What will I do if the Ipad 3 is refreshed....

I will shrug my sholders and say "thats nice" and go and find an entertaining iphone thread to read..

If the refresh is what I thought (new screen, less backlight, smaller battery, replace LTE chip with Qcom one used in Iphone 5, new lightening connector.. Thinner/lighter 1.5lb to 1lb (??) and much cheaper to manufacturing), I may trade in my Ipad 3 and buy the new one or buy an Ipad mini... Ipad 3 has the worst gross margin of all Apple device because of the backlight, screen, LTE chip and battery size. If Apple do a refresh, it is to save them money and create a better tablet in the process.. Notice the new generation of Amazon and Nook tablet all are lighter weight and retina (yes with small screen)..

If they refresh wait until feb, then swap it out for a refurbed refreshed ipad 3, lol

Might be an idea;P

We aren't going to see an iPad refresh at this point. They'll update it in the spring as usual.

I think you will see a refresh mate due to the fact that they want to phase the old dock connector out completely and take orders for the screens away from samsuck...

Logic supports it as well as inside info on a mysterious iPad 3,6 with an A6 processor;)

We will know more this time on the 23rd;) Until then this is all speculation and opinion;)

If they refresh the iPad 3, I would be stuck deciding on whether to jump on it or go for the Mini. If the Mini doesn't have Retina, then I would get the iPad 3 refresh hands down!

Why wouldn't the mini have Retina? Every other Apple device other than the iPod Nano is going that direction. Makes it much easier for developers if all devices feature the same high resolution.

I would think the mini will have retina plus a A6 chip, i cant see Apple ever making a "budget" product... The only thing that will make it cheaper is the smaller screen. But we have already seen IGZO tech that can get retina PPI @7.85 inches...

When the iPod touch 3rd gen was announced (no camera) there were rumors that an updated iPod with camera will release shortly after...

Point being, this isn't Samsung or HTC. They won't release a slight update a few months after.

Will you try to return the iPad 3 to Apple? It's not unheard of that Apple takes returns for items well over the return period. I once returned a MacBook Pro 13" months (about 3 months) after I purchased it because I complained that I had to strain to see the screen and this gave me a headache (it really did). They happily took it back no further questions asked. It was overall a very pleasant experience. I later went on to buy a 2011 Air 13" a month or so later so I was very grateful for the excellent customer service.

Anyway, will anyone try? Will anyone sell and then buy the refreshed iPad? Will anyone be upset? I'm just curious.

If it's something minor, like the 30 pin is switched out for the Lightning connector, I don't think I'd be terribly upset.

But if it's a major refresh... like IZGO display, thinner, lighter, Lightning connector and maybe better battery... I think I'd be pretty upset I picked up an iPad 3. I know I'll get a lot of "the iPad 3 will still works fine" retorts, but anyone else?
What will I do? Nothing. At least for now. I am more interested in the iPad mini than an iPad 3.5 right now.

I don't expect a retina display on the mini, so I'm sad to lose that, but very happy to gain some increased portability.

My iPad's box is sitting next to me. I'll have 42 more hours before it goes back to the store (Sunday is the last day that I can return it). I've read enough that shows there will at least be some update. Even if they update it to the new dock connector, it will be worth it for me. I rather have the same connectors on iPad and iPhone. But, they are are going to change the connector, I really think they will make other changes too. Then I will settle in and have that one for awhile.

I'll probably still keep my iPad 16GB 4G model, due to the drop in resale value. I might opt to get a Mini with lightning than go the 9 inch model again.

I will be interested in an iPad mini someday into the future, but my iPad 3 is working just fine as is. I'm still on 5.1 that the iPad came with an see no need to upgrade or refresh.

I've recently decided that I want to get my first iPad in the near future but now is clearly not the time to buy. If the Mini is VERY compelling, and by that I mean has a retina screen and is competitively priced, then I might jump on that. Otherwise I'm waiting for the iPad 4.. UNLESS they do reboot the iPad 3 and thus probably NOT release a 4 until late next year.. it's all just speculation until tuesday.

I wish the refresh was sooner than later.. I'm holding out for the lightning connector since i just bought my iphone 5...

that's good news indeed! now... looking ahead to 2013 where the next gen ipad will be introduced... i would guess, there will be a quad-core cpu and nfc probably.

nano SIM

I would really like an update that switches to the nano SIM.

When I had an android phone I used to switch the sim between that and my iPad all the time. I have a Verizon unlimited data plan and enjoy using it on the iPad as well as the free mobile hotspot feature.

Now that I have an iPhone 5 swapping the SIM is more of a pain. I did get a pack of little adapters, but they are so small and frail that I've gone through two already and am always kind of afraid that its not going to come out of the iPad in one piece.

Any other updates would be nice to have but if it doesnt go along with having a nano SIM then I'll probably pass.

If they revamp the ipad 3 then I bet it'll just have the lightning port.

The ipad 3 is no slouch, I'm not seeing any of these slow laggy issues. After watching iphone 5 vs ipad 3 comparison videos theres barely a difference in speed and wasn't enough to convince me to get an iphone 5.

If you were to upgrade to this new revamped ipad, what will you do in march when your 5 month ipad will already be outdated? Imo atleast keep what you've bought for a year. I'll prob not upgrade until it nolonger receives ios updates or un till the ipad 5.

My criterion for upgrade: the new A6X chip. No new chip, no upgrade.

In case the A6X made its way to the release this time, I doubt there will be a new release next March.
