I’m chuckling at how hard you are working to rationalize your last-gen device. This is really good, you’ve done well!
Nah, you're not chuckling. You are sitting there going man, this guy really knows what he is talking about. He went out and bought the best phone for him, because he feels it is the best phone iPhone Apple has to offer, and hasn't taken to the forums to try and justify his purchase.
Enjoy your phone kid. After all it is your hard earned, or not hard earned money, that you spent on it. Oh, by the way, my last generation device?
- Has the same processor as yours
- Has a wider screen than yours
- Has less wasted screen space than yours
- Has an ID system that can be used in more situations
- Won't get burn-in (as Apple themselves acknowledged to)
- Has the same main rear facing camera
- Doesn't have OIS on the telephoto lens, yet, doesn't seem to lack either
- Has the same GB ram
- Has more accurate colors
- Already has been shown to have superior battery life (doubt me? Google it)
- Doesn't hide content behind an ugly ass notch
- Doesn't crop video when native 16:9 is used
- Doesn't letter-box video or content in landscape
- Has all apps optimized for its screen
- Shows me wifi, battery percentage, and Bluetooth on the main screen
- Doesn't require an extra step to get to the home page
- Doesn't have screen color variation from angles
- Has the same 25% louder speakers
- Has the same level of water resistence
- Doesn't do animojis, but then again, I am not a 13 year old girl
- Doesn't hide content behind a home bar (in both landscape and portrait modes)
- Doesn't make everything look tiny in portrait mode because it is skinny
- Doesn't have a tiny keyboard for tiny hands
- Oh, and though I am considered wealthy by most standards today, cost me $200 less to have all of the above.
So laugh away genius. Welcome to the world of "hey everybody! look at my shiny new X that, ummm, well, its an X dammit!!"

Primary reason is the display. The 5.5” canvas is just more immersive for the majority of media consumption.
The keyboard is larger. Actually just about everything is larger on the 8+.
The sound from the 8+ speakers is richer, deeper, and less shrill at higher volumes like the X.
The app gap is enormous. Only about 30% of the apps I use are X compatible. Which makes them look like I’m using a 4.7” iPhone. It’s going to take 6 months at least for all apps to be X compatible.
I really don’t like the control center in the top right ear. It just gets in the way having to reach for it all the time.
And here’s a big one. Video cropping. The amount of cropping and zooming you have to endure for full screen on the X is way too high for my tastes or the content is tiny if you run native.

But, But, the X is the flagship!! It doesn't matter if the phone is tiny, or cuts off videos, or wastes screen space, or hides content behind a notch, or has worse speakers, or has a yellow tint, or has apps not ready....IT'S the X!! IT IS THE FUTURE......LMAO
