Great. Let's hope that Apple was setting worst case expectations with their delay notice so that all customers waiting would be ecstatic to get their Macs "early."

I've no idea how it works but I'm hoping they continued to build the iMacs and just have a big pile now that need screens fitting and shipping so they can get them out the door quicker

I don't know how they deliver here, it was two years ago I had my last delivery from Apple and can't remember (crikey, I can't remember what I had dinner last night! :p)

I was told by Apple CS it would be UPS or TNT for the UK. Have not looked back on the thread to see if that is true. I think before I can remember Walsh Western !! That was for an ipad so whether that makes a difference. Will try the account sign up thingy sounds like a good one.

Good news that we are seeing some movements...

For the record not in my support profile yet. I believe the Apple Care goes live from date of despatch so that might be relevant

So that was despatched 3 weeks ago for me and received a little book. Are we sure that it doesnt kick in until the RiMac has been sent out? I dont want to lose close to a month worths of cover.

I have only gone for the initial 90 days telephone support and will consider taking the full apple care in the next few eeks etc. I was told the date of despatch of the machine would be the date that all the timings would run from whether or not i was just looking at 90 days or 3 years. I suppose that makes sense as like you with these delays you don't want to lose out on best part of a months cover.

Is there anything in your support profile because surely that woudl give you a start date and available options etc. ?

Just checked, no iMac or Apple Care in there yet. Should they be?

Oh, sign up for a FedEx account or whatever shipper they use in your country. I did NOT get a shipping notice from Apple. I got it from my FedEx account which monitors all shipments to my address.

So to confirm... Your order status still says Preparing for Shipment, but your FedEx account shows that in fact it has already been shipped. Is that right?

Do you know when your status changed from Processing Items?

We could infer from this that the mass change of statuses to Preparing for Shipment today may in fact mean that lots of orders have already been shipped...

Don't say things like that, it's bad enough I keep constantly refreshing the apple orders page, support page, this page and send/receive on my emails without starting to run to the window every time I hear a van outside

Right there with you, except for the last bit. For now, anyway. Give it a few days, though... ;)

Since things seem to be moving once again, I've got back some motivation to continue cleaning out my old desktop PC. :)

I've only just picked up all my toys after throwing them out of my pram after speaking to apple and now I'm going to end up throwing them all out again.

 where is my sodding imac?

Tracking link works now too... UPS for the UK

Apple site now says 25th for delivery but UPS says...

Wednesday, 26/11/2014, By End of Day
Last Location:
Shanghai, China, Thursday, 20/11/2014

Happy either way after all this

I'm being punished, I know I am. I can imagine the scene at apple...

'put any complainers to the back of the queue, that tatty27 especially, she's a proper pain in the ass...'

tatty27, you said your status never went back to Processing Items, right? But you are undoubtedly early in the queue of backlogged orders, so you have nothing to worry about. It's looking like they're working through orders in a pretty random way, which to me suggests that they have enough machines to fill a lot of orders.

Fingers crossed that you get that "Dispatched!" notice soon. :apple:

I'm wondering if your status didn't change back then maybe it didn't change again and has actually shipped?

Would be pretty damn unfair if yours wasn't towards the front of the queue

I wish I could remember how long my MacBook Pro took to arrive two years ago. Japan is pretty close to China, so you'd have thought it would be pretty quick. Monday is a national holiday here, so it would be wonderful it could come by then. My current estimate is 23rd to 28th, with Monday being the 24th...

Here's hoping. It would be nice if you had a day off to play with your new toy :)

It could be because I got mine on finance

So did I. For me, the order didn't finalise until the financing (background check or whatever) passed. So even though I ordered on the 28th, my order didn't join the queue until late on the 29th —*or possibly later, though I remember it changing to Processing Items on the evening of the 29th.

Despite this, my delivery dates didn't change, so I guess they were always a little out.

In any case, once the order changes to Processing Items it means that your payment (finance or otherwise) has passed, and the order is in the queue.

Please let us know how it goes. Here's hoping it ships on schedule.

So, here's some weirdness by way of update to my order:

This morning, I woke up, checked the status and it had moved from "Processing" to "Preparing to Ship", but the delivery date had slipped from Nov 21-26, to Dec 5-10. Well, crap.

Then a half hour later, I got the official email from Apple telling me that there were "unexpected delays" and that I'd get my stuff two weeks later than they promised. Well, crap, confirmed.

Then just now I get an iMessage saying that the order had shipped! Wha????

So I go to the status screen, and sure enough, there's a shipping number. I click the link and am informed that it's in the hands of UPS, in Shanghai at the moment, and the estimated delivery date is Nov 26. So, Yay!!

I tell you, it's a rollercoaster....
