Typical Fanboy Statement

Really? I use my iPhone for business purposes all the time. It's the best business phone I've ever had.

He's trying to be funny by quoting/mocking Steve Ballmer. Extreme fan boys tend to speak in quotes.. They all "Skate to where the puck is going to be", the "back of their phones look better than the front of the other guys", their computers are all "elegant and delicious", and all Apple displays are "gorgeous" ....

Rarely does a blind fanboy have an original thought...

i'm a windows user and don't ever plan on buying anything apple other than an iphone and i think the Zune sucks. so much potential and MS just crippled it

I think the same thing. But who knows, MS might have big plans for it, which are somehow . . . hidden, for now. Unless they plan on just leaving it as is, which would be their typical MO.

There's always the possibility of xbox integration and whatnot . . .

Exactly, I'm on this site because I bought a Macbook, so I wanted to learn more about macs. And now instead of getting a ipod touch I'm considering getting a Zune, because some of these comments are so over the top, that it kind of makes a person not want to support Apple. I would understand it if maybe they worked for Apple.

Good luck using the Zune with your Mac. The conversion to WMA is enough for me to walk away. Change those two things, and I might consider picking one up. I am still holding out for the ZiiLabs Egg...

I also have Windows 7. And yes, it actually worked in turning me off to Apple, too many comments to list. Of the top of my head I remember a Mac user starting a thread about how great Macs are, and one of the reason was that when he closed the lid of his mac book, it went into sleep mode. Some comments are so ignorant that it does work in turning a person off to Apple.

Example, I'm a big Kobe Bryant fan, but Michael Jordan was such a superior player. I'm always pulling for Kobe, but around 2 months ago I started watching NBA videos on youtube, and now I find myself not pulling so much for Kobe, because of the just plain ridiculous comments that his teenage fans make, about a player who they never even saw play. They are so ignorant with their Jordan comments, since they weren't even conscious when he played, but they think Kobe is the greatest basketball player ever, not considering that he's all they know, and they think the only thing that matters is the only thing they know, their era, and anything else is irrelevant.

I just think you should judge a product by itself, not by its users. Believe me, there are tons of ignorant Microsoft fanboys too.

So you can't think for yourself?

Does that make you feel better?

Are you trying to go for a certain "understated" or noncommital, vendor-neutral image? Are there matching pairs of shoes for that?

What a strange, yet relevant analogy. I wonder how many people in here have actually given Windows 7 or a WinMo phone a test. Blasting the Palm Pre because it lacks a shiny, partially eaten apple silhouette is ignorant.

I thought this was supposed to be the fabled "iPhone Killer."

So, did MS just do this for the lulz?

Microsoft seems to be in no hurry to challenge the iPhone domination if they really are keen on making these devices, or they simply do not care?

These beauties will also include Zune services and apps. Winner!

Seriously, these pics can't be real. Has to be fake or some kind of joke in order to throw us all off the scent.

The fable "iPhone killer" is just crap the media and fanboys like yourself make up.

I already noticed you failed to read the article on it and failed to noticed that it is not targeted at the same group the iPhone is targeted at.
I think for what the phone is targeted at it will do really well. Now in the future I fully expect to see a Zune HD phone coming out.

Sad part is most of them. The Fanboys are pretty clear they see Microsoft and go Bashing. The little i have played with windows 7 I have liked. The little I have played with a Palm I like plus it has a physical keyboard. I honestly can not stand touch screen only.
The few of us who seem to of read it do noticed that the phone seems to be pretty well designed for the market it is targeting and that it is not going head to head with the iPhone.

Indeed!

I'm actually looking forward to see what Windows 7 has to offer. And I wouldn't mind checking out Windows Mobile, isn't there a new one coming out soon?

Having said that I'll still stick with my Macbook Pro and iPhone though, but I work on a PC at work and have no urge to change it into a Mac.

Even Nedry knew not to mess with the raptor fences!

WinMo in its current form is junk.

The Pre is a nice OS wrapped in junk.

Windows hasn't launched yet.

Aside from Windows 7, what else is there to know?

In all honesty I'm not really looking to getting neither one anytime soon, not until I start working again. By then I probably wont care. The feature I'm most interested is in being able to watch High Def videos on my TV, but I actually want a Mac Mini for that, but with Windows, to use some other programs on my TV. If only it had an HDMI cable.

Have you used WinMo and gotten over the slight learning curve? Answer is No You have not.

Have you even really bothered to use a Pre more than just to try to confirm you hate it? No you have not.

I say on windows 7 by December you will find a reason to bash it.

I guess it is ignorant, but it's just a human thing. You see it everywhere where there's a minority. They kind of stand close and start strongly bashing away their opponent. It's not just with computers. But yes, if you go to a PC forum you won't see much Apple bashing, but actual talk about features, and constructive criticism. There's no enemy to bash, more talk on how to improve things.

