‘It should be if he did even rudimentary research before buying. I don’t know if they do, but Apple should institute a restocking fee when people return one phone for a completely different one. Would help eliminate the tire-kickers and lazy buyers.
In California they had a restocking fee, once you open and activate the iPhone, and if you pay with cash you'll receive a check after a week or so.

I may be in the minority here, but I actually felt that the matte coating on my iPhone 11 Pro felt super cheap and that the glass on the iPhone 11 felt more premium. Not to mention the glass is a lot grippier and more practical.

The stainless steel sides on the Pro models also felt cheap to me. Are they stronger than aluminum? - Sure. Does that imply quality or innovation? - No. Quite the opposite. Seems like a cheap fix to prevent another flexgate.

And what's with the tacky chrome paint on the steel sides? - That looks terrible IMO.

Yes, so many people are buying multiple phones just to test them out and then returning. Then others wonder why they can't find what they want anywhere...well, because people are buying 2 or 3 phones at once and then returning 2 later. smh

I don't think it's a lot of people. It might seem like it when you read forums, but most people will never bother with forums or buy multiple phones. The people who do want to frequent a site like this would be much more likely to do something like this.

Well until Apple provides a consistent finished product without so much variance or changes their return policy people are within their rights to buy and return their devices. How else is Apple gonna get those refurbished counts higher?

I had the Xr for 8 months this year, now the 11 pro. If you say you can't tell the difference between the oled and lcd it's time for a eye check..

Id love to know what display Technology that you don’t have to play the lottery with ?

perfect doesn’t exist in any kind of panel..

There are $2,000 dollar gaming monitors right now that you must buy and return until you get good enough..

the same thing is in phones, or iPad.

companies sell laptops and offer dead pixel light bleed or IPS binning as a extra option that charges another $100 bucks!

All of these issues comes from premium brands, and premium companies.

so why are people trying to single out Apple Over issues with panels that have existed for years and years...

if you wanna be picky and OCD then good damn luck!

seriously! I can always find flaws in LCD screens. Shadows in the corners, uneven brightness, not to mention they cannot show the color black at all.

I don’t even know why people say that.

I also think that if people pick both the 11 and the Pro up together and immediately marvel at just HOW MUCH BETTER the screen is, then they also need an eye test.
The LCD Apple uses is fantastic.

I bet if those with iPad Pro’s heard someone say the latest Samsung tablet OLED is incredible and owns the iPad Pro screen, they’d be jumping to the defence of the LCD. 😂

I can absolutely tell the difference between LCD and OLED on the 11 and Pro, respectively. In my case, the LCD on the 11 is superior. The review I linked earlier even notes that in their samples the 11 was more color accurate than the Pro.

White is white. Colors still pop. True Tone works as it should, i.e., screen doesn’t turn piss yellow with it enabled. There’s no low light gray non-uniformity. There’s no color shift. There’s no PWM. Black looks pretty black to me (Messages, mail apps, etc.).

I’d probably have kept my original Pro had my earpiece speaker not made clipping / rattling noises during phone calls. Apple is intentionally making the OLED screen white point warmer and it’s very annoying to me. No energy for the lottery this year. Glad I tried the 11, surprised I like it so much.

I took at the different screens at the score today. I fully expected the 11 screen to be a grayish black in 'Dark Mode' It's black was as close enought to my my X. That pretty much sealed it for me. I think as consumers we can get caught up in specs, but the LCD screen was fantastic.

Ordering my 11 to replace it. Worst case, I keep it for a year and trade it in on the new model next year.

For the people that have had or still have a Pro model, if you turn off True Tone does the screen look better (lose the yellow tint) and the whites become white, or doesn't it make a difference?

That is correct, definitely makes a difference. Apple hasn't corrected this issue with True Tone since the release of iPhone X. I've kept it off since then because the colors just do not look right at all.

If you turn off True Tone the yellow caste switches to a cooler white. Basically if I have True Tone off on my iPhone 11 pro and True Tone on for my iPad pro then the colour is reasonably close.

I was comparing my Pro Max to the 11 side by side in Best Buy today. The lighting there is different than in the Apple Store so I considered a more neutral playground. One thing that did throw me off was how much brighter my Pro Max got compared to the 11. I know the PM reaches 800 nits in normal situations nearly 900 nits on the home screen depending on wallpaper compared to 625 nits on the 11. That stood out to me more than the color gamut or resolution. I really wish the 11 could reach the same brightness level. Not a knock, just a personal preference.

I've got the 11 PRO and I've had MASSIVE issues with it.
I have swapped my iPhone Pro 3 times @ Apple due to the LTE/4G issues with the 11 PRO.

Good to know, thank you.

I agree. My Toyota also looks and feels more premium than my uncle’s Ferrari.

Stick with it, you will adjust. 11 is a downgrade from Pro.
Yeah, it's a $300 in your pocket downgrade. The ONLY advantage I see with the Pro is a slightly smaller form factor. I've had the X and the XS which I liked better for the size, but this year I went with the 11, mainly because of the reduced price. Yeah, I don't have the 3 len format, but that's fine with me.

With the latest lineup of iPads and iPhones, Apple is clearly defining their segmentation as the price difference between the Pro and regular models are quite wide with minimal difference. Considering even the iPhone 11 has the same A13, amount of RAM, and even IP68 rating, Apple literally wants everyone to buy this model, keeping the 11 Pro as the ultra premium segment only for select few.

The only thing remaining is a smaller form factor for the non Pro lineup iPhone, and looks like Apple is going to remedy that early next year.

It may be iOS 13 not your phone(s). I have issues with my 11 on Verizon. Happens when I connect to CarPlay, I will lose VoLTE and calls will revert to 1X, Siri won’t work, iMessages won’t go through. Google maps borks out. I need to restart the phone and then it goes back to normal. This happened on the Pro I had as well.

Browsing the MR iOS forum there appear to be a lot of bugs in iOS 13 so just be patient and hope Apple will address them? For $1000, shouldn’t be major bugs, but is what it is for now.

I don’t know about that statement. Because there’s even YouTube tests showing average consumers the difference between LCD and OLED, and they couldn’t differentiate between the two technologies. So what’s my point? If you know what to look for specifically, you can differentiate the difference between LCD and OLED, but for the average consumer, do you think they truly know what to look for? I don’t they do. Maybe us ‘techies’ are more educated on these differentiations.
