iMac shipping times

Mine said exactly the same thing, only it delivered a week earlier (Monday 7th). Ignore what Apple says - it said mine wouldn't have delivered until Monday 14th, and still seems to think it hasn't been delivered - despite the fact it's been sitting on my desk for nearly a week. Trust UPS' website.
 
I ordered my iMac 27" one week before apple announced the hardware upgrade... But because the delivery time of 3-4 weeks for customized iMacs, I was able to ask apple to ship the latest iMac. Only problem I'm having to wait longer... It's supposed to be delivered oct/17-24...
Initially I ordered this machine: i7 3.4Ghz, 8gb ram, 1tb fusion drive, gtx680mx 2gb ddr5.

And changed to this: i7 3.5Ghz, 8gb ram, 1tb fusion drive, gtx780m 4gb ddr5.

I'm planning to buy this memory later: Crucial CT2C8G3S160BM, 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3-12800) CL11 SODIMM 204-Pin 1.35V/1.5V

Still no change on mine, processing and delivery 16th-18th.

It really looks like a random lottery that Apple do with this I think, or could it be that the shortage of fusion drives i've read about is affecting things?

I ordered one this morning and estimated delivery date is November 7-11 (and that's with express shipping) :-( this is a joke
 
Is yours a BTO? Mine was a 27 i5 3.4, but only differences was adding the fusion drive and upping the gfx to the 780m, apart from that its nothing different. The only reasons I can muster is that its either something to do with ordering with a HE discount, although I doubt it as it gave the same delivery dates as others who ordered normally, or its purely down to the fusion drive shortage.

Did you order with a fusion drive?

I only added a 3tb fusion drive. But I also ordered with HE discount

I think it will be Tuesday tho, cos i phoned UPS and they said it would be Tuesday too......just weird that their online tracking website STILL says on schedule for monday.......dunno what's going on there......maybe it means it's on schedule for delivery to my local depot on Monday for it to be delivered to me Tuesday?

I don't really care either way personally, just don't wanna ask my missus to stay in all day Monday if it doesn't turn up lol
 
Looking at the Apple Store just now, says 24hr shipping for standard specs, adding a fusion drive it says 3-5 business days and adding the 780m gives 7-10 days, looks like alot are having the 780m I think!

Mine is on it's 5th business day and it said 5-7 so i'd expect it shipped early next week at the latest.

Missed my delivery yesterday :(. But will be picking up today after work at FedEx. So a total of 6 days from order to get to my hands(later this afternoon.)

Yay!!!
 
Well still no change on my imac order today, Monday will be the 6th business day so hopefully it will ship on Tuesday at the latest.

I ordered a gold 32gb iphone 5s for the wife on the same day last week, was a separate order, that has changed to dispatch 24th-28th October and delivery 4th November, ouch!

Hey Eddy,

Just curious on something. You said Apple upgraded you to overnight, do you know what kind of overnight it was? The tracking might tell you. Just wondering if it was Priority Overnight or Standard Overnight. Any help is appreciated! :)

Urgh its been almost 6 hrs and the order status site still says preparing for shipment. I did call the 800 number and when I gave the order number the automated voice said it was prepared for shipment dunno if thats good as the online status checker still says preparing for shipment... Oh the suspense is killing me lol

been researching online about Apple shipping but I can't seem to find for sure if they use Fedex Priority Overnight or Fedex Standard Overnight... Priority Overnight might deliver on Sat otherwise mon :-/
 
Shipped! It's scheduled for Monday. If it makes it to my local fedex tomorrow before it closes maybe I'll see if they will let me have it. Anyone tried this before?

I've been making the rounds with Apple and FedEx today about a package that's supposed to deliver on Monday but will probably make it to my city tonight and there just isn't any way to pick it up on Saturday.

Apple will request a reroute or hold, but FedEx told me that they work with skeleton crews on Saturdays, and that they wouldn't have the manpower to track down my package amongst their freight and bring it to a local facility for pickup.
 
It will all be worth it! I was on this forum everyday for 2 weeks until I got my new baby on 10/4...

My specs,

3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2X4GB
1TB Fusion Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4GB GDDR5

Upgraded the RAM with OWC (2x8GB) so now I'm running at 24GB RAM. COULDN'T be happier at my decision to go with Fusion. I run FCPX and some Adobe programs and this machine chews right through it! It is so quiet and fast. For those who picked the Fusion, you don't be disappointed.

In hindsight, I might have not maxed out the GPU as it might have pushed me towards the 512 Flash Storage but I'm ok with it. Fusion really gets it done. No problems with video editing and pulling up my media fast! Shocking how I ever worked with out it.

Best of luck to you all and no matter what your specs, you will love this machine!! It is a BEAST!
 
Still no change on my order this morning, it will be exactly one week today since ordering.

Does/can the status change over the weekend or is it likely to change on a business day only? I'm in the UK btw.
 
Thats crazy, i'm assuming all of us UK folks would have our orders dealt with by the same place, it's good that yours was dispatched this morning though, I assumed that with it being a weekend then we wouldn't get any updates until Monday.

There is hope for me yet!!

Is it worth me phoning them? can I even do that?
 
I did think that because when you add the 780m now it gives a 7-10 day desptach, but cperchard ordered his the very same day as I did mine, he had the 780m plus i7 and fusion drive and a load of installed software and his got despatched on Thursday, he is also in the UK.

I think it really is just a lottery with their deliveries.

On a side note, I phoned Apple, spoke to a rather nice american lady who checked it out and couldn't understand why there was a delay, especially as others in the UK with BTO machines have had them despatched already, she did say it would probably be Monday, she said she had a real good feeling it would despatch on Monday, maybe she knows something I don't!! But she is keeping an eye on it and if it doesn't get despatched on Monday then she will dig into it further.

Fingers and everything else crossed!

In fairness there really isn't a delay....you were quoted 16th-18th which if shipped Monday or Tuesday is still realistic.......I just got lucky it seems in getting it earlier than quoted.....it's so annoying tho cos my tracking says it arrived in Exeter depot at 7am this morning......that's where I live......phoned to say if I could come and collect it but they said no they have to make 1 attempt first......and it's scheduled for Tuesday!!! Why??? It's just sat there now, surely even if I can't collect it surely they could deliver it Monday!! They said it may change to Monday but at the mo scheduled for Tuesday....even tho the website tracking STILL says Monday.

Confused? I sure am lol.