Obviously you have Physical Keyboard Envy. Fanboys frequently come down with cases of this, and others like Physical 2 Button Mouse Envy.

I had a Blackberry. I like the iPhone's virtual keyboard a lot better. If that makes me a fanboy, so be it, at least I actually enjoy what I have.

Seriously? From my experience PC users bash Apple users a lot more. And usually, even though some might gloat a little too much, Apple users know a little more about what they're talking about because they have actually used both OSes. Most PC users have never used OS X.

Windows 7 is a decent OS and will be good enough for many people. Do I think it is as good or as polished as OS-X? No, but then again, it isn't officially launched yet.

Windows Mobile is an abomination that drives me bonkers. Not only have I had to develop for it, but I had to design hardware for it and get it to run. It isn't so much the OS itself, but MS tools for it are just out of this world horrid! Their latest design environment maybe better, I got out asap. But 5.0 was so bad it made my keyboard bleed. Required flat design style, everything in one directory, all directories are hard paths, so you can't move it around easily, and more. Ugh.

Palm Pre, all I know is that they are trying hard to play games with their USB VID to get a free ride (and publicity) from Apple -- I can't respect that. Stand on your own feet. I haven't used the device to know if it is good or not, but it could be OK.

Product Microsoft would be good at making

If Microsoft likes to copy things so much, why don't they make a copy machine?

...on second thought, the first copy that came out would probably suck. You'd have to wait for the third copy to get something decent.

If the Pre's keyboard weren't so horrible, I might like the Pre a little more. But the whole unit feels lke flimsy junk. It doesn't take more than a minute's use to determine whether it's something you want to use. The whole Pre release is turning into a big joke, anyway.

Given that most companies run with Windows, you're much more likely to find OSX fans who have used / use Windows daily vs. Windows fans who use OSX daily. And in fairness to Windows, corporate windows is very often older versions because they don't like to change much, and the equipment is often older and / or not maintained well. These things can give windows a worse rap then it deserves.

But I did find, in the past, that PC fans were very apt to jump all over an OSX user without even stopping to find out anything about it. BUT, in the last 2 years it seems that more PC fans are willing to give OSX the benefit of the doubt (especially since the iPhone) and are willing to consider it a viable alternative.

OSX fans do have a tendency to believe in their superiority (although it could be argued as justifiable, it doesn't mean it is for everyone or will remain that way)

I visit this forum and a computer one, and I really don't find PC users talking about Mac, only every once in a while when a Mac user comes and starts basically passively putting them down by saying how Macs are so much better. I find Windows users talking more in great detail about computer hardware then anything else, it's almost as if they're talking a different language. Maybe it's just the site I go to, but it's just soooo technical, I've actually learn a lot about hardware. Here it's so much about, "Apple is the best, Microsoft sucks." And it doesn't look like hardcore Mac users have used Windows much, since all of their criticisms are so outdated, and just silly like that one mac user who bragged about being able to put his Mac into sleep mode by just closing the lid of hit Macbook.

tell you the truth that is where you are wrong.

If you go in thinking it will be junk (as I bet you did) it only takes one minute to confirm that belief because you go in beleive it is crap.

Same goes for people who go in thinking touch screen only is crap. Takes 2nds to confirm that.

I personally do not like touch screen only. I have tried it but it is not for me I really like the feel of physical keys. Some people like touch screen I do not. But I am not going to go out and say all touch screen only is crap.

Not everything has to be a slab to fit in a man's shirt pocket.

There are supposedly a fair number of female engineers working on stuff like this at Microsoft these days.

Perhaps the first one is supposed to be more usable by women, especially if they have nails. After the initial surprise at its looks, it seems pretty hand friendly to me.

The person heading the Pink project is a female FYI.

So what happened with all of Apple's patents on the iPhone interface? You know, from the original intro, "And boy have we patented it!"

They forgot to mention most of it was patented by Palm years before. Notice how Apples whole argument over Palm stealing their ideas quieted down.

Well, it makes sense if it's a more technical forum. This forum is more about rumors, new products, what the competition is doing... Of course there's going to be more criticism here.

And seriously, have you been here on product launches? Have you seen how many criticism Apple gets from Apple fans?

And it doesn't look like hardcore Mac users have used Windows much, since all of their criticisms are so outdated, and just silly like that one mac user who bragged about being able to put his Mac into sleep mode by just closing the lid of hit Macbook.

What about PC users that say there's not a lot of software for macs? Or that macs suck because they don't have a two-button mouse?

The pure, nice looking phone.

The turtle, wtf? It looks like a phone a friend has, but the form factor is ridiculous. Its clear its meant to be more of a texting device than an actual phone. I'd hate to make calls with a cinnamon bun up to my ear.
