How anyone would spend money on the same phone that’s been out for 4 years now with just upgraded internals beats me. It’s stunning that people can even defend the 8 because for just a few hundred more you could get the X.
So for a few hundred dollars more I could get:
- a phone as narrow as the 4.7” with wasted space everywhere
- tiny letter boxed movies in landscape when using the popular 16:9 aspect ratio
- Face ID that I was able to prove unusable in many instances where Touch ID worked
- a more yellow hued screen
- smaller keyboard
- smaller pictures and video playback in portrait mode because of the narrow screen
- full of apps not optimized for the new aspect ratio
- Animojis (my bad I’m not 12 years old)
- the same internals as the 8 Plus
- damn near same side bezels as the 8 Plus
- no bottom bezel but aha, look at how the keyboard sits atop all that wasted screen space. May as well have a bezel
- no top bezel, just a horrific notch that blocks content time be time again
- takes extra steps to do things such as wanting to see if your WiFi or Bluetooth Is indeed on, or check battery percentage, or just get to your home screen from a locked state
- many people don’t give a sh*t about design over functionality. Want to be shallow and judge my worth? Look at my house or car. While one might be impressed, neither define me nor does the design of my phone.
- we can keep going, just let me know...
