Lol why is the automatic assumption often price? I paid full price for the 256gb X and it didn’t hurt my pockets one bit. However, in the end for me the 8 Plus blows the X away. The X may be the latest to be released but I in no way at all consider it the ‘best’ iPhone.

The price difference is a lot bigger than you suggest though. You are comparing the highest storage 8 to the lowest storage X. A person paying top whack for the 8 is doing so to get maximum storage. They are not going to pay slightly more for a device with only 64GB of storage just because they are close in price. You have to compare like for like in situations like this.
I’ve made the point many times that Apple could have tried a lot harder with the 8. The differences are minimal and that’s rather insulting to people looking for a worthy upgrade. It’s still a great phone and for people like me on a 6S, it’s a decent upgrade that is premium quality despite a hefty price tag.
I can’t see the price tag of the X being sustainable long term though. It’s just that bit too much to encourage many people to upgrade annually and puts a significant number of people off initially. I have a feeling sales will spike in 12 months time when the price is lower and the next generation phone is released. We had this in the UK this year when the iPhone 7 went down in price and it was suddenly more popular than the iPhone 8.
Its funny, for you its too small, for others (me included) its too big… i will wait till they’ll release MiniX (SE size).
And please define ‘real pro heavy user’ ? im really curious to know.. and please dont tell me its someone that playing games, 24\7 on fbook, watching YouTube vids and taking 100s of selfies.

Yes but if there was ever a time for the old saying... “It’s hard to be humble when you own the best” this is it. In fact, I sort of think the higher price of the iPhone X does give owners a little more reason to show it off as a status symbol. Now it takes a lot more then a phone to impress me, but Apple is a big deal in the teen and lower twenty-something markets which are more likely to be impressed with someone who owns an iPhone X.
Now I’d choose the X over the 8 any day, but that’s because I have been spoiled by the Galaxy S8 design and the iPhone 8 would feel like a huge step backwards in design.
Amused at this assumption that it is about price. Some of us can quite easily afford both. Essentially, it comes down to no bazels vs screen width on the Plus.

I think those owners are in for a shock if they think everybody is going to be impressed by it or think of it as a status symbol. I certainly don’t. I think it’s pretty sad if owners of the X really do need that reassurance. My advice still stands to those people, ‘get a life’.

It’s not an assumption if ‘price’ is a valid reason for those sharing an opinion. Like yourself I could afford the X, but it is about the price for me. I don’t think any mobile phone is worth over a grand just because of its brand. I’d rather get a slightly cheaper or older device. For that is one of the reasons I am fortunate enough to be able to buy the things I want. Shrewd decisions and not wasting money.

I did a side by side with the 8 Plus and the X today and walked out with the 8 PLUS. Very happy with my choice. Coming from a used SE it’s a huge improvement.

Ultimately when I looked at what the X can do that the 8P cannot do I wasn’t all that impressed.

^THIS, also because I prefer a finished product than an unfinished one, I don't have to suffer burn ins and having to change backgrounds more often and the terrible colors of the screen in some cases. NOPE, I take the 8 Plus all the way and btw I can afford the X model so don't come with the lame excuse of "if you had enough money you would've prefer the X" because I'm a smart buyer not an impulsive one 😉
It's not about affording them. It's whether or not there is enough of a difference between the 8 and the X to justify a $300 difference.
In my opinion, there isn't to me but I am sure to some the difference is justified.
No matter if you chose to get the 8 or the X though, enjoy it! The pissing match going on here between people is childish and stupid.

I have the 256 gb 8 Plus, a couple hundred more wouldn’t had broken my bank.
I would like to correct one thing though, 8, 8 Plus, and X were all announced the same day. They are all the latest and greatest.

True. X is the latest and the 8 Plus is the greatest for me and countless users. So before you even try dropping your X-loving BS on me with some blanket statement, accept the fact that not everyone agrees with you. I can drop many reasons why I feel the 8 Plus is a better, more refined device if you want to go there with me. But let’s save the banter, shall we?

Everyone has their choice but for me if I’m to spend the money I will get the latest and greatest. I don’t mind spend a little bit more to be in the cutting edge.
Some of yall need to take a step back and just enjoy what you have and stop worrying about how others choose to spend their money. whats good for one person isnt necessarily good for another.

Some interesting debate going on here! All I can say is to judge someone who has an 8 as being 'poorer' is pretty judgemental.
I purchased the iPhone 8 late September (upgrading from 6+) because I "needed" a new phone. Would I have got the X had it been available then? More than likely, yes! Cost was not an issue.
Being an iPhone 8 owner, I'd easily say that the X is a nicer phone. But at the same time, am really enjoying my iPhone 8 as it is lightning fast, has a great 4k camera and wireless charging.
And looking forward to the X2 / XS (?) is whatever it is called next year.

Me too. I like the 4.7” form factor and definitely want to wait till next year’s version of the X to get that one. My 8 is a little snappy beast and it does what I need it to do.

1. Slightly larger version
2. Upgraded faceID
3. Additional color options
4. Better camera
5. Possible stronger screen
6. Brighter screen (nits)
7. Hoping for an Increased PPI, as the iPhone 8+ has more PPI than the iPhone 8.
8. Possible IP 68 over the IP 67 water resistant rating
And of course the upgraded CPU and GPU

I upgraded from a 6+ to an 8+ and love this phone. I hope to keep it for at least 3 years if not longer. The biggest improvement for me from the 6+ is the camera. While there are slight advantages in the X zoom camera they weren't signifigant enough for me to want them. Currently there are a lot of great phones out there in the marketplace and Apple just happens to make a few of them.
