Samsung may catch up with Apple someday. But not today.

Like switching to OLED? Like having face ID? Like having a flush mount camera? Like having a pen that doesn't requiring an accompanying tablet?

How Apple FBs get away w/ perpetuating obvious myths is irritatingly fascinating. May as well say a grape is orange in colour (w/ Samsung being the orange grape).

Where's the notch?

It's right there at the top and extends all the way across the entire width of the phone, relegating the time/carrier/battery info to the main part of the screen and leaving less real estate for apps.

It’s a pain to use FaceID about 25% of the time, and everyone except supermodels look stupid holding it up to their face for it to open.

If that's truly your experience then something seems to be wrong with your FaceID setup. I'd try doing it over.

5.8" on the smaller phone? Jesus christ... who's got hands that big?

The S9+ will outsell the S9 by a wide margin. Just as the + size iPhone has outsold its smaller brethren since the 6S.

The 6.1” OLED this fall will outsell all models except the LCD + phone. The trend is an SE or + size device. The “normal iPhone size” is constantly evolving. :apple:

Its got the two things I hate about the iPhone X.

I don’t want a tall phone, I want 16:9! Pillar boxes and cropped content can go screw. 16:9 or NOTHING.
I don’t want curved screen corners, I want right angles! I don’t care about edges or aesthetics, don’t dump pixels I want.

Seriously these two things are the sole reasons I will never get a 2018 phone.

Also this looks exactly like LG!

Same as the S8 but with the finger print scanner in a better position, nothing surprising at all.

But, it is surprising if the Plus model only gets the dual camera. I’m rather glad Apple put one in the X. Because it’s the smaller phone.

I'm loving Apple fans complaining that the Galaxy series "looks the same". Apple has had the exact same design since 2012 (SE) and 2014 (8). Now THAT is sad.

"Real estate for apps"?

LOL... you have to be kidding me. The notch was an ugly-ass design choice. There is no "real estate for apps" in those cat ears.

Not sure why this thread needs to be a Samsung Galaxy versus Apple iPhone war. Competition is a good thing and Samsung introducing the S9/S9+ creates diversity for consumers to choose what they want. In a very competitive smart phone market, choices are a good thing. Samsung makes a great device and I'm curious to see what they announce soon.

Samsung’s have never been my choice when I had androids, but man their devices are beautiful in real life (s8 all black). I’m a sucker for all black phones - one of the reasons it’s so hard for me to upgrade my matte black iPhone 7. This particular render though does not look good.

The way some posters post in here - I wonder if they really are like this in real life? I never understood this fanatical brand loyalty.

Also, regarding posters who thump their chests yelling slim bezels, the s8 screen to body ratio favours the galaxies in comparison the the x. The iphones overall bezels are larger.

What piqued my interest is this variable aperture. I want to hear more about this camera! Man this would be a killer feature on an iPhone.

I have the iPhone X, which I love, but I still think that Samsung makes a damned sexy phone. Up until Apple released the X, Samsung was releasing much better looking hardware than Apple was (starting with the S6). The iPhone design pre X was just tired (Not to mention that the pre X iPhone had almost the biggest bezels on the market). Next year is apt to be the year when Samsung releases their true answer to the X.

Next year they will release these things in Jan and the year after in Dec. They keep edging that date up with almost every single release in trying to compete against Apple. It's actually pretty funny. Folks either like Sammy or they don't! I did the Sammy thing for 3 years and now I am back with iPhones. I don't see myself going back to Sammy anytime soon, but competition is a good thing!

You think that is bad, you should see the new iPhone...it's got an uneven NOTCH at the top that really stands out!
#1 reason why I didn't pick one up, my OCD will never allow me to not see the notch. The back camera on my iPhone 7 Plus drives me crazy when I flip it over.

So they realized the fingerprint sensor placement in the S8 was a mistake. Too bad people have to buy the new phone to “fix” it.

As for Android, my general comment remains. There’s no point in paying premium for Android like Samsung when a $200-$300 Android run the same apps and gives most of the same features, if not better. Heck, I bet my cheap Mi A1 will be more up to date in OS and patch few years later than these overpriced Samsung.

The S8/S9 is simply beautiful. As a long-time iPhone user, I was never really intrigued with anything Samsung until the Galaxy S8. Fell in love first time I saw the phone on display; that infinity screen is just something else. The UI has improved tremendously as well. Can't wait to get my hands on the S9+!

Looks good. Given that the so-called Apple ecosystem is still woefully inadequate (just look at the unuseable mess that Files is) and how easily any individual component can be replaced, it’s much easier to make a case to switch between Apple and Android.

Me, I’m not buying another Apple flagship phone until they come to their senses and offer one in a larger size.

Well if the rumors are to be believed, you'll get your wish later this year.

I'm not sure how the Apple ecosystem is "woefully inadequate". I use it all day everyday and it's great. I'm all-in and maybe that's why it all works so well.
