I didn't notice that the first time I saw the ad. Watched it again and haven't LOL that hard at an ad in quite a long time. That part was brilliant on the part of Samsung.

The Galaxy S7 Edge is hardly old Samsung tech. That phone is from just last year! The Galaxy S8 and Note 8 screens are practically the same. About the same difference as going from a 7 Plus to an 8 Plus. Maybe less difference because the 8 Plus at least got true tone.

This is absolutely absurd. Why do people care what iPhone I have. I had the 7 plus and upgraded to the 8 plus and my husband and I have no regrets. Three reasons why we decided on the 8 plus instead of X:
1.We like the screen size of the 5.5, it would be a huge adjustment having to go back down in size.
2. We aren’t sold on Face ID yet, we’ll see after a year.
3. No Blush Gold or Gold color on the X. My husband and I like color, we’re not really a fan of the 2 colors of the X it’s a little stale and boring for us.
Why buy something if your not completely satisfied with it. I feel like too many compromises had to be made in my opinion for me to be satisfied enough with the X.

A top of the line 8 Plus can get pretty close to the base X. I wouldn’t even categorize by price points anymore. We should be glad that Apple has offered various sizes.
Do people with an X have an elitist attitude when they sit next to someone with an 8 Plus? I sure don’t and it’s pretty sad if there are people out there.
We all have different uses and what doesn’t work for others, may work for someone else.

I find it hilarious when people say the 8 plus has old tech compared to the X. The internals are nearly identical!

It's not a factually incorrect statement to say that the 8 plus has old tech. The design can be considered 'tech' and is 4 years old...thus old.
I personally think it's an insult to the vast majority of customers who don't want to shell out a grand to get this outdated design for the fourth year in a row. The displays are not even HDR capable which almost the entirety of Android flagships in this price range support.
Unfortunately now that the X is a success, Apple will no longer develop good phones at the $700 price point and $999 is the base price for a competent flagship next year.

This is the kind of mentality that the tech industry (and the fashion industry, as a matter of fact. There's some overlap in marketing philosophy) fosters in consumers to convince people that they need to buy something new every year when their current product still meets their needs.
Preferring the OLED display or facial scanning features of the X is fine, but there's nothing functionally or technologically inferior, "obsolete", or "outdated" about a design which is essentially also a rounded-edged glass and metal rectangle with a display. It's cosmetic.

What’s that Apple? No 4.7” X? No sale.
Happy with my 8 and if Apple decides to do away with the smaller form factor, I’ll do away with Apple phones. Simple really.

Considering I bought the 256G model and paid almost as much as an X.
Price point isn’t the issue for me. I like 4.7” phones and I don’t like spending money to beta test new tech.

Upon picking up an iPhone 7 Plus, Ive remarked: “It now seems to me a rather disconnected component housed in an enclosure.” A brutally harsh assessment for a device that was just released last year, but ultimately a testament to the game changing design of the iPhone X.

What cracks me up about that is that statement is that Ive made a big deal in the intro video for the iPhone 7 about how the jet black finish made it the first iPhone that felt like a single form. The finish made it so you couldn’t tell were the screen ended and the body began. Amazing how quickly he changed his tune. Of course, Apple is the master of making last year’s device suddenly seem obsolete and worthless. They want you to keep buying!
What’s interesting to me is that’s the X actually feels less like a unified device than the 7. There are more seams (screen and side, side and back vs just screen and casing on the 7). The camera bump also just juts out on the X rather than being more organically sculpted on the 7. Don’t get me wrong, I love my X and would pick it any day over my old 7. But Ive’s comment just smacks of marketing speak.

1) Since the X is brand new technology without having the home button, I didn't want to take a chance and have something go wrong with the device itself. For example this was in the most recent iOS 11 update. It primarily fixed display responsiveness issues on the iPhone X caused by sudden cold temperature.
2) Personally speaking I still like having the home button and how it makes it easier to clear my apps so they don't keep running in the background.
3) The cost would not have been an issue for me because I would have been able to trade in my 6s and would have been given a $240 credit if I wanted to wait for the X. So I used that when getting my 8 Plus.
4) In 2 years when the contract for my 8 Plus is finished I'm sure that there won't be anymore home buttons on future iPhone devices. However until that time I can still go to the Apple Store, play around with the X's they have on display to get use to it.

Same, any Android vs iPhone threads --- I'll stay far away. Even if I try to be fair, I'll respond to someone who gets their post deleted then I'll get a warning or something. So minus this post, I stay far away from all the Android members here who love to ... dangit, I'll stop now.
I specifically went with the 8+ because of the bigger phone, better battery life, and touch id. I came from a 6s+ so I am enjoying the additional camera and wireless charging.
