My delivery date also moved to 1-3 December. I just hope that this wait is worth it and that I don't find any dead pixels floating on my screen.
Better not be!

I think I'd cry![]()
So a couple of things I read elsewhere: Apparently, there was a big Chinese jewelry smuggling bust that was delaying stuff at the end of September. Then there was the weeklong vacation in China. Then, Apple itself was causing delays for others due to its contracts with shippers for the new iPhone, so I wonder if iPhone shipping is actually delaying iMacs out of China.
I have no idea if any of this is causing the issues we're seeing, but maybe. It's just annoying. I'm not waiting on a shipment, but it's causing me to delay a possible order of a custom iMac to replace my base model.
When she came back, she said that this product has been more popular than they expected, and they are struggling to fulfil orders. She didn't quite say it was a shortage of parts, but that was definitely the implication. She then said that they are making every effort to fulfil orders as quickly as possible.
So that pretty much confirms if its a shortage on parts then it can only be the screen.
How long does it take to ship to the UK. My date got bumped a week so its currently a 26-28th window. I just checked and its STILL in processing?!
When does it have to be shipped to meet this? If it gets moved again Im cancelling.
I think from looking at the lucky ones who got orders in before the 29th. It goes from preparing to ship and then shipped within a day. As for the time to the UK I think it is 4 /5 days, although Apple Customer Sevices told me when i asked for expedited shipping after the delays started that all new products go expedited..... Not sure i believe them. If so this should be quickerDon't suppose that helps any but I keep doing the calendar maths... just to cheer me up
I wouldn't believe the expedited thing either but all I keep thinking is that as each day goes by I'm another day closer to getting it. In a few weeks time we will all be sitting in front of our 5k screens with big grins on our faces, Apple will be forgiven (because we always forgive them) and this forum thread will be a distant memory.
How right you are.. What's another week. Patience maybe a virtue, but at this point cannot help being impatient![]()
Has anyone actually taken delivery of a riMac recently?
I'm getting the impression that this is not just a delay because they can't get them out fast enough to satisfy the amount of orders, but is a complete halt to deliveries altogether - which suggests a hardware problem of some sort.
If this was simply an issue of higher demand than expected, people would still be receiving them as fast as they could make and ship them but that appears not to be the case.
It seems that the last lot to actually receive their order were those that ordered on 29th October.
I ordered the retina iMac maxed out cpu, 4g video ram, 512 ssd when I got the machine on a clean system I noticed problems like windows of browsers lagging and so on the bench tests I ran were OK but I really do think the GPU's are at their limit now they showed signs of lagging not something you expect in a new system, anyway within three days it had frozen on me 3 times, wouldn't shut down properly (black screen but cursor still visible and moving). Then applications refused to load I couldn't even see screen shots in preview I had to use a browser so I returned it and will be waiting for the next revision.
I must say when it was working it was a beautiful screen and did run ok although I was expecting a little more from the benchmarks I ran I suspect the 5K screen is very taxing at the moment.
I hope they sort the problems out on the next revision because there are problems trust me.
