No slip as yet....11/2 order for I7/8gb 295 512 still shows "Processing" with "Delivers: Nov 19 - Nov 24 by Standard Shipping".

And this just in....saga continues!

Due to an unexpected delay, we now anticipate shipping the following
item(s) as follows:

Z0QX, IMAC 27"/QC/
Ships by 5-7 business days
Delivers by Dec 3 - Dec 5

I just wonder what will happen when November 23rd gets here. My second estimated arrival date range is Nov 23 - 28. It seems that most people get the notification of delay on or around the first date in this range. If I get a delay on the 23rd, it will be most discouraging.

Well I decided to cancel my order. I got nervous reading about some of the heat issues. While I would have been covered with Applecare, I didn't have a need to be on the bleeding edge of technology. My current computer is working just fine, and I can wait a while until they have more of a track record with the 5k to make the PC to Mac switch.

I'm not letting the heating issue thing worry me. The majority (if not all) of the reports are from games or powerful apps that are being run in windows. When microsoft get some drivers for the card written the issues will be fixed. It was the same when the rMBP came out.

I went back through the thread and assembled all the data for orders made on the 28th of October or later into a spreadsheet.

Hold up —*I also notice that all these machines have the i7 and the M295X. If I'm not mistaken, no one has posted in this thread having ordered the i5 or the M290X. It could be that one or both of these are the bottleneck.

I ordered one. I tried to update the spreadsheet with my data, but I guess that's not permitted. So, for the same of completeness:

Location: Canada

i5, 8GIG, 512GB SSD, M295X

As of this post, it's still in the processing state, with expected delivery unchanged at Nov. 21-26 (Standard shipping)

Thanks — yours is definitely one to watch, since this is the first i5 anyone has mentioned in a delayed order. If your order ships on time, it could be an indication that the i7 is what's holding things up. Or if it's delayed, it could point to the M295X. Or of course it could be something totally unrelated...

Please let us know how it goes. Here's hoping it ships on schedule.

Actually, I am seeing 3 potential reasons for the current delays in shipment:

Option 1: Apple wants to avoid that the market is being flooded with used 2013 iMacs just before X-Mas, so they are holding back shipments to harvest more revenue from those, who are looking for something different than the iMac 5k. Would be clever revenue-boosting, but still unlikely though.

Option 2: There is really something wrong in the design (especially when it Comes to heat and fan usage) and Apple is trying to fix it before the majority of the units is being produced and shipped. Also not the most realistic scenario

Option 3: Apple underestimated the demand for this, according to their words, specialized product and has issues in component supply.

Option 3 sounds most realistic to me...

How do you think I feel? In two days it will be exactly a month since I ordered mine.

Thats one of the bonuses with that spreadsheet that someone knocked up. I can see that its pointless stressing as some have waited a good while longer than me.

Sadly theres not many who have waited longer than you... bad timing or what

Where are you based?

I cancelled my order anyways due to delay and re-ordered an i7, 295x, 512gb ssd! The wait is on. Perfect configuration in my opinion can't wait to get it dec 9-12th.

I have to admit that even though I've done loads of moaning etc I still can't wait and cancelling is the furthest thing from my mind. I've wanted an imac for so long and never get tired of admiring its design. It's going to look so much sexier on my desk than the black box/tower sitting on my desk at the mo.

I feel like a kid waiting for christmas. I just wish we had some concrete news so we knew what is happening so I can get on with some work rather than trawling the internet for snippets of news for a glimmer of hope.

I've got to stop reading rImac reviews too, I feel like I know the machine intimately even though I've never seen one in the flesh.

I actually saw a base model in a local shop last weekend. The screen is just what I expected. But the thing is, the machine had almost nothing to show it off — there were some nice high resolution wallpapers, but that's it. Not even HD video. So while I've seen and played around with it, it didn't really make me feel any better. I need to get the machine home and set up with my own software and files to really see how it is in action.

Thanks everyone for the updates — I'm keeping things up to date on the spreadsheet. I just finished moving things around so that people are sorted by expected delivery rather than by order date. This way you can easier see what "bracket" you're in, and guess what's going to happen next based on those around and before you.

It seems I have the dubious honour of being near the very top of the list. :( I didn't really realise that until I saw the data.

Nice! Which model did you order? Exciting right?! Worth the wait for me

I ordered the i7, 1tb ssd, 16gb and m295x. I've got 16gb ram sitting on the shelf patiently awaiting it's new home to make it up to 32gb.

All the reviews I've read make me even more sure I've made the right choices. I know some people are going on about the reported problems with the graphics but they all seem to be people complaining about high end games running in Windows so I'm not worried (unless you class Settlers or Anno as high end :p )

What spec you got coming?

Very nice you went all out! I got the i7, 8gb, 295x, 512gb ssd! :)

My delivery date also moved to 1-3 December. I just hope that this wait is worth it and that I don't find any dead pixels floating on my screen.
