I don't write such long and involved emails to execs in the company that I work for let alone taking this much time to write to strangers.
Don't people have jobs anymore?
Don't people have jobs anymore?
But those customers most likely ordered a completely different model number? Did you want Apple to hold off on orders they could unexpectedly fulfill and release everything at the same time in the interest of fairness?
If anything this shows that Apple is really working on getting the watch out to people as fast as they can.
As we have seen in the past, Apple is VERY bad at predicting what the popular flavor will be.

Their watch failure is no surprise, especially with eleventy billion different configurations.
This logic of a 15-20 min window doesn't compare, but let's still keep this extreme and stretch it to a busy Super Bowl Sunday pizza order where you get a 2-3 hr delivery timeframe.
If I ordered a pepperoni pizza at 5pm and was to have it delivered between 7-8, and I catch wind that several people who ordered after me with slightly different toppings got theirs right at 7; and I'm sitting around after 7 with still no word then heck yeah I would be upset...
Below is the email I sent yesterday.
Dear Tim & Angela,
"The watch will arrive whenever at this point, the enthusiasm has gone. This is a shared feeling amongst all of us that woke up early April 10 to order our watches within the first 5 minutes of the site going live. Unfortunately we will not share the enthusiasm with those that receive there watches today April 24. Even those folks that received shipping estimates of 4-6 weeks and some for June will get there watches before those like myself that received shipping estimates of 4/24-5/8. It is a sad day for me because I always receive my wonderful Apple products on launch day, have not missed one since the iphone 3GS. What has myself and thousands of others so upset about this launch is not the delivery windows and not even so much as not receiving our watches today, it is the lack of transparency with your loyal customers. The mass vague email sent to us (see below) that we are working on your order is a sad attempt at customer service to your loyal customers.
I think the letter to your loyal customers should have read something like this. A bit more personal to us depending on the model watch ordered.
Dear Martin , We are terribly sorry but we will not be able to fulfill your apple watch order and therefor it will not be delivered on April 24th. We have been under constraints with manufacturing the stainless steel model with the black sport band. We will do our best to get you your watch ASAP, but at the very least no later then May 8th. Again we are terribly sorry. Thank you for being a loyal Apple customer. Sincerely, Apple Store. Something like this, instead of telling me what I already know and to go watch videos.
Being transparent, and honest with customers goes a long way. Had I and many would have received an email like this, we most likely would have felt, Apple is sorry we know they are working hard to get our orders out as quickly as they can, I will happily wait 2 (in my case) more weeks or even a month or more for most customers.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I cant wait to receive my 42mm Stainless Steel watch with the black sport band. Though there was a hiccup in this product launch of a new device and category for Apple, I will always be a loyal customer. Please just be more transparent with us.
Dear Martin,
Your Apple Watch will be delivered between April 24th and May 8th. When your order ships, we'll send you an email with a specific delivery date and tracking information.
To help you get started and learn about the amazing things you can do with Apple Watch, please see our Guided Tour videos.
Apple Watch requires iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, or iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 8.2 or later. Please take a moment to check that your iPhone is up to date.
Thank you for choosing Apple.
Sincerely,
Apple Store
Yes I would have liked to know that I could have a watch on launch day even if the band was white instead of black. Why? Because Apple is taking them back for exchange.
I chose the SS 42mm BSB because it was the cheapest SS config. I plan to buy other 3rd party straps later.
So that's like me buying a pepperoni pizza because pizza parties typically never run out of that. And if they did, I sure as hell would like them to tell me ahead of time.
I have just sent this to Tim. I think Angela is part of the problem frankly so I don't think I will send it to her. I've never before felt this let down by Apple and it's worrying me for their future..
Dear Tim,
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I currently have a MacBook 1.3GHz and two Apple watches on order. One watch for me, a Steel black link or SBL (as it shall henceforth be known as if anything needs an acronym, it's that watch) and a sport with blue band for my son. The sport was supposed to be delivered last night but wasn't, I won't bore you with the details of that painful experience..
I'm not really bothered about the time it's going to take my SBL to arrive, or the lack of information from Apple about why that exact combination is taking so long. (though that is a little disappointing)
What really worries me and has caused me to write my first email to a CEO over in twenty years of being a "consumer" in my own right, is that Apple seem to be changing the way they do business with their customers.. Your retail stores are no longer the centre of everything.. With the launch of the watch and the new MacBook (which you can't even see in UK retail stores) you are pretty much removing the stores from the equation of product fulfilment of your newest products. In the UK we are unable to get things delivered to the stores for pickup anymore. Indeed, the only options I had for all three of my recent purchases were either delivery to my home address or to local pickup points.. Those being a newsagent I have never been into, small post offices or a local petrol station. I don't really want the best part of £3,000 worth of product pushed into in a locker in a petrol station carpark or handed to a newsagent to "store" for me in a tiny back room amongst all the other stock they have..
Where is the Magic in this? Where are the blue shirted smiley faces of your retail staff clapping the first owners who walk in to pick up their pre-ordered watch, who can share and help in the delight we feel as we first put on and switch on that gleaming hunk of steel and sapphire or unwrap that piece of amazing design and glorious miniaturisation that is the new macbook..
No, these days you are making me either sit at home all day feeling miserable and apprehensive about having to rely on the UK's most unreliable of industries or stand in a line in a post office behind people collecting their welfare/benefits, collecting my "lifestyle" products and trying to get out of the store as quickly as possible without anyone seeing me.. I'm not collecting 5 kilo's of heroin, yet in this scenario I'd probably rather be caught carrying that out of the shop by the people in it!
This is a slippery slope, Tim, please realise that and get off it as quickly as possible. I love the magic and theatre of an Apple Store. The helpfulness of your staff and feeling you get knowing that everyone around you at that point feels the way you do and is as excited as you are.. With these purchases that's just gone.. I am probably going to cancel my other two orders until I can either buy them in store or online with in-store pick up. I really want both but after my recent experience with how Apple ships product, I am not sure I will get them in one piece..
Please, bring back the magic! Thanks in advance,
Kind regards,

