Anybody know why Samsung uses Snapdragon in the U.S. and a different processor everywhere else?

I think the short answer is CDMA support. Qualcomm owns certain patents which are key to CDMA cellular networks. This is also the basis of the big legal fight between Apple and Qualcomm and why Apple is using Intel modem chips for its GSM only phones, but Qualcomm modems for Verizon, Sprint and unlocked phones.

However, I believe there is more to the relationship than just that. I think Samsung licenses technology for its own processors from Qualcomm and may also manufacture chips for Qualcomm.

but Android has:
- "close all" apps button

When you don't understand how things work, you better keep your mouth shut.

- If I turn of wifi or bluetooth from quick access, it REALLY turns off. With Apple, turning off WiFi or Bluetooth just drops the current connection. What's the point?!
The point is landing pages, annoying public WIFIs, or temporary router/connection issues. There is, however, no point in offering a quick access option to turn off WIFI completely (you can still do it via Settings).

I only owned iPhones until last year when I switched to the S8+. I bought it right after Apple announced the price of the iPhone X. Too me, $1000 is too much for a phone. The first weeks with the S8+ were a bit difficult, missed a few things from the IOS. But as time went by, I got used to it and today I'm really happy with the phone. It's just a bit faster than my last iPhone (6S) but it's perfectly fine. Don't feel the need for a faster phone. It's also the most beautiful phone I've ever seen, hands-down. The ecosystem thing was the easy part: I've never used iMessages (I don't live in the US) and I've never really liked iTunes nor Notes (I used an app called Phonograph that's 10 times better than iTunes and Simplenote - simple, easy, fast, free).

Will I ever buy an iPhone again? Maybe, but first I need to see an iPhone with a better wifi chip (the intel chip is a deal breaker for me - I travel a lot and always need great 3g/4g speeds to communicate with my clients) and more reasonable prices.

Also, I really don't feel the need to upgrade my phone. It has everything I need and it's a pleasure to use. So I got the feeling I'll keep this phone for another 2 or 3 years (or until it dies on me or the battery goes bad).

In my opinion the S8/8+ are the best looking smartphones hands down

What are you on?

Check the photo attached three responses down... as they said "the conveniently forgotten bezel" so maybe open your eyes and look a little harder. In real life, compared to the Apple site render the bezel is way more obvious. I doubt I'm the only one who dislikes the notch too. "Polarizing" seems to come up often when discussing the design. You might like it, great, I wanted to but I don't. And the more I see it. the more I dislike it. Simple.

I also switched to the S8+ for a while especially when I got it for an awesome deal. It's great in many respects, but unfortunately Samsung still doesn't seem to handle security updates properly in my region. For something that's supposed to be a tool that hosts my private and also work data, having November 2017 security patches in February 2018 is a no-go. So now my S8+ is relegated to a toy/camera/spare role and an iPhone 8 is my daily driver.

Its got the two things I hate about the iPhone X.

I don’t want a tall phone, I want 16:9! Pillar boxes and cropped content can go screw. 16:9 or NOTHING.
I don’t want curved screen corners, I want right angles! I don’t care about edges or aesthetics, don’t dump pixels I want.

Seriously these two things are the sole reasons I will never get a 2018 phone.

Also this looks exactly like LG!

I don't like the aspect ratio either, but +/- 2:1 displays seem to be where the higher end of this market is going.

Let's talk performance. The iPhone X has one of the best mobile processors on the market, yet isn't really a stronger performer than the Note8 or possibly even the S8 in a lot of areas. The phone is getting held back by iOS 11.

Performs great for me. Highest benchmarks out there and no issues.

Waiting for the Specs... I own an iPhone, so i can't really care much for the design.. My iPhone 8 Plus looks just as bad as my old iPhone 6.. Im more intrested in the spec and camera... and features.

I have to admit, the bottom bezel doesn't look good. iPhone's looks better. I would have preferred this Samsung to have slightly more on top, and slightly less on bottom. Black bar across the entire top is the way to go though, at least for the next 2-4 years until they can get rid of the top bezel.

I think the iPhone 7 Plus/8 Plus are as good as it gets for bezeled phones. The notch on the X never bothered me. Apple still remains the king of design. And it’d be really hard to pull me out of the iOS ecosystem.

Fugly. Reimagined.

I have to agree.

I don't like a lot of Apple's design decisions (the notch, the camera bulge, that awful iPhone battery cover etc) but one can't deny Apple's design is largely beautiful, but Samsung have never made their phones look attractive.
