I just bought a 2016 Sonata on Sunday, and am anxiously awaiting this update. Have not seen a download option for it yet, but hopefully it will be up soon. I was at the dealership earlier today and they said it should be up sometime tonight
We bought a Tucson in February so I'm also excited. Although it looks like only the Limited with Nav gets it right now.

wow - I spend $100K on a car with a brand who is meant to be leading edge (MB) yet they still can't beat Hyundai to the market on this. I can't buy an aftermarket system with car play because the command system in MB are integrated through the whole car :(

I have been waiting 20 months for this update. The advertised CarPlay support was the reason I got the 2015 Sonata and now more than halfway through a 36-month lease it is still not available. It never occurred to me to suspect vaporware in a car, but there you are.
I wonder if legally you could get 100% of your money back seeing as car still isn't as advertised? I'd say there's a good chance you can.

Hyundai, great! and now, why the **** u dont do same thing here in Europe?

Hey how about waking up the Carplay software division and getting crap people actually want and are expecting? CARPLAY IS DOA. Everytime I look at my unit I want to smash it.

I couldn't ever bring myself to buy a car called "Sonata".

Update has launched for my 2016 Tucson!

It's because they don't care about CP/AA. They understand that most of their customers are buying the tri-point, not some tech overlay. Same for those who buy the propeller, the 4 rings, the prancing horse, or the trident. For auto manufacturers, the only value of CP/AA is an additional bullet point on their marketing sheets and a possible $$ add-on for upgraded systems.

Website is down for me. Maybe they're updating it now..?

EDIT: False alarm.

Did you have that download tab before?

I definitely did, but it had a submenu that said Android Auto. That submenu went away this morning, and I got the screenshot you saw earlier.

Would love to see more car stereo head unit models with CarPlay. I drive some old brick of sh*t and it seems like thats not going to change for a while.
There are some aftermarket CarPlay compatible units starting to appear, so we owners of old POS cars or trucks do have some hope... :)

I'm just waiting for Toyota to get Carplay.

Enjoy your (seemingly) infinite wait. Toyota is the only manufacturer to my knowledge that has come out to say they specifically have zero plans to support Android Auto and CarPlay. They are focusing on their Entune system.

Funny, I told myself that my next purchase HAD to have CarPlay and I was so mad at Honda for not putting it in the Pilot. I swore off Toyota because they said they weren't ever doing it... but then we looked at the Sienna. I have 2 daughters -- 5yrs and 9 weeks old. Admittedly, I haven't even sat down to explore all of the Entune features but it actually doesn't seem too bad. We had a 2013 Rav4 before the '16 Sienna and the Entune in that was JUNK.

I read from a lot of sources that actually said Apple CarPlay wasn't as "knock your socks off" as the hype would suggest. I never did get to experience it myself. Maybe I'll go aftermarket in my Civic and put CarPlay in if I really REALLY want it down the line.

I do think it stinks that Toyota won't adopt it. I can sort of see their reasoning but hey, maybe one day they'll cave.

But I doubt you bought your MB for its electronics. I know I don't consistently buy my Bimmers for that reason because that is there weak point for sure. I buy them for the way they drive.

My dad owned a couple Hyundais. Great cars for the $ but, except for Equus, they are in no way comparable, either in drive or comfort to any lux or near lux car I've ever been in. Airplay isn't something that would sway me to buy one brand over another.

Download is up and working for me. Was able to download in about 45 minutes. You'll need the SD card that came with your car.

Also, as to why the Hybrid isn't included in the update, it's because the hybrid models are almost always based on the previous body style and technology, so the OS and other important portions of the system are likely based on the 2014 tech package. I read this somewhere before, but don't have a link without looking for it (which I don't care to do).

Yeah, I know. While I'd like CarPlay, I don't care too much about it. I might use it only a few times a year if I'm going somewhere I don't usually go. Besides that, I'm fine with the built-in sound system. Just set my iPhone to shuffle and it plays pretty well. To me, CarPlay is just a perk. I'm so not one of those people who's like "Oh, no CarPlay? Forget that car!" Besides, with my Prius, I usually have to get gas only once a month give or take.
