Sweet! What slew of brand new games were custom designed to run in that hardware?? Oh, none, umm deme decent "proof of concept", I guess =/

Thats why some deals need to be made. And apple needs to decide if gaming is going to get more attention. If so, they'll need to step up the graphics unless we are expected to be playing Angry Birds forever.

It's not baffling at all why people would want nintendo on IOS.

I have childhood memories of nintendo games, don't buy consoles anymore, and would love to replay old, gameboy, snes, n64 or even game cube games.
Until hell freezes over, why don't you download an emulator and download any old game you want to.

SNES9X works great on the mac and there are hundreds of SNES titles as well as emulators for all past systems practically and all the game roms to play on them. Oh,... and it's free.

I need to be able to play zelda : Skyward Sword, while laying in my bed though...Also in class. :)

no analog sticks = fail

no analog sticks is funny how it FAIL! :D

Three different types of controllers are coming (this is my understanding, but correct me if I'm wrong), well at least *support* for three different types of controllers: a stand-alone which doesn't require physical connection (not attached to the device); and two form-fitting controllers, of which this is one (the smaller and less functional one) - the other form-fitting one has all the same controls *plus* dual shoulder buttons *and* dual analog sticks, which is the one that I want and am eagerly awaiting. Can't wait, but it's fun to see at least some leaks of what's coming.

Oh,... and it's free.

And illegal.

But hey, stealing is free too, so go ahead and do some of that while you're at it.

You wouldn't be able to play Skyward Sword on an iPad with a controller anyway. The game's core mechanics are built around the Wii Remote to the point that it's basically unplayable without it.

I'm sure they can work out the details...

I like the mockup, or image or whatever it is, but you can see how much nicer it would be if the iPhone had a smaller bezel. I'm not sure if the 6 will be much smaller, but I expect the iPhone 7 will finally see a legit small bezel.

I would also like a regular controller to use with the iPad. Integration is fine for the iPhone, but iPad it's not really necessary.

If Apple successfully manages to dilute the quality of home console gaming by moving the entire industry to casual gaming, I will never forgive them. They will have destroyed an industry.

You better start practicing hating Apple, because they will take gaming. So will Android by default.

Look it's easy to see, they can outspend game console development 100 to 1. It's only a matter of time, consoles will not have a chance. Plus, it's good for gaming any way you slice it. Traditionalist may not like it, but they'll eventually accept it or grow up and move on anyhow.

So does that giant thing have a battery inside it?

And your reasoning? Because that $1 billion plus worth of consumers that bought GTAV aren't going to suddenly opt for Candy Crush.

Because being able to play Despicable Me on your iPhone and Apple TV is going to make people skip out on GTA V, The Last of Us, Halo, and Bioshock.

not yet, but in the future id bet dedicated gaming platforms will flatten then decline in the same way that dedicated photography devices have compared to multi-purpose devices (mobile phones). SLRs and high-end point-and-shoots continue to exist for hardcore users, but most people are OK with the compromises and use their multi-purpose device (phone). it happened. as mobile processing gets better (have you seen Infinity Blade 3?) and adds more controller types, it will probably happen to gaming as well...

It'll be a long way off that an IPad moves in on an Xbox with a giant TV attached. :D

I'm all for it though. (I don't have a TV and Xbox pushed a mandatory firmware update that immediately broke my disk drive last year)

Rather pay for something legit. Don't want to jailbreak or mess up date settings to trick it into accepting outside apps.

As an analogy, that's a pretty poor one.

For one there's a very large demand for old classics on iphone, two it isn't damaging to nintendo, we aren't asking for new games to be robbed from their new systems. It's the forgotten abandoned games, that aren't making nintendo anymore profit. Three, rereleases have worked very well for squaresoft, chrono trigger, final fantasy, etc, etc.

Controllers for iOS: Yay!

This controller for iOS? Yikes. Why is it so completely unnecessarily wide? Like so much wider than it needs to be? Why are you shipping it without any analogue sticks?

I've been hesitant to play the new deus ex game on iphone, and any fps/shooter on the iphone because i don't like the virtual sticks on screen. I'm definitely ready for a controller attachment, time to put my 5S through its paces ;)

It does seem rather wide, I was thinking this too - why not hide the bezels of the iPhone top and bottom, while providing a hole for the home button perhaps.

As for the analog sticks, there are two types of controllers with a physical connection to your device, one has single shoulder buttons either side and no analog sticks (which is this one), the other supported controller has dual analog sticks and dual shoulder buttons, and that's the one I'm planning to buy (for both my iPhone and my iPad mini. Still, it's good to see at least one of the versions of the controllers.

Unless its $9.99 im not buying it, likely hood is the iPhone 6 wont fit in it thus needing me to buy a new one next year

This tied in with Apple TV will be a massive hit to Xbox and playstation

No

I am not a gamer myself but have a couple of friends who spend a mini fortune on those things, they have way more advanced graphics and processing power than any of iOS devices, they are actual PCs.

Thank god it is battery operated. Otherwise, you would get 10 minutes of gameplay and then have a dead iPhone.

(That is if the leak is true.)

1) there's a pretty large demand for Mac OS on PC. What's your point.
2) it's not damaging to Apple either to have a larger Mac OS install base.
3) it has worked out very well for Microsoft.

If you have to carry around a controller and a stand to play videogames why not just play some actual console games at that point? Talk about defeating the purpose...

Who said anything about carrying them around?
I'd love to have a dual stick controller for my iPhone and a second dedicated controller for either my iPad or Apple TV.

I've had every generation of console from the Colecovision through the Xbox 360. I'm in my late 30s, married with two kids and I don't have the time to invest or the desire to spend the money that AAA console games require. I want to be able to pick up and play games that have middle of the road depth (say PS1 to PS2 era) on my iPad and Apple TV.

Apple is going to nail the console market they can create a gaming ecosystem that lands somewhere between current iOS offerings and the AAA console titles.

I read some of your other posts on whether or not Nintendo should bring their library to iOS. They should and will. They have no choice.

Nintendo should see the writing on the wall and evolve into a software company and begin telling their stories on other platforms. They have legions of Gen Xers like me who would love to play through their back catalog via the Apple platform. Meanwhile, their IP isn't gaining traction with Millennials and Gen Z. My older nephews (older Millennials) were the last to ask for Nintendo portables for bdays and Xmas. My younger nephews all asked for iOS and Andriod devices. My kids, Gen Z, have no interest at all in Nintendo hardware. They are 4 and 1 and know how to use every iOS device in the house. They have no interest at all in Nintendo. Mario and Link are lost on them.
