1. Please don't integrate F***book with iOS.
2. Surely, the iPad is fast enough to run facebook on it's browser by now. Is it the NO FLASH thing. GEEEEZEEE.

This won't be the straw that breaks the camels back but if it does happen it will be a mighty big straw, more like a tree. Just my opinion. I know most people like F***book, I don't. And I don't like little icons popping up everywhere asking me to go to facebook or favorite this or plus one that. Screw these sites, if I want to go there, I will. I know how to get to facebook.

I couldn't agree more. I guess its inevitable due to Facebook's success, but I'm tired of having to see that icon on literally every single web page I navigate to now.

The icon on other sites for sharing it on Facebook, google +, etc is down to that website choosing to put it there, Facebook didn't, so you should blame the sites you visit for that....

Funny stuff. I can actually see Jobs yelling at Zuck while the little puppet cringes.

----------

Honestly we're probably way better off without Facebook touching low APIs on the iPhone. Thats hack portal if I've ever heard of one.

Regardless, this gets pretty freaking irritating. I'm never going to click one of these 'share this page' things. They must drive traffic, but really, bad look.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_5 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8L1 Safari/6533.18.5)

This isn't Apple arrogance. It's Fortune 500's, who's got the biggest dick? But more importantly, it's playing one partner off another. Considering the TouchPad was a year away from retail, FB was playing HP and Apple against each other and it bit FB in the butt. Don't expect FB integration in iOS5. You burn a partner and they remember. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised to see a rep from Google on stage touting GPlus integration.

It is Apple arrogance. I use iOS because it supports the services I use (Kindle, Netflix, Facebook, etc). If Apple drives those away, I switch to Mango. I won't switch the rest of my life to work with Apple. Technology is my servant. I am not a slave to technology or any company.

question

ok, i am stupid. i've used an iphone for a total of maybe 2 minutes in my life, though I plan to get one. this is about an ipad-specific application? android automatically integrates fb with the phone, some flavors (like htc sense) better than others. That said, all this creeps me out if anything, but that is just the new world i suppose. So what is the big whoop about this new facebook?

Not sure why everyone is wanting a Facebook ipad app. There are already a few good ones that have been out forever and not like the one from Facebook is going to be much different.

So it was always Steve Jobs holding the company back with his hot head and spoiled brat mentality. He never did work well with others.

Now that he's gone we should see some real progress

This will probably pan out to be true. Of course posting things like this here will cause an uproar because you insulted their leader. But facts are facts.

How does it feel to be Mark Zuckerberg's bitch?

I don't know, I'm not on Facebook. I was talking about them as human beings and business men. Perhaps you would understand that better if you read it again?

Steve Jobs managed to be in the right place at the right time four times in a row: First Apple, then Next, then Pixar, then again Apple. Looks like a little bit more than luck to me.

Please show me exactly where I said that Jobs success was due entirely to luck? Try reading it again. You've obviously missed the point.

Zukerberg. What a bozo. Now that the touchpad has bit the dust he's friending Apple again.

This is a story right off the wall.

History repeating itself. Very reminiscent of NBC's hissy fit when Apple refused to increase the price of videos on iTunes. NBC stormed off iTunes, helped found Hulu & gave preferable terms to Amazon. Of course, despite those efforts NBC found out that being on iTunes was all that mattered as far as the marketplace was concerned.

People can say Apple is arrogant, etc, etc., but it's mostly because Apple has been burned so many times with its past collaboration efforts. Does anyone remember the the first Moto iTunes Phone. Horrible. Apple had very little input on that one and we see what happened. In an interview Jobs stated to effect that it was an important lesson for him that going forward Apple had to be intimately in every project involving any Apple technology. It couldn't just license out technology and rely on the licensee doing things "right."

And those harping on Jobs being "furious," if a business partner of yours lied to your face like Zuckerberg did to jobs you'd be pretty steamed too. It breads a lack of trust.

Not to stray too far from the subject but also keep in mind that while Jobs is far from hurting financially, he was only collecting $1 per year from Apple.

The messiah Steve Jobs received his 1 dollar salary because he is a tax cheat and wanted to avoid paying income taxes.

just cos you don't use them, doesn't mean others don't, i use them sometimes, like the other day when a trailer was released and wanted a friend to see it, clicked the share straight to his FB and he viewed it straight from there. It can be really convenient. Like i said, may not be of use to you, but it is to others.

And your idiot points comment just makes you seem a bit silly, so well done....

the unofficial ones are clunky, buggy, one i have tried has never worked, they're unrelaible and also i am not keen on entrusting a 3rd party thing with my username and password.... i know a few people that will only use official apps.

Uh ? If I write a Facebook app in my basement, Zuckerberg has nothing to do with it.

----------

Facebook has public APIs to write these apps, how are they supposed to block anyone ? That would be like saying Apple's website is not a public service and that they can stop any company from making HTTP requests to it. Face it, this story is bunk or Steve just doesn't understand and blew up for nothing.

This is not looking good for Steve in my book, makes him look irrational. If Apple wanted a Facebook app for iPad so bad, they should have done like HP and wrote the thing themselves.

As soon as that Facebook icon is placed on ANY website and/or app Zukerberg has a legal right to stop it.

Or even the word "Facebook".

Look it up at the trademark office. They have at least five trademarks for that word.

Hyperbole much? Jobs is doing nothing illegal and for your to state that is ignorant. If you have a problem with the tax code, OK, but to suggest that someone who uses the code to his own favor is a cheater is cheap and low down. Best to my knowledge Jobs pays taxes on his income. It may not be at the rate you prefer, but that doesn't make him a tax cheat. I don't know anyone who willingly pays more taxes than they have too -- even the vaunted Mr. Buffet, who also takes little salary in favor of dividends and capital gains to lower his tax rate.

Actually Jobs was far from the first CEO to take a $1 salary. It looks so great to the public and stockholders, but he could have received tens of millions in stock options, etc. I have no idea if this was the case with Jobs, but other executives made millions per year like this.

Conversely, that screencap is more representative of traffic desperate blogs. I can't imagine that anyone could name all those sharing services, let alone use them.

The overwhelming majority of people will simply copy paste the URL, rather than hunt around a page for a service-appropriate share button.

Oh, did I push some buttons there? Well, here's a chance to redeem yourself.

50 positive reinforcement points if you can name all the icons in just one row.

i've never seen one with that many, the ones i have seen, and have used and there's only about 4 or so, RSS ones are highly useful. the facebook one i have used often, it's alot quicker and easier than copying the url, opening facebook, going to my friends wall and posting it.

nope, just made me think like you were some arrogant douchebag who thought he was better than anyone else. i don't have to 'redeem' myself as i haven't done anything wrong....

Zuckerberg is probably one of the only people that could pretty much say F U to Steve/Apple and not care all that much. And that no doubt pisses Steve off because what he wants, he gets.

This is about ego - not about product.

At the moment, Facebook hasn't made much money yet. They just have a very high market valuation. That can be destroyed quite easily.

Facebook has hit the wall and is trying to avoid he fate of MySpace. They're clearly scared and trying to transform FB into something new and different. Outright lying to Apple (and especially to Steve, personally) was a huge mistake. I would never trust a company that played me for a fool. Apple needs to approach this from what is in it for Apple and let FB make all of the concessions.

Zuckerberg again being a worthless little snitch. Stole his way to the top, and he'll do whatever it takes to benefit him before anyone else. All the way from stomping on top tier CEOs to screweing his FB user base w/ privacy snafus.

Kinda like Jobs.
