Anyone check out Apple's website? Ship time has slipped to 2-3 weeks. I hope that isn't why mine went back to processing....

Ordered: October 30th
Prepare for Shipment: Nov 8
Processing (again): Nov 10

4.0Ghz

290X - As an aside, I know most sane people who buy this machine are professionals who need a certain level of graphics performance for video editing, photography, etc. While I game occasionally I'm honestly getting the 5k because I do an insane amount of reading on my computer. The most intensive thing I'll use it for is Plex transcoding and EyeTV recording both of which require processing power over anything else. Am I making a huge mistake in not upgrading the vram?

I've read some good reviews about the gpu you've gone for but you will need to upgrade the ram. I've only read one review that had a negative comment and that was about the basic 8gb ram not being enough.

I've maxed mine out, (except the ram, I'll do that myself) not because I do anything extensive but because I want to future proof it and, most importantly, bragging rights :p

Thanks for the advice. To clarify. I plan on upgrading the RAM, I'll eventually max it out. I meant the video memory. Is the 290x enough if I don't plan on remaking Avatar on my iMac in my living room?

All of the reviews for the new iMac I've read have been with the 290x and all of them were good, even some gaming ones. Not one said anything bad about the gpu.

Let's face it, the 295x is probably overkill for the majority of people buying it including me. I've been making do with a couple of crossfired 5890s for the past 4 or 5 years and they still do everything, incl playing Skyrim with the graphics on the highest setting, with no problems so I'm sure the 290x will be more than adequate.

Thanks! That's what I wanted to know. I probably should have just read those reviews myself but I was fairly confident it was more than enough. I've been using a rMBP for almost a year now and it plays just about everything I'm interested in playing without any problems but everyone here is going with the 295x and it had me spooked.

I worried when I didn't go for top spec with the rMBP, especially the ram, and it's fine.

No regrets and no issues even 2 years later.

According to UPS, my Retina left Shanghai at 8:50p on 11/11 and arrived in Anchorage on the same day at 11:53a....

That's right folks... Apple is able to manipulate time itself!!! :)

(with a little help from the international date line)

Kilofox,

My Mac was on the same plane as yours. Does your tracking show departure scan from Anchorage yet? Mine does not. I'm in So. Cal.

Thanks.

Byrd,

Just checked this AM (12th). It left ANC late last night.

UPS tracking is still showing delivery tomorrow (13th).

I am in Michigan.

Kilo,

Thanks for the info. Mine, too, shows late nite departure from Anchorage. That puts us both on UPS2997, due to land in Louisville at 9:26 A.M. EST. Mine still has to wing its way out west. Tracking still showsThursday delivery for me, but I'm bracing for UPS exception delay til Friday. O well, at least it's moving. Good luck with yours.

Byrd

Ordered a maxed out Retina iMac (4.0 Ghz i7, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 295x)yesterday. Delivery estimate was Dec 4-Dec 10.

Saw a shipping notice this morning and got excited, but then saw it was just for the USB SuperDrive. Figured they would ship it all together but that's cool, I have a Retina MBP that could make use of the SuperDrive in the meantime.

I Ordered My Retina iMac High End What did you get?

Ordered mine on the 30th and it went into preparing for shipment last sunday but now it's back to processing. :S It supposed to be delivered between the 17th and 20th.

Exact same thing here..I guess it'll be a Xmas gift to myself.

Lets hope that to not be the case. :/ It was supposed to be sent within 7-10 working days and tomorrow will be the 10th. *Fingers crossed*.

Wonder then the Anand review will be up... all the overheating/throttling talk about the M295X has me worried.

Reading through that thread it seems that all of the throttling issues are when running games in Windows, in OSX their fine.

Decent drivers for GPUs in macs are always slow to appear for Windows (I remember the fun I had with Windows applications when the rMBP first came out). Me not worried.

I'm in the uk too and ordered on 30th and till processing...

I went for the i7, 1tb ssd, M295x and 16gb ram, I will buy the other 2 x 8gb from crucial.

I've got a WD 8TB My Book Thunderbolt Duo on it's way for ext storage ready to sit next to my WD 8TB My Cloud Mirror

I went for exactly the same build as you. Ordered on the 28th, financing cleared on the 29th, and it has said 7-10 days until available to ship from the start. My deliver date is 13th to 16th, but I have yet to see the status move from "Processing Items". And I've been checking it a lot...

I'm in Japan.

I'm beginning to wonder if they have run out of 1TB SSDs or something.

My deliver date is 17th to 20th.

Perhaps more people have maxed their specs out this time round and Apple under estimated the stock they needed? Normally I wouldn't dream of paying so much but they actually seemed quite good value for money this time round.

I am another ordered on the 30th and delivers Nov 17 - 20. It has also gone back to processing but was at preparing to ship I think since Saturday.

Got i7, 256SSD and 295x.

Same here. I got the i7, 3TB, 290x, VESA mount. As I stated above mine went back to processing but I ordered on the 30th and with expedited shipping the delivery window is Nov 13-18. I can't imagine it will come before the 18th.

Anyone tried calling Apple yet, it sounds like a ton of iMacs (including mine) went from Preparing back to processing? My date is 14th-19th for delivery.
