I think his point is that with smart phones, even though apps show up in the app switcher they aren't "open". They aren't using any resources so there is no need to "close" them. Mostly people with OCD see all those apps in the app switcher and feel the need to obsessively close them all.

That's interesting. Cheers!

I will still close BBC news or udemy as they keep playing the sound of video when I'm in another app, or split screen multitasking. Paranoid. :p

Ultimately, Samsung religionists will adore it, Apple religionists will think it's the devil's handset. Everyone else will see it as a phone, which these days, categorically, are simultaneously ordinary and over-the-top. Does not matter what logo is stamped on it. Reminds me of the last years of Detroit's tailfin-era -- I wasn't there, I'm not *that* old, but I do love vintage cars (or at least pre-early 70's).

It's no wonder cell phones as a category are in a slump. Just making the fins/camera/screen bigger or broader every year loses it's appeal after awhile. I have an X. Enjoy it, no regrets. Has it changed my life or tapped my imigination the way the first iPhone models did? Nope. To paraphrase The Who's "New Song," phones today are same old song with a few new words. It's all very rote now. Commodities, all of them.

Why are they still making an S9+? I thought that was just to make up for the failure of the note 7? One of Samsung’s biggest criticisms since the note 8 came out was that it was basically the same thing as the S8. I don’t understand the need to compete with oneself with two flagship phones that fill that same market space.

While Samsung finally managed to get rid of the ugly camera bump they still have no idea how to design the LED array.

Now it just stays there so prominently in the middle of nowhere. Can't believe this design got approved.

Bring it on! I don't care what they say, there is a noticeable difference above the "magical" retina-PPI. 4K will be a breakthrough. It's just taking awhile to get there.
Not everyone uses their phones wearing a jeweler's loupe.

I have never understood that about Samsung as well, why make two competing products targeting the same size. If the products confuse the target demographic, the two product decision then is not smart.

Well with Samsung, they have a large product lineup, with overlaps across the lineup, so it's probably natural for them to make product with the only differentiation being the stylus, how can they not think that this is confusing for a customer, have to do research and get a PhD before you decide to buy a product.

Samsung is planning to unveil its next-generation smartphones, the Galaxy S9 and S9+, at an event that's set to take place at Mobile World Congress on February 25, but ahead of that date, several images have leaked depicting the South Korean company's new flagship device.

Noted leaker Evan Blass, aka @evleaks, has shared several renders of the new Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ on Twitter, along with details about what to expect from the device that will compete directly with Apple's own iPhone X.

Galaxy S9
Samsung's two new smartphones will continue to use the same general design as the Galaxy S8 devices, with slim bezels and a near edge-to-edge Super AMOLED display. Unlike the iPhone X, the S9 and S9+ have black bars at the top and bottom of the device, with the top bar housing components like the camera and the microphone.

Galaxy S9+
The larger of the two devices, the Galaxy S9+, features a new vertical dual camera design at the back of the phone, similar to the iPhone X. Samsung's invite for its February 25 event suggested camera improvements will be a main focal point for the two new flagship devices.

Rumors suggest the Galaxy S9 will feature a single 12-megapixel camera with variable aperture from f/1.5 to f/2.4, while the S9+ will feature the same variable aperture 12-megapixel camera paired with a second 12-megapixel camera with a fixed aperture.

Samsung isn't ready to introduce a robust Face ID-style feature in its smartphones (but it will continue to offer less secure iris scanning and facial recognition as options), so the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will feature fingerprint sensors located at the back of the devices. Samsung has, however, repositioned the fingerprint sensor on both devices to below the camera instead of to the right of it.

Samsung plans to offer its Galaxy S9 and S9+ in Midnight Black, Lilac Purple, Titanium Gray, and Coral Blue. The Samsung Galaxy S9 will measure in at 5.8 inches like the iPhone X, while the S9+ will measure in at 6.2 inches. Android Central has additional details about Samsung's upcoming S9 and S9+ for those who are curious about what to expect to see in the devices that will directly compete with the iPhone X.

Check the photo attached three responses down... as they said "the conveniently forgotten bezel" so maybe open your eyes and look a little harder. In real life, compared to the Apple site render the bezel is way more obvious. I doubt I'm the only one who dislikes the notch too. "Polarizing" seems to come up often when discussing the design. You might like it, great, I wanted to but I don't. And the more I see it. the more I dislike it. Simple.

Great for you, everyone else seems to disagree considering Apple sold more iPhone X's at a higher price than Samsung's flagships.

Let's be honest here, if Apple didn't exist, these phones would be pretty darn enticing. It's a good thing Apple came out with the iPhone X when they did. I think these Shamesung phones look quite amazing, although the placement of the cameras and fingerprint sensor is insanely stupid - people are still going to be smearing their greasy fingers all over the cameras.
I disagree completely. If Apple didn't exist Sammy's phones would look nothing like this. Look at what phones looked like before the iPhone and develop off of that design. Blackberry was king. Without Apple changing the design paradigm, phones would still have hard keyboard interfaces. Sammy does some great things within established lines of products but that is what they are, a one off.

Looks like someone hasn't heard of the LG Prada :)

Iris scanning less secure than face ID? LMFAO. Tell me how?

We've send children unlock face ID, twins unlock face ID and Asians unlocking face ID.

Show me just one indecent of sometim using their own iris to unlock a Galaxy.

I know you cater to the ignorant fanboy but try at least to be a little bit honest.

Right... You do know all those things happened on early trainings, were after failure someone opened the phone (thus introducing bad training data). Do it after a month bud... Yup, we don't hear about that anymore.

Yeah, there is less usable area than you’d think. I was just wondering why the person was saying it had less usable area than a plus sized phone. I mean, this is not meant to be a plus sized phone, that comes out this year.

Performs great for me. Highest benchmarks out there and no issues.

Lucky you.
