, but went out the next day to pick up some Cape Cod polishing wipes. After two sessions the gash has been minimized to a small series of scratches that have to be pointed out to be seen. From this point when I polish the entire unit at about once every six months to a year it will eventually go away completely.

I spent the extra money ($20) for their entire kit which includes the wipes, gloves, and cleaning cloth and it all works well together.

I also bought a minanese band and that is showing the same tarnish that everyone else has been experiencing. Right under where the two bands meet. This is discouraging, but expected as I have owned Skagen watches with the same type of band and they all experience this. Might still return this band.

For people that have space gray and have scratches on the body, are the "scratches" gray or is the space gray a coating and silver underneath

It's not difficult any more. For the first few days it was. Never had a watch band like the sports band. But once you get it, it's pretty easy.

It's still absolutely pristine over a month since getting it now.

I actually dreamed that I'd scuffed it to hell last night though.. very weird, it's certainly not cropped up in a dream before. For some reason I'd put it on with my Rolex GMT-II alongside and there were scratches on both and all my dreaming thought process said was.. me'h, I'll have to polish it.

Dreams.. man, so random.

Why can't I have dreams of pressing the contact button and being beamed to the new Apple mothership.. that would have been at least a fun dream. Need more cheese snacks I think :D

I am so disappointed with the black sports band. I had it for a week. Just normal day-to-day wear. After a week, I noticed a white patch on the top of the bad. I wiped at it and it wouldn't come off. I washed the band gently, it still wouldn't come off. Then I realised that it was some kind of coating and I had to rub at the entire band and scrub ALL the coating off just to get the thing to look even. A couple of days later, the other half of the band started doing the same thing, so I had to scrub that as well.

It looks ok now it's even, but I am pretty peed off about it. I could take it to Apple and ask them to exchange it, but pretty sure another sports band is just going to do the same thing.

The same thing happened to mine, and I'm still not sure whether it was that I inadvertently sprayed the band with something that left a residue, or it was some sort of coating on the band, itself. At any rate, I scrubbed the band well, used a mild cleaner (Cetaphil), rinsed, and it has not happened again in nearly 2 more weeks. Puzzling!

My 42mm Apple Watch with milanese loop is doing fine no damage at all. Love the watch but can't get Apple Pay to work because the watch reads my double click as two single clicks.

today I've noticed that the crown feels 'gritty' at times, and then at other times it's normal. Had dinner with my Dad tonight, and it was doing it, and showed him, and naturally to him it felt fine...checked it again and it was fine. It's now done this 4 times today and I'm a little concerned

edit....how is everyones MB/MBP holding up? i feel like the pin is going to scratch my stupid adding machine to hell