Talk about hyperbole. I guess you never order anything from Amazon then?
I'm sure if you ordered pizza you don't NEED to eat at the moment...just like we don't NEED an Apple watch at the moment. There's a difference between food and an electronic gadget. People need to eat. It blows my mind that someone would order a configuration they don't want just because they HAVE to have something on a certain day. And if enough people did that then THAT configuration would quickly sell out and people would have a delay on something they didn't really want.
OP,
For starters, you use the words everyone and thousands. You do not represent everyone's views nor do you represent thousands of people. I assure you, your sentiments are your own and 99% of humanity does not feel the same way that you do about the launch of the Apple Watch.
If you're going to try and communicate with the CEO of one of the top companies in the world, it would serve you well to check your spelling before sending your email.

I'd say this forum is a good judge for what watches have shipped so far based on it's patrons and the subject matter.
Because 4/24 was part of the delivery range but none have been delivered, in essence the range should start when the first delivery can be made.
----------
Like I said above, then 4/24 should not have been part of the delivery range when ordering, it's as simple as that.
I'd say this forum is a good judge for what watches have shipped so far based on it's patrons and the subject matter.
Also wrote an email similar to this. While I'am disappointed that my order is arriving in 4-6 weeks after 3 minutes of the preorder going live. I'm more disappointed with the way Apple is changing the way due business as well. I would have loved in store pickup for the Watch. I miss the old style launches, talking all things Apple with people in line, the good old days ya know...
That's what my email was about. I never heard anything back, I don't expect to either.
If none of them were delivered on 4/24, what exactly is it that lots of us got from UPS yesterday?
No, it does not. Members of MacRumors are not randomly sampled by the population that ordered the watch. Rather, they deliberately decide to post on this forum, which definitely skews the representativeness of the sample.
No conclusion can be made based on whatever people post over here.
